If you voted Brexit but would now like to remain, could you call loudly for a second referendum please?
I'm a remainer and see the obvious problems with remainers asking for a second referendum but if former Brexiters were to ask, it would have legitimacy surely.

While the possible aim of Brussels might be to make Europe more federalist, there is no way that the French/German/Spaniard would accept 'rule' from a neighbouring country, particularly one that has fought with them in the last 1000 years.
Having 'Brussels' that EVERYONE can complain about, although for differing reasons is probably the best way to continue. It is quite obvious that some countries take 'EU dictats' with varying degrees of compliance.
Sovereignty can only be 'pure' if you have total control. Nowhere in the world can manage this, even N Korea depends on China.

I'm good at my job. I automate many tasks leaving me plenty of time to stare out the window/post on mumsnet.

I'm just wondering about the housing market. We are looking to move and with Brexit deals not being smooth it's very uncertain if you stay put and lose equity in a house you don't want to be in long term you'll have to wait a while to get back to 100% value. Or do you just move sooner to the house you're happy in long term? With kids it's such a hard choice, especially when you want to add one more!

The government leaflet was very good - unfortunately it was smeared to death before it landed, meaning that some didn’t read it and many who did had a brexity backing track playing at full volume.

Talkstotrees · 20/11/2018 12:59

Leigh, I would say don’t overstretch yourself at the moment. Are you looking to spend a lot more on your new house?

Leigh
There is a reasonable risk that the value of the Pound could fall by up to 10%. This would manifest itself in various ways but I would add to your complicated mix of decisions that this is a possibility.
Assessing your job stability needs to go in there too, does your/partners work have any link to EU, via trade for example. Things may go well, but now is not the time to expose yourself unless you really have to.

Yaralie · 20/11/2018 15:55

If you or your partner work in the public sector or in the private sector but dependent on public sector contracts, then any kind of brexit could be bad news but a "no-deal" brexit would certainly be very bad news. If the UK GDP is axed by 8% or more (some forecasts are twice that), the government has no option but to axe all sorts of public services.
