Following on from the fantastic thread of the weekend, I thought we'd continue discussing our brexit cupboards and boxes here. Here's to all the preppers and their cupboards, no matter what they contain. (Keep quiet about your stash in real life).

Jen I know you're worried. We all are.

My GP surgery online system has decided, in the last few days, not to allow renewal of my thyroid medication - which I need to take every day, for the rest of my life - without a clinical review.

I had my clinical review & blood test etc in September. I have only six days of medication left.

I have asked for a phone call (no appointments available). I can only imagine how bad this could get in April / May.

Let's be nice to each other.

MamaLovesMango · 28/01/2019 17:26

Clan yes, I was thinking something along the lines of homemade pizzas. Could always jazz them up with hotdogs. Or homemade afternoon tea. Luckily I have baking skills and my kids love an afternoon tea!

Scandaloso · 28/01/2019 17:29

Every kid I've ever met loves a slice of pizza so that plus some chocolate buns and you're on to a winner. Just make sure the party guests' parents don't catch wind and try and snaffle it for themselves Grin

bubblewire · 28/01/2019 17:30

@AutumnCrow hopefully this isn't because there are shortages. I just renewed my script for it and could see the pharmacy had plenty in stock.

cloudtree · 28/01/2019 17:31

Shelf stable primula sandwiches and jam sandwiches for the party. It'll be like the 70s again.

And on that note I discovered Vesta are still making their chowmein/curries in a box and selling them in tesco.

Screamish · 28/01/2019 17:33

Jens I assumed from you taking offence at my earlier post that you were one of the vocal naysayers from earlier, cannot be arsed to go dredging through posts but if you're not I apologise (while being a bit baffled that you took my earlier post to be aimed at you if you're not against this!)

Why are you arguing with everyone then? Why do you keep coming back to challenge individual posters? Why not just read the thread, take what you need from it without being needlessly combative to posters you are now saying you agree with?
Anyway I can't believe I'm joining in with this pointless, headbanging exercise, I'm off to buy some tins or somethingConfused

AutumnCrow · 28/01/2019 17:34

@bubblewire thank you, I'm hoping it's just a strange cock-up. I only get two months' supply as it is. If this happened during an actual shortage, I'd be very stressed - and it's not a good use of the surgery's time really.

cloudtree · 28/01/2019 17:36

Some people like to rewrite history. Suspect its about to become a Beleaver trait when we're all fighting over UHT milk.

PerverseConverse · 28/01/2019 17:38

I'm wondering if it's worth emailing my GP to see if they'd do a double script to see me through. I can eek out my painkillers by stocking up on OTC co-codamol and adding extra codeine from my script. The stomach meds are not otc at all and I'd be in agony without those so they are the ones I'm worried about.

@AutumnCrow I only get 2 months supply at a time too, it's very annoying as I have been in the same dose for years and years.

AutumnCrow · 28/01/2019 17:40

My local supermarket today was sold out of tinned sponge puddings. I last dimly remember that when my dad bought them all during the three day week.

I was a little kid but recall boxes of candles being stored in the cupboard.

PerverseConverse · 28/01/2019 17:42

@AutumnCrow that's @bellinisurge 's doing as she mentioned them yesterday Grin

bellinisurge · 28/01/2019 17:42

Ooo @AutumnCrow , I have been searching for tinned steam puddings. I have a nasty feeling they only do microwave plastic ones now. I dug one out for my dd when she was poorly recently. Went down a treat.

bellinisurge · 28/01/2019 17:44

@PerverseConverse , I found some plastic pot ones in B&Ms. Cadbury choc and Cadbury fudge ones. Nutritional value? Zero. Warm fuzzy feeling? Yep.

Scandaloso · 28/01/2019 17:45

Oooh I've never had a tinned steam pudding. That is definitely going on the list.

AutumnCrow · 28/01/2019 17:47

Asda sell tinned sponge puddings and they're on offer for £1 - they keep them above the custard, which is rather harmonious Smile

Except when they've run out ...

cloudtree · 28/01/2019 17:48

The simpsons tinned steamed puddings in morrisons online are all sold out - all flavours. and it says no more stock available Shock

This is bad.

cloudtree · 28/01/2019 17:54

Fortunately I prep Grin

Amazon to the rather more expensive rescue. For now.

Catquest1 · 28/01/2019 17:55

Im a secret prepper - my dh thinks im mad but i dont care, im remaining defiant.

Although i accidentally over ordered on rice last week and ended up with 8kg of rice.

Still we will eat it and it wont go off. Basmati anyone?

Scandaloso · 28/01/2019 18:00

cloudtree I'm impressed Grin

You will get chubbier as everyone else scraps over a scraggly old parsnip.

Buteo · 28/01/2019 18:00

I don't need to get in any steamed puddings - I still have Christmas puddings left over from about a decade's worth of festivities.

MamaLovesMango · 28/01/2019 18:01

I need tinned sponge puddings. Will have to go on a hunt. Custard and rice pudding (to replace the gallons of yogurt the kids eat) is already on the list.

katienana · 28/01/2019 18:10

Went to Morrison's with toddler ds today and he was very keen on me buying tinned custard. Maybe he wants to start his own cupboard!

cloudtree · 28/01/2019 18:11

I have to admit the Heinz ones have 2016 dates on them since I bought them for about 30p each when the line was being discontinued. They're still fine though, the DC and I shared one recently.
