MNHQ here: results of our Brexit survey - 71% want another referendum

RowanMumsnet · 04/09/2018 10:35

Hello

We ran a survey on Mumsnet in August-September; more than 2000 of you took part. We were asking about your thoughts about Brexit and whether there should be a second referendum.

We're releasing the results today, and they show that 71% said they wanted another referendum (although 26% don't).

60% of survey respondents said they felt misled by claims made by campaigners in the 2016 referendum, including 41% who said they felt misled by claims made by the Leave campaign and 18% who said they felt misled by claims made by both Remain and Leave.

Summing up, one respondent said 'I envisaged jobs, travel and opportunity, not having a potato delivered by the army.'

You can read all about it here.

Thanks
MNHQ

Oh please. You mean like the accusations which don’t stand up to scrutiny that have just been passed to the met police? Or do you mean accusations which don’t stand up to scrutiny that even corbyn has formally apologised for?

topcat1980 · 07/09/2018 13:21

Which accusations about Corbyn have been made to the met police?

I can go through them and why they don't stand up to scrutiny if you want.

Rosstac · 07/09/2018 13:22

topcat1980 Are you telling me I shouldn’t believe or trust what our PM tells us

topcat1980 · 07/09/2018 13:26

But you didn't believe of trust Cameron, you voted the opposite way from the way he campaigned for.

You choose to invoke the "He said he would enact it" as being sacrosanct because it suits you, but when you don't take everything else in the same way, it undermines your argument.

10degreestostarboard · 07/09/2018 13:30

Topcat - there you go again, ducking and dodging - the point was about the Labour Party as a body not about Jeremy Corbyn as an individual. I don’t think he is racist but I think he is prepared to turn a blind eye to those who are.

CardinalSin · 07/09/2018 13:31

"Cardinal

Do you have a point to make?"

Do you? All I see is vain attempts to score points because you can't make a single argument in favour of what you profess to be supporting. Other than "we won, you lost" obviously...

Rosstac · 07/09/2018 13:31

topcat1980 He said the government would,

1tisILeClerc · 07/09/2018 13:32

If you believe that Mrs May will get everything she calls for on the Chequers papers you will be sadly mistaken.
About 10 of the 12 items attempt to 'break' the EU red lines in one direction, or not leaving 'hard enough' according to the ERG in the other.
Why she wasted a sheet of paper writing down things that could never be achieved is a mystery.
The EU have stuck by the 'club rules' and are under no obligation to waive the rules for the UK. We helped write many of the rules originally and we certainly signed up to them so we have no grounds to complain.

CardinalSin · 07/09/2018 13:32

10Shills - why are you trying to turn this into an argument about the Labour party?

Bizarre...

mummmy2017 · 07/09/2018 13:33

Hang on..
We voted it was for leave.
Then we have a general election and for a 2nd time the UK back the leave stance.
So how can you say it's what the UK want.
You had two chance to strut your stuff and each time failed...
Live with it.

CardinalSin · 07/09/2018 13:35

So mummy is now claiming that the GE was run only on Brexit?

It gets ever more surreal.

10degreestostarboard · 07/09/2018 13:37

Cardinal - every time you pop up you literally add nothing. Is this the thread for you?

topcat1980 · 07/09/2018 13:38

I said the accusations against Corbyn didn't stand up to scrutiny.

Undoubtedly there are issues within the labour party, but no more than in any other.

I notice that when Diane Abbott and others recieve racist abuse its never credited to Conservative supporters, but anyone making antisemitic remarks is immediately called a Corbyn supporter without any evidence.

topcat1980 · 07/09/2018 13:39

The general election was not fought over Brexit, that was May's mistake, she thought that it would be the defining issue, it took a very back seat.

Rosstac · 07/09/2018 13:40

CardinalSin No she’s not, what she’s saying is 86% of people voted for parties that had that leaving the S/M and C/u was part of there manifesto

CardinalSin · 07/09/2018 13:41

Pots and kettles 10Shills, pots and kettles...

topcat1980 · 07/09/2018 13:43

" 86% of people voted for parties that had that leaving the S/M and C/u was part of there manifesto"

But Labour said they wouldn't leave the C.U?

10degreestostarboard · 07/09/2018 13:43

Topcat

Undoubtedly there are issues within the labour party, but no more than in any other.

Are you on the same planet???

10degreestostarboard · 07/09/2018 13:45

Cardinal- the irony is you are doing what you accuse me of being

Shill

Rosstac · 07/09/2018 13:45

topcat1980 They did at the time of the GE

topcat1980 · 07/09/2018 13:45

Totally on the same planet, just not hysterical.

But lets get back to brexit eh shills?

mummmy2017 · 07/09/2018 13:46

I said the general election gave people a second chance to change things...
Top blooming right people could have altered things.... They didn't...
So stop the remaining moan.

CardinalSin · 07/09/2018 13:46

Not at all, merely pointing out what you are doing. I couldn't really do it any other way...

topcat1980 · 07/09/2018 13:48

Ok so in the same vein, every party elected as government since 1975 said that they would be pro EU/EEC.

Only the Labour party campaigned against it in 1982 and lost heavily.

All of the major parties since 1982 promoted pro EU/EEC policies.

Did your side ever shut up?

Nope?

10degreestostarboard · 07/09/2018 13:49

No cardinal you are trolling and dare I say it mumsnet hq would pull you up for it were it not for the fact they presumably side with you
