Surfer doesn’t discuss the benefits of Brexit because Remainers are so mean. She’s been saying that a long, long time. Right back to her ‘walking in air’ thread in which she could not articulate one single positive of leaving the EU. Much later, she eventually admitted that her vote was about immigration. She has never put forward a cogent or coherent argument for Brexit. She can only repeat meaningless platitudes such as the one about ‘getting behind Brexit to make a success of it’. She doesn’t know how or why anyone could do that. What she means is that she doesn’t like it when people point out why Brexit will bring disaster and that it’s a really, deeply stupid idea which will only benefit the super-rich. It makes her uncomfortable because she can’t argue against us. She hasn’t got the capacity or capability. So she wants us to ‘shut the fuck up’. She will keep on with the ‘we won, you don’t get a say anymore’ forever because she doesn’t know how democracy works. Another example of this is her desire to silence the press. She is probably the most dedicated and prolific Leaver on these boards but she cannot present a single argument to support her case and because she can’t defend Brexit, she desperately wants all the critics to stop talking. Because she can’t win this conversation. She thinks winning the referendum was enough and she will never understand why it isn’t.

It's very clear Surferjet from the numerous times you have failed to be able to cite even a single benefit of Brexit than you yourself have actually no idea whether there are any.

Yes we were in a bad place before the referendum, due to the massive debt. We are still in a debt crisis, every year we are spending more than we make, massive interest payments. That’s why we have austerity, trying to get into the position where we spend less than we are making, and start to pay the debt off. That’s why the police, education, the NHS, social care is suffering, why our libraries are shutting. That’s what we should be talking about. But no, due to the fecking will of the idiotic British people, we are spending billions on the shit heap that is Brexit.

I think a lot of brexiteers blame the EU for austerity and they’re wrong. They’ll really know what austerity is if we leave with no deal.

Yup, let’s shut channel 4 down. Shoot the producers for treason. Hang or incarcerate Supreme Court judges because they’re clearly enemies of the people. Strip the entire liberal elite remoaning establishment of their jobs and titles, and perhaps send them to re-education camps? Could take some tips from how the Khmer Rouge did it, or perhaps the purveyors of Mao’s cultural revolution?

After that we could move to the more important business of deporting all forriners, perhaps building some special trains for them so we could transport them to some specially-built camps?

Also, let’s all remember the thread Surfer posted just before the snap election. She asked what all of us Remainers were going to do when Theresa May got her landslide victory. According to surfer, that would validate a hard Brexit.

Of course, the election went the other way and the hung parliament result proved that in fact the British public, by surfer’s logic did NOT endorse a hard Brexit. Luckily for May, she could shake the magic money tree for a couple of billion to buy DUP votes to push through her plans with a tiny majority but it’s funny how Leavers still want to say that the Brexit vote meant No Deal. I’d say there is a lot of evidence that a significant proportion of the electorate actually do not support No Deal. And it’s pretty vital that the press reports on this.

Be brave and list one. Just one, genuine tangible benefit. Not 'sovereignty' or 'control', but a real, identifiable economic, social or intellectual benefit.

I can't speak for everyone but I don't think anyone should be stopped from voting.

I have never suggested that people be banned from voting. In fact I would like more people to be allowed to vote. For example, I think 16 and 17 year olds should have been allowed to vote in the EU referendum.

Happy remainder here and I want more people to vote, particularly poor, young and other marginalised groups. It would improve politics immensely!

Now, about that genuine Brexit benefit? Just one.
