Brexit

Brexiteers, if there was a 'People's Vote' how would you vote?

For me? I'd flatly vote No Deal.

Would others vote to stay in the EU or agree to Teresa May's deal?

Everyone I know who voted Leave would still vote Leave (the same goes for those who voted Remain) so I'd be really curious to see what the outcome of a 2nd referendum would generate.

Grin Buteo - he really must try harder. Grin

You might like the look of a house that was well advertised, described as a "des res" in a glossy brochure" and tarted up for viewing, but if you were tempted to buy it you would only do so "subject to survey".

If the surveyor's report said it was riddled with dry rot, suffering from subsidence and could fall into an old mine, and a fracking site was about to start up very nearby, but not near enough for the owner to claim compensation, would you still want to but it?

MissEliza · 22/11/2018 18:52

This is a monstrous calamity. I heard someone on the radio today describe it as an act of national self harm.
I voted Remain basically because I wanted to avoid the inevitable chaos and my teenage dcs who couldn't vote asked me to vote remain. However I have to say all the discussions recently have really hammered home how short sighted and blinkered the Brexiteers really are. It feels like the referendum campaign was Project Fear versus Everything will be just dandy. There was very little detailed discussion about the intricacies of leaving the EU. I do feel the political elite really let the public down. (Yes I know I'm stating the bloody obvious!)

dontalltalkatonce · 22/11/2018 18:56

Remain!

PCPlumsTruncheon · 22/11/2018 19:56

I’m going to miss Outside in a funny sort of way. I was beginning to find him mildly amusing.
I’m sure he’ll be back in a cunning disguise, he had a very distinctive posting style.

prettybird · 22/11/2018 20:17

Yes, he was quite useful as a vehicle to rebut Leaver myths Grin

I suspect that is why his handlers have told him to back off and change name again Wink as he was no longer providing a worthwhile return for their investment. Grin

KennDodd · 22/11/2018 22:23

Maybe Outside isnt around because 15 people have just come round to visit him.

Miljah · 23/11/2018 00:37

I miss outside. I enjoyed the comedy element.

But, , gone the way of all the Leavers I know. Spout a bit, then, fingers in ears, 'la la la! Can't hear you!'.

In the words of that other great idiot... Sad.

TheElementsSong · 23/11/2018 09:00

he had a very distinctive posting style.

To be fair, he/she did modify the style with each iteration, some of the more obvious "tells" in the earlier incarnations have gone. Definite improvement each time. Like the Incredibles OmniDroid versions.

BorisBogtrotter · 23/11/2018 09:14

I loved the fact that they claimed a degree in economics, then obviously had been googling terms in order to try to prove their point.

Buteo · 23/11/2018 09:37

I think that’s at least the fourth incarnation of that poster that I’ve noticed, with a probable previous version too. Some definite tells that slip through apart from the bile.

BorisBogtrotter · 23/11/2018 10:09

Oooh who were they before?

Or does MN not allow us to say?

BorisBogtrotter · 23/11/2018 10:09

Also, have there been any remainers who were as bile filed as this?

Hmm! I am a Remainrr but my understanding of a People’s Vote was to do with the Deal and not Leave or Remain.

Personally I want a deal, there’s just too many unknowns with a No Deal. It’s why I voted Remain.l.lnobody seemed to have the answers about what would happen if we voted to exit.

1tisILeClerc · 23/11/2018 10:32

{lnobody seemed to have the answers about what would happen if we voted to exit.}
Not quite true. If you have the time and inclination you can look up all the treaties that the UK had with the EU, jot them on a few reams of paper, then set light to it. For all the 'inefficiency' of the EU, most if not everything is written down, in 28 languages!

Buteo · 23/11/2018 10:32

There isn’t a deal as good as the deal that we currently have - I would hope that this was why you voted Remain?

Even our ex-Brexit secretary Dominic Raaaaab admitted on R4 Today this morning that remaining in the EU would be better for the UK than May’s current deal.

UnnecessaryFennel · 23/11/2018 10:32

Ohhhh, I've just twigged who outside is.

Should have realised earlier:

  • I'm alright jack and fuck the rest of you smuggery: tick!
  • anti-foreigner sentiment: tick!
  • furious googling followed by 'authoritative' mansplaining: tick!
  • supposedly detached political argument descending quickly into personal attacks: tick!
  • long stream of posts, one after another, 'carefully' answering several preceding posters: tick!
  • sudden disappearance: tick!

Can't wait for the next username.

1tisILeClerc · 23/11/2018 10:42

{Remaining in the EU would be better}
We need to use the past tense. We (and the EU ) have shelled out Billions in the last 2 1/2 years making preparations so even if A50 was repealed we (and the EU) are many Billions worse off.
We could have spent that money on the NHS perhaps, or starting to sort out and eliminate the need for food banks. No, we are spending it on EXCEEDINGLY expensive lawyers, turning motorways into lorry parks, buying up land and putting up extra customs infrastructure and all the rest. Apart from this direct expense, we have turned the UK into the laughing stock of the world with all the political shenanigans, and threatened our economy which will have serious impact well into the future.

GirlsBlouse17 · 23/11/2018 14:13

we have turned the UK into the laughing stock of the world

I don't think the rest of the world is really that interested in us and Brexit.

Yaralie · 23/11/2018 14:29

If we left the EU and tried to make deals of any sort with the rest of the world, they would realise that we were a poor pathetic little shadow of the once-great country we were, and desperate for any kind of deal, no matter how bad. We would need them more than they need us.

prettybird · 23/11/2018 15:36

But but but.....don't they know who we are?? Shock

Whizbang · 25/11/2018 22:59

I wouldn’t vote I don’t think. I would be too busy despairing at how dim my fellow countrymen were to still be talking of re-votes at such a late stage when it is far too late for that.
Or I’d be organising another march to urge Remainers still going on about re-votes and Brexiteers urging a vote of no confidence to grow the hell up - the politicians in particular. In life you don’t always get your own way. Most people will be pissed off about some aspect of the deal. Either grow up and accept the deal which will not cause economic ruin. Or continue as you are...stamp your feet, demand revotes and refuse to accept the result and encourage the HoC to do the same, and you will actually cause hard Brexit to happen because we will just run out of time and fall off a cliff.

twofingerstoEverything · 26/11/2018 06:33

Yeah, grow up everyone. Just sit back and accept that our government is either going to sell the country down the swannee or push us over a cliff edge. Be passive! You know it makes sense!

Buteo · 26/11/2018 07:03

Is the the start of the CCHQ PR push for the public to get behind May’s deal? Hmm
