If you voted leave, please answer at least three of these, it must include #6.

  1. Can you name a bad EU law?
  2. What will you do outside the EU that you couldn't do inside the EU?
  3. How will WTO tariffs keep us competitive?
  4. How will border controls keep our lorries moving?
  5. Why would any Multinational stay in the UK with tariffs, mountains of “country of origin” paperwork, and border hold ups?
  6. How can you solve the Northern Ireland problem?
  7. The EU citizen Hostile Environment. We now have twice as many NON EU immigrants coming to the UK to work than EU, how is that better?
  8. Under WTO rules any one of 163 countries can hold a trade deal up for years, is that taking back control?
  9. Trade deals take 8 years on average, what do we do in the meantime?
  10. Where do you get your information from, ever thought there may be a hidden agenda?

Very interested to see the responses.

Yeah, actually I’d be happy if any Leave voter had ever - in a single one of the Brexit discussions on these boards over the past two and a half years - been able to explain one benefit of leaving the EU. But they never have! They’ve always been mysteriously too busy and important to explain whilst having the time to post about how they won’t answer, shouldn’t have to answer etc. So it’s clear that the Leavers have nothing but blind faith. The rest of us would rather not be made poorer and have our lives made worse due to your stupid fantasies, thanks.

surferjet · 24/11/2018 11:23

Ending freedom of movement.

The main reason I voted leave. Said it 100’s of times on here.
Other leavers have given reasons too, & lots of them.
Maybe you just aren’t really interested in our views.

Moussemoose · 24/11/2018 11:30

You're asking questions of the wrong people

No I'm asking questions of the people who voted for it. You made a choice. You made a decision. It was clear there was no plan. It was blindingly obvious that the EU would stick to their guns - we know this because they said so repeatedly.

The government didn't plan that's not your fault - but it was obvious there was no plan and yet you still voted for it.

With all this information you went into a polling booth and put a cross in a box.

Now you want to blame everyone else, it's like a spoilt child making a decision and then blaming other people.

Yes I have a different opinion and you have admitted my choice was correct because the government is and was an ineffective bunch of jelly babies. This is one of the many reasons I voted to remain.

Stop blaming others for choices you made. The trouble this will cause, the poverty and misery will be your responsibility. Own it and stop blaming others.

Moussemoose · 24/11/2018 11:31

Will the deal we have end FOM?

bellinisurge · 24/11/2018 11:34

Very interested in your views @surferjet . Why are you so defensive? You won the referendum. You clearly took the view that we couldn't regulate freedom of movement to suit our economic needs and that FOM was not a price worth paying for the multitude of benefits we got as being members of the EU.
What are you so worried about now? Other people agreed with you enough to vote Leave.
I disagree with you. I think we can control it better to suit our economy and I think it is, in any event, a price worth paying. my view didn't prevail. Why are you so defensive?

surferjet · 24/11/2018 11:43

What are you so worried about now?

Eh, I’m not worried - where did I say I was worried?
This deal isn’t perfect but it ends FOM so I’m actually very happy.

bellinisurge · 24/11/2018 11:45

If you are satisfied with this deal, @surferjet , as you keep saying you are, why do you come on Brexit threads to defend Leave voters? They aren't some special snowflakes that need defending. The only thing that matters now is avoiding No Deal. Everything else is just noise.

Moussemoose · 24/11/2018 11:47

FOM is maintained until a final agreement is reached.

It may well be continued.

Peregrina · 24/11/2018 11:56

The rest was up to government to sort out.

Quite a few leavers said that they were happy for the Government to sort it out. Now that Theresa May has come back with something, they are not happy, and some are describing her as 'Treason May'. I think this is funny, because she had Leavers e.g David Davis in post, so it was up to him to work for a better deal.

surferjet · 24/11/2018 12:05

Why do I come on brexit threads?
You’re lucky I do cos not many other leavers give you the time of day anymore.
And according to my ‘threads I’m on’
This is the only brexit thread I’m posting on - unlike you.
This thread caught my eye because it was asking for leavers views. rest assured I hide 99% of brexit threads these days - been there - done that - got the headache.

It’s a shame really, because I’d love to start one more brexit arms thread in the run up to
the deal, purely for brexiteers to chat, but I don’t bother because you lot wouldn’t stay away & you’d ruin it.
This entire board is remainerville.
One prize you won I suppose.

