There's a deal.

The press are over excited.

May has united the country.

Everyone hates it.
(Apart from David Allen Green)

Parliament might yet reject it.

Nothing is yet decided and everything is still to be sorted.

woman That document is VERY important
Stops the hard right selling off the welfare state and having their Bonfire of Regulations, i.e. rights

I think we could remain in transition until we rejoin - and transition is basically EU minus the the UK being able to wreck things

We cannot force a Remain atm because there is NO public consent

Xenia · 14/11/2018 20:56

Annex VIII has the rules of the Joint Committee (UK and EU)

RedToothBrush · 14/11/2018 20:56

James Forsyth @jgforsyth
Problem for Number 10: the more they emphasise how Northern Ireland will benefit from being the only place with frictionless access to the EU & U.K. markets, the more they upset the Scottish Conservatives

OP posts:
BigChocFrenzy · 14/11/2018 20:58

woman All those deaths, deportations etc you post have been happening while we are still in the EU
The EU cannot stop member govts doing this
Only the voters can

woman11017 · 14/11/2018 21:00

^^No deal will not allow for that and the ERG will run roughshod over everything

Moved beyond that malarkey now.

We have had enough of this brexit fascist shite.

Legally, legislatively and politically, this horrendous episode is over.

Xenia · 14/11/2018 21:01

Decisions of co chairs by mutual consent under that Annex so I thnk it means any decision which is to be by the joint UK/EU committee needs both sides to agree which looks good.

BigChocFrenzy · 14/11/2018 21:02

Xenia Thanks for the Alex Barker (FT Brussels) twitter link. Useful

BigChocFrenzy · 14/11/2018 21:05

woman No Deal is what we get if this deal is voted down and May doesn't revoke A50 afterwards
It is a HUGE gamble to assume she would

Also, a defeat might topple her and give us an ERG PM

woman11017 · 14/11/2018 21:05

Only the voters can
It's fun watching "How low can you go" starring Orban, May and the whiney lazybones who watch it happen isn't it.

woman11017 · 14/11/2018 21:07

So it's a matter of which flavour of fascism would you choose?

Hasenstein · 14/11/2018 21:08

So we now wait to hear from Corbyn whether this deal passes Labour's 6 tests (exact same benefits, anyone?). If not, they've said they'll vote against any deal.

Also, a defeat might topple her and give us an ERG PM

I'm going to say that I think the ERG are a busted flush. They've missed their chances and events are moving beyond them. However May has done it (backroom promises that can never be cashed in) she's strung them along too far.

There just isn't time.

BigChocFrenzy · 14/11/2018 21:14

Laura Kuenssberg**@bbclaurak
Cabinet did reach a collective position, but certainly not unanimous.
I'm told 9 ministers spoke against the agreement - Fox, Hunt, Williamson, Penny Mordaunt, Javid, Leadsom, Evans, Mordaunt and Grayling.
9:44 PM · Nov 14, 2018 ·

So, not Raab or Gove
Hunt was Remain, now ambition has sent him to the dark side. Will he return ?

RedToothBrush · 14/11/2018 21:14

Laura Kuennsberg @bbclaurak
Cabinet did reach a collective position, but certainly not unanimous. I'm told 9 ministers spoke against the agreement - Fox, Hunt, Williamson, Penny Mordaunt, Javid, Leadsom, Evans, Mordaunt and Grayling.

Raab didn't speak against it but is said to have had a 'downer' on it, Mundell also described as a 'waverer' - there was not a final vote, but numbers were 18-11 depending how you categorise the waverers, according to one minister

Other cabinet sources say those who spoke against the deal were not making arguments for alternative deals or even criticising the content - but expressing reservations about whether it can get through the House

I think she means McVey not Mordaunt twice.

Raab keeping his mouth shut, suggests he knew already and is resigned to it.

Fox is no surprise. He had to. His job is what exactly if this goes through?

Mordaunt and McVey we already knew about.

Leadsom is no surprise. Plus she makes the rest of the Cabinet feel intelligent.

In the scheme of things is Baroness Evans even relevant?

Given the law of Chris Grayling, if he doesn't like it, that's possibly good news for the country, because if Grayling likes it, its got to be a shit policy.

Williamson, Javid and Hunt... The three with the biggest leadership ambitions. I wonder why they spoke up. All three were Remainers, were they not? With Javid and Hunt having been allegedly converted but really they do a long of non committal hedge better rather than be genuinely supportive of leave. Those three are fascinating.

Did you spot the strangely quiet one from the above? One Mr M Gove?

Fascinating.

DG For No Deal, there is always time - because it is the default and doesn't need any time to negotiate
I'm keeping my fingers crossed until the HoC approve the WA ... if they do
If they don't, anything is possible

RedToothBrush · 14/11/2018 21:17

So McVey, Mordaunt, Leadsom, Williamson, Hunt and Javid ALL needed to virtue signal their deal objections for the sake of their own political futures.

Bet that's really shocked you.

Hmm
OP posts:
BigChocFrenzy · 14/11/2018 21:21

it shocks me that Loathsome still has a political future
Or thinks she has

Hunt & Willimson are the same sort of interchangeable slimy rat you find in any large organisation, trying to climb the greasy pole to the top

I've always thought Javid is one to watch. V clever politician

woman11017 · 14/11/2018 21:23

Sorry, didn't mean to be rude. BCF Flowers

But it's visceral here. Very bad things are happening.

There is a majority for remain.

If another poll is fixed for 'leave' so be it. I will get out and leave them to it.

But one has a moral duty to fight this shite.

I'm not keen on the poppy stuff, but like those who fought in WW2 we owe it to our kids. To do the right thing.

BigChocFrenzy · 14/11/2018 21:24

From the EU Q&A doc on NI:

http://europa.eu/rapid/press-releaseMEMO-18-64233_en.htm

"How will the backstop work?
If an agreement on the future EU-UK relationship is not applicable by 31 December 2020, the EU and the UK have agreed that a backstop solution will apply until such a time as a subsequent agreement is in place.

Alternatively, the UK may, before 1 July 2020, request an extension of the transition period.

RedToothBrush · 14/11/2018 21:28

Tom Newton Dunn @tnewtondunn
Big Brexit news: it appears Chequers has been chucked. A senior Govt source has refused to say PM is still pushing for an FCA or Common Rulebook in future trade deal: “We may get frictionless trade through another way”.

Tim Shipman @ShippersUnbound
May won over Brexiteers in cabinet by agreeing to chuck Chequers. Senior officials have just briefed journalists that they still seek her goals from Chequers but would NOT confirm that they are now seeking the common rule book or her double tariff customs plan for the final deal

OP posts:
BigChocFrenzy · 14/11/2018 21:30

Not rude at all, woman but we must be realistic:

To overturn a ref that almost all Leavers think was OK, we need more than a 2% margin
or we hand the country straight over to the fascists at the next GE, or even to the ERG within this govt

re a 2nd ref - with people indignant about the 1st being ignored - it might even confirm No Deal

BUT it is always possible for a PM to revoke - with E27 consent - if she so decides
atm, looks v unlikely, especially if it's Remain MPs who help vote down the deal
However, let's wait and see

RedToothBrush · 14/11/2018 21:30

Loathsome still thinks she can be PM.

OP posts:
woman11017 · 14/11/2018 21:31

We have handed it to the fascists already BCF that boat has sailed.
They have the WA powers. It's already gone.

BigChocFrenzy · 14/11/2018 21:31

red I thought that's what you meant by career prospects ! 😂
Well, she already believes in the Brexit Unicorn
So she clearly doesn't do reality
