There's a deal.

The press are over excited.

May has united the country.

Everyone hates it.
(Apart from David Allen Green)

Parliament might yet reject it.

Nothing is yet decided and everything is still to be sorted.

It's mutually beneficial, imo, scooby
The EU need the CIty too, or many of their businesses will have problems raising capital, changing insurance policies suddenly etc

They would like to take some of it now, then some more gradually, as they develop the facilities
but some things the City does simply can't be moved in the short term

So a sigh of relief on both sides, if the deal goes through and the City retains some passporting ..... for now

Happy to be corrected but I think May's formulation of "this deal, no deal or no Brexit at all" is new - we've had only the first two up to now? Raising prospect of revoking A50. Will frighten Brexiteers and bring hope to People's Voters.

Place mat king.

What a night.

Another ERG source tells me it’s ‘lunacy’ to imagine they would back a no confidence vote - and if that happened they would back the govt - goes without saying this is all v febrile

The ERG can not agree with itself.

Well,"this deal, no deal or stay" sounds like a reasonable choice to give us. Somehow don't think that was what she was offering!

RedToothBrush · 14/11/2018 19:42

The ECJ court case might throw a spanner in the works yet.

May wants remainers to believe that its this deal or no deal.

A ruling that says we can have no brexit isn't a message that she will want out there.

OP posts:
MissMalice · 14/11/2018 19:43

When’s the ruling due, Red?

RedToothBrush · 14/11/2018 19:45

EU summit 25th Nov
ECJ ruling 27th Nov

I see.

Exactly.

Sovrin lore.

So called 'brexit' is toast.

BigChocFrenzy · 14/11/2018 19:53

@red I believe the EJ starts to consider the A50 case on 27 November
We don't know how long they will take to deliver their decision

or if they will even say they are postponing their decision because the EU is redrafting A50 - which I believe the EU are in the process of planning, as part of the planned treaty update

BigChocFrenzy · 14/11/2018 19:53

May has leverage over the Brexiter MPs:

she needs the HoC to pass a Withdrawal Agreement, but afaik, she can revoke A50 on her own, as PM

if
EITHER
the ECJ say the UK can revoke unilaterally
OR
she gets agreement from the 27 EU leaders in advance !!

@red Do you know, if there is a vote on her leadership of the Tory Party - assuming she chooses to fight it - how long until that leadership vote must be held ??

I'm thinking many Brexiter MPs could think they have to vote for the deal, or she might hold on long enough to carry out a threat of revoking

BigChocFrenzy · 14/11/2018 19:56

Of course, her leverage over Remainer MPs - and the vast majority who aren't committed either way - is that voting down the WA would lead to No Deal disaster

Complicated !
No wonder she usually looks knackered

prettybird · 14/11/2018 19:56

The fact that the date still to be confirmed proposed summit is before the ECJ judgement will make the summit interesting.

That is, if the summit even goes ahead Hmm

The UK Government must hate the fact that the EU is so transparent in its governance: damn them for publishing the draft document already Wink

For a few daft wee men a kingdom won't be lost.

If you don't use democracy, you lose it.

Every day that you don't take action: letter write; postcard write; help with street stall; go to join Steve at @ Sodem. you are part of the problem.

lonelyplanetmum · 14/11/2018 20:02

I do find it beyond ironic that it starts...

"CONSIDERING that on 29 March 2017 the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland ("United Kingdom"), following the outcome of a referendum held in the United Kingdom and its sovereign decision to leave the European Union, notified its intention to withdraw from the European Union ("Union") and the European Atomic Energy Community ("Euratom") in accordance with Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union"

Beth Rigby
@BethRigby
NEW: told cabinet very split. May got it through on majority. Told that nearly 10 cabinet ministers opposed. Mood worse than after Chequers then? “Yeah, much much worse”

Hazardswan · 14/11/2018 20:05

Noted that to lonely

Pissed myself laughing that during the transtion period the UK can't make international trade deals without the EUs permission Grin

I'm gonna read that bit out to leavers.. .

BigChocFrenzy · 14/11/2018 20:05

Looking at the timing of the publication, the EU very politely waited until May made her statement first !

BigChocFrenzy · 14/11/2018 20:09

May meeting Arlene at 8:30 pm

Do they search visitors for weapons, if they are on the "very pissed at the PM" list ? 🧐

prettybird · 14/11/2018 20:09

Was that a bit of humour from Barnier, saying he hoped that each and every one of you will take the time to read the whole document at his press conference? Grin