Buteo · 24/11/2018 12:06

because she had Leavers e.g David Davis in post, so it was up to him to work for a better deal

This would be the same David Davis that only last week said the UK should leave with No Deal and then work on an FTA during the transition period?

I think this ^ for example is very much the reason why everything since June 2016 has been one cock up after another.

Incompetence mixed with hubris on a grand scale.

Peregrina · 24/11/2018 12:17

This was the same David Davis, seen at a meeting with no papers in front of him, and who only attended I think 4 meetings. For one of those, if I recall correctly, he left early, an appointment with Paul Dacre being more important to him.

mummmy2017 · 24/11/2018 12:21

Please check back in the threads, we have many times admitted since nothing is sorted nothing is sure.
Most people who voted leave knew this was the only chance EVER. To get to leave the EU.
We are an island our situation is so unique, we won't starve to death like Africans might, there will food, drink and white goods, and a certain knowledge that with change comes oppertunity...
That is what I voted for the oppertunity.

Peregrina · 24/11/2018 12:29

Opportunity to do what though?

Larry Elliot, a Leaver had a piece in the Guardian the other day, slagging off the EU and then saying much the same as you. He opined that we could lower interest rates (already low) or we could end austerity. We could end austerity tomorrow if we chose, it has zero to do with the EU, but the political will to do so is not there. It won't be there until the major parties wake up to the fact that it will lose them votes.

bellinisurge · 24/11/2018 12:38

I come on these threads to urge people to do what they can to stop No Deal.
I don't care what they did or how they voted in the referendum. As long as they press against No Deal.
At this point, I'm past caring about people's stupid or sensible views as long as they don't kid themselves about No Deal.

mummmy2017 · 24/11/2018 12:59

It can't be stopped... You do know that right.
27 countries who all want... Need something. From this deal...
The fishy smell is the deal on the table going bad...
We deserve better. We should walk away and rewrite how we trade, we won't starve.....

bellinisurge · 24/11/2018 13:06

I won't starve. I'm a prepper.
If you voted for "we won't starve", then ok. Did the rest of the people you conned into voting Leave with fake promises?

Moussemoose · 24/11/2018 13:13

mummmy2017 what the fuck does we won't starve to death like Africans might mean?

Anyway, this isn't about starving this is about significantly lowering our quality of life for no discernible reason.

If the only plus point is "we won't starve" you really need to consider your arguments .

Fattymcfaterson · 24/11/2018 13:32

I'm not blaming anyone? I'm simply pointing out that the government has been ineffective in producing a decent leave deal.

I'm not blaming anyone because I still want to leave!! And that's my opinion and that was my vote

1tisILeClerc · 24/11/2018 13:39

Getting from 'sunny uplands and prosperity' to 'we won't starve' would represent a massive failure in my book.
A bit like 'I took the kids on a day out and only 1 got killed'.
Leavers need to own this mess and feel remorse for those that are likely to die.

Moussemoose · 24/11/2018 13:55

That's my opinion and that's what I want

I want to leave and I'll scream if we don't.

I can produce no arguments, I can not justify my decision, if it goes wrong it's the governments fault no mine!

Can you not see how damaging that is?

You may not be blaming anyone but I am. If we have no medicine I will blame you. If the economy tanks I will blame you. If we have a bonfire of regulations and people end up hurt I will blame you.

I already blame you and your vote for the rise in racism, I already blame you that we can't fight austerity because we are in this dog fight, I already blame you that we can't focus on defeating Universal Credit.

You might not want the blame but there it is at your feet.

1tisILeClerc · 24/11/2018 13:59

Bonfire of regulations is incorrect as the UK will need MORE and won't be sharing resources with the rest of the EU countries.

surferjet · 24/11/2018 14:03

I don’t think talking to leavers is doing you any good tbh - if anything it’s makjng you worse.

Bowchicawowow · 24/11/2018 14:06

The Brexit issue has made me realise that developing countries who gained independence had huge courage to do what they did.

1tisILeClerc · 24/11/2018 14:18

Surferjet
When you and your leaver mates make reparations to my and 16 million others' loss of freedom and prosperity you may be worth listening to.
Since your stated reason, immigration, is a form of racism I can only hope your 'reason' is not the common one.
