If you voted leave, please answer at least three of these, it must include #6.

  1. Can you name a bad EU law?
  2. What will you do outside the EU that you couldn't do inside the EU?
  3. How will WTO tariffs keep us competitive?
  4. How will border controls keep our lorries moving?
  5. Why would any Multinational stay in the UK with tariffs, mountains of “country of origin” paperwork, and border hold ups?
  6. How can you solve the Northern Ireland problem?
  7. The EU citizen Hostile Environment. We now have twice as many NON EU immigrants coming to the UK to work than EU, how is that better?
  8. Under WTO rules any one of 163 countries can hold a trade deal up for years, is that taking back control?
  9. Trade deals take 8 years on average, what do we do in the meantime?
  10. Where do you get your information from, ever thought there may be a hidden agenda?

Very interested to see the responses.

The areas which had the most immigration tended to vote Remain, so it implies that people who do know immigrants aren't worried about it.

As with anything, you can draw conclusions that suit your agenda.

IIRC Lincolnshire had the highest leave vote - and has experienced a considerable amount of immigration from other EU nations.

The UK government has always had a means to 'control' immigration which it has failed to do, repeatedly and for many years.
It is also the government's responsibility for the welfare of ALL people that reside in the UK. The fact they have very little regard for many outside London and the South East is a total disgrace and is nothing to do with the EU.

Exactly! I had a FB spat a couple of days ago with my friend's Mum. I don't let anything she says go because she has quite a few friends who seem to look to her for political guidance.

She makes regular digs about Muslims ( she knows none) how crowded hospitals are and how tiny this island is and how busy London streets are. She lives in a small bloody town in rural North Yorkshire, where both our families come from. She visits London about twice a year if that. Using crowded London as one of her main beefs and an example of a ( non existent) problem.

I pointed out that those of us that lived here for 40 years cope fine thanks! Yes there has been too low investment in infrastructure, but like all globalised vibrant forward looking cities it's a busy place.

She makes me fume. I'm happy with my UK, Irish, German, Iranian,Chinese, Indian, Dutch descent friends thanks^ all living and paying taxes - in our^ errrr Cityish City. If she doesn't like it -then don't visit.

IIRC Lincolnshire had the highest leave vote - and has experienced a considerable amount of immigration from other EU nations.

Hence why I said 'tended'. Areas like Cornwall, and Sunderland have few immigrants but voted Leave. The UK Government could have invested more in Lincolnshire, to mitigate any deleterious effects of immigration felt there, but they chose not to. The immigrants might also have brought advantages too - didn't the influx of young people help to keep the local maternity hospital open? It also means that UK people don't have to do backbreaking agricultural work. Still you will be able to do that soon, or put up with immigrants from elsewhere.

With the likelihood that these will be 'vetted' before being allowed into the UK, only wealthier immigrants will come and they won't be paying loads of money just to pick broccoli. It will either be lower skilled UK citizens doing the work or no broccoli.

My area voted 70% remain. This is despite - or more probably because - it has a very high immigrant population Smile Our catchment primary school is 60% English as an Additional Language. The closer (Confused) primary school is 98% EAL. The equidistant Catholic catchment primary school has a similar proportion of EAL (and almost no Catholics Confused). Ds' old secondary has 55 languages spoken at it Shock

The majority of the immigrants were able to vote as they are Commonwealth or are actually either 2nd/3rd generation and have British passports anyway.

This was the final year charity multi-cultural lunch at ds' old school, just to illustrate how much the multi-culturalism is celebrated and the multiplicity of countries represented. (I had to make Danish and South African food for ds to take).

And I can still get appointments at the GP Grin - only might have to wait a wee bit longer (c a week) if I want to see "our" GP as opposed to any of the practice GPs Wink
