Brexit

Brexiteers, if there was a 'People's Vote' how would you vote?

For me? I'd flatly vote No Deal.

Would others vote to stay in the EU or agree to Teresa May's deal?

Everyone I know who voted Leave would still vote Leave (the same goes for those who voted Remain) so I'd be really curious to see what the outcome of a 2nd referendum would generate.

On its own Britain has no clout - the difficulty of getting a deal with EU should be a warning to those who claim they'd be happy with No Deal as to just how difficult it would be to secure a trade deal with anyone else after leaving. It is a total fantasy to pretend that without the heft of the EU behind us we'll be able to negotiate anything at all. We have turned the UK into the laughing stock of the world we already had the best deal of any of the EU members - outside the Euro, not part of Shengen etc - we want to chuck that away and still expect to cherry pick. People are laughing in disbelief.

{But but but.....don't they know who we are?? shock}

Due to the power of the internet with the daily ration of racist slurs and reported violence, piled on top of a government that couldn't fight it's way out of a wet paper bag that is happy to tell lies, the world can see who we have either become or always were.

1tisILeClerc · 26/11/2018 07:42

Fortunately, individuals who visit Europe are treated well, at present at least.
If you mention Brexit, you may be asked 'what the f^%k are you thinking'.
Best to move swiftly on.

Jaxhog · 26/11/2018 12:41

I'd still vote to Remain. Much as I sympathise with Brexiteers, I don't think many really appreciate the real impact 'no deal' would be. We might get lucky, but are much more likely to be headed for a major depression (worse than a recession), as businesses fail and take the economy down. The risk is too great for me.

Yaralie · 26/11/2018 16:36

I don't sympathise with brexiters at all, nor do I respect the vote of the referendum. It was ill-conceived (designed vto slap down to swivel-eyed leavers in the Tory party), fraudulent (leave campaigns used illegal methods and overspent) and won by lies (like the lie on the bus).

It is time that this country came to its senses and admitted that a dreadful mistake was made, we would never get a deal as good as the one we have, apologise to our fellow EU countries for the huge waste of time and money this nonsense has caused and revoke Article 50.

GirlsBlouse17 · 26/11/2018 17:13

I don't think those who voted leave, including myself, want your sympathy Yaralie. Your understanding maybe that many voted for different reasons that had developed over forty years. I prefer not to use the term Brexiteer because that puts everyone under the same umbrella whereas everyone voted for their own individual reasons legitimate to them. I did vote leave but if there was a second referendum I would vote remain, firstly because the dreadful mistake that we made was believing that our Government would be competent in negotiating a reasonable deal with the EU and secondly that I have come to believe that for many years our governments and media have persuaded us that the EU is a problem rather than being a good thing.

Yaralie · 26/11/2018 17:34

I apologise GirlsBlouse if you think my post was an attack on you. You were misled, like so many other decent folk and I am so glad that you now realise that being in the EU is and always has been, god for the UK.

Yaralie · 26/11/2018 17:35

good for the UK, but not god!

chloem93 · 26/11/2018 17:40

The people saying Remain seem to have forgotten that we already had that vote, get with the times.
The op if I'm not mistaken is asking about the deal situation!
I haven't gone over the details of the deal so I can't say until then but there's certain things that should happen for it to please Leave voters and I have a fear Teresa May is too weak or nice to impose those opinions onto the eu. I'd rather have a no deal and walk, rather than us pander to these jerks.

BorisBogtrotter · 26/11/2018 17:56

"The people saying Remain seem to have forgotten that we already had that vote, get with the times. "

A democracy retains the right to change its mind

!I'd rather have a no deal and walk, rather than us pander to these jerks.!

No real understanding of how negotiations work then eh?

jasjas1973 · 26/11/2018 19:11

You've not gone over the details of a no-deal either have you?

Quietrebel · 26/11/2018 19:48

but there's certain things that should happen for it to please Leave voters

What are those things?

Vicky1990 · 26/11/2018 19:59

Leave, deal or no deal.
The EU is heading down the pan so best to get out now.

1tisILeClerc · 26/11/2018 20:03

{The EU is heading down the pan so best to get out now.}
I am glad we have this detailed insight into the political and economic problems faced by the EU and discussing how the UK can improve on it.

prettybird · 26/11/2018 20:08

And your evidence that the EU is heading down the pan is........??? Hmm

Moussemoose · 26/11/2018 20:12

If the EU is heading down the pan you'd think the 27 would look at the U.K. and make our deal a good one so they could leave and get a good deal as well.

Instead they are all grouping together, pulling together you might say, in the crisis caused by the U.K. leaving.

The whole Brexit fiasco has made the EU stronger in some ways.

1tisILeClerc · 26/11/2018 20:44

SKY saying that the EU is more concerned about Russia getting involved particularly in Eastern European countries, or it might have been The Guardian comments.

BorisBogtrotter · 27/11/2018 10:17

Love how every leave poster says the EU is heading down the pan.

Doesn't matter if we are in or not, if the EU collapses the UK is fucked either way.

1tisILeClerc · 27/11/2018 10:40

I believe that when a large boat sinks one of the biggest dangers for people trying to escape by jumping into the sea is the massive suction by the sheer weight and size of the ship causing massive downwards underwater currents.
Expressing glee at your neighbour's misfortune is very unpleasant.
The USA probably sees the UK as a handy source of consumers but it doesn't want the 'country' as such. I can't see the UK being 'bought' by Russia as a pleasant thing to happen.

Aquilla · 27/11/2018 11:06

No Deal.

BorisBogtrotter · 27/11/2018 11:09

All the no dealers can't justify it.

Losers.

Hesta54 · 27/11/2018 11:26

I voted leave and still would, but I can see how divided the country is ( Parliament/business/ people) if I had my time again I would vote remain ( I still want to leave ) just so the country can get on with so many other important issues that are being neglected, I spoke to a civil servant at the weekend and she said everybody is working on Brexit and she hasn’t done any of her day job for months now.
I just cannot believe how Parliament after giving the public the vote had no plan A,B,C to deal with a leave vote, We should have never issued A50 until an agreed ( Parliament) plan was in place, we are now just chasing shadows

Vicky1990 · 27/11/2018 13:39

If the EU is such a great thing why did other EU countries, especially France, allow thousands of ILLEGAL immigrants free access and passage across there borders and territory, to facilitate there needs and allow there stay, in order for them to ILLEGALY enter the UK.

BorisBogtrotter · 27/11/2018 13:47

They didn't "allow", they actually kept them in camps and accepted far many more refugees than we did in each year following the refugee crisis.

IdaBWells · 27/11/2018 14:28

The EU is the biggest and wealthiest economic block in the world. For decades we have asked for exceptions and been granted them, we have negotiated with other partners to our advantage. If we crash out we will never have the same economic advantage again. We will never be allowed back in with all the advantages we have now. We are a small island without any meaningful political clout outside the EU. Putin is delighted he wants the EU to break up.
