MNHQ here: results of our Brexit survey - 71% want another referendum

RowanMumsnet · 04/09/2018 10:35

Hello

We ran a survey on Mumsnet in August-September; more than 2000 of you took part. We were asking about your thoughts about Brexit and whether there should be a second referendum.

We're releasing the results today, and they show that 71% said they wanted another referendum (although 26% don't).

60% of survey respondents said they felt misled by claims made by campaigners in the 2016 referendum, including 41% who said they felt misled by claims made by the Leave campaign and 18% who said they felt misled by claims made by both Remain and Leave.

Summing up, one respondent said 'I envisaged jobs, travel and opportunity, not having a potato delivered by the army.'

You can read all about it here.

Thanks
MNHQ

CardinalSin Yes I have, never before have I seen people trying to overturn a democratic decision in this country

Rosstac · 07/09/2018 11:49

TheElementsSong It was said in jest,

Talkstotrees · 07/09/2018 11:51

Yes millions if you include the ones that didn’t vote, because as we all know that wanted to leave and knew it was a forgone conclusion

This is the most ridiculous bollocks I’ve read on here - which is saying something. Biscuit

Nikephorus · 07/09/2018 11:52

Well given that Mumsnet is run by people who worship Labour, detest Theresa May and who wanted to Remain it's hardly surprising that they announce results that back having another referendum! Call me cynical but it's not exactly difficult to claim that results say exactly what you want them to say. I could run a poll as to who was the favourite politician ever and could claim it was Theresa May even if no-one had voted for her at all - no-one could prove otherwise...
And I didn't see this poll either.... Hmm

Rosstac · 07/09/2018 11:53

Talkstotrees Just using the none voters the same way as I keep getting told that the majority didn’t vote for Brexit when you include the none voters

topcat1980 · 07/09/2018 11:53

"Can we have the min of 5 years then, we haven’t even carried out this democratic decision yet"

No, because this isn't like an election, it can't be easlily reversed afterward.

You've had two years to show how its going to benefit the UK and to justify your reasons for leaving. None stand up to scrutiny.

topcat1980 · 07/09/2018 11:54

"Well given that Mumsnet is run by people who worship Labour, detest Theresa May and who wanted to Remain it's hardly surprising that they announce results that back having another referendum! "

That's funny cause lots of people think its the other way around.

Shows its balanced,.

Talk to trees - you have rumbled me -my posts are directed by my kremlin handlers to derail ‘sensible’ brits calling for an exit from Brexit

I think that’s strike two - strike one was the suggestion leavers don’t like foreigners back upthread.

Seriously, where do they get you people from?

CardinalSin · 07/09/2018 12:00

It's a shame Quitlings have no idea of irony...

Rosstac · 07/09/2018 12:01

topcat1980 Oh, you only like democracy when it suits you,
I suggest you take that up with Parliament, they are the ones doing the negotiations

CardinalSin · 07/09/2018 12:02

Ah, apparently changing from Labour to Tory governments suits anyone who wanted to remain.

Ross, please think about what you're typing!

topcat1980 · 07/09/2018 12:04

10degrees - your posts are full of fallacious arguments and untruths.

They also follow a style.

derxa · 07/09/2018 12:04

"Well given that Mumsnet is run by people who worship Labour, detest Theresa May and who wanted to Remain it's hardly surprising that they announce results that back having another referendum! " I agree.

topcat1980 · 07/09/2018 12:05

"topcat1980 Oh, you only like democracy when it suits you,
I suggest you take that up with Parliament, they are the ones doing the negotiations"

Of course I like democracy, but it didn't stop on the 23rd of June 2016.

Telling people to shut up is anti democratic, but that is lost on you.

10degreestostarboard · 07/09/2018 12:06

Cardinal

Please reassure us that - as well as being a remainiac zealot - you don’t also support the morally bankrupt Labour Party?

No one is surely that bereft of judgement, surely?

10degreestostarboard · 07/09/2018 12:07

Topcat wouldn’t know democracy if she/ he fell over it

Rosstac · 07/09/2018 12:07

topcat1980 I haven’t told you to shut up, just respect a democratic decision, would you prefer to be under a dictatorship ?

CardinalSin · 07/09/2018 12:09

10Shills, why on earth would I support that shower?

And what would it matter if I did?

Do you support the fantastic omnishambles that is the current Tory party?

TheElementsSong · 07/09/2018 12:12

So, any advance on several million votes? Grin

10degreestostarboard · 07/09/2018 12:12

Cardinal - on that, if I suspect not much else, we can agree. Both major parties are utterly clueless

topcat1980 · 07/09/2018 12:13

"Just respect a democratic decision,"

Don't have to, its called democracy.

We can campaign, dissent, critique all we like.

Effectively what you are saying is, you lost shut up,.

Rosstac · 07/09/2018 12:15

topcat1980 No I’m not, I just cannot believe how many people are just taking democracy for granted,

Talkstotrees · 07/09/2018 12:17

Nikephorus, are you suggesting that Mumsnet falsified the results? That’s quite some accusation.

Cobblersandhogwash · 07/09/2018 12:19

How can we respect something that 1. involved cheating and 2. is based on no facts whatsoever? No concrete deal and yet we are supposed to throw our full approval to it?

Mental. I prefer facts like understanding the deal of leaving the EU.

topcat1980 · 07/09/2018 12:19

Remainers aren't the ones intent on forcing through an agenda based on an adivsory referendum when those things were not on the ballot are anti democratic.
