Why are they allowed to get away with it?

No replies wanted, just need this put out there.

Anasnake

I haven’t got all day to talk to you about brexit, just look back over this boards previous threads.

OP posts:
NameChangedAgain18 · 22/07/2018 10:57

The benefits of Brexit have been discussed a million times on these boards, by people a lot more informed & intelligent than me

No they haven’t. Believe me, I have scoured the boards looking for these benefits, because I am actually desperate for some glimmer of hope that this is not all going to be a massive disaster. But, despite repeated requests, no one has ever come up with any tangible benefits.

ny20005 · 22/07/2018 10:57

@surferjet

Why did you vote to leave ? What do you think the benefits of Brexit will be ?

No ones asking what other more intelligent posters think the benefits will be 🙄

Anasnake · 22/07/2018 10:58

You don't need all day, you've been very vocal on here and telling people to 'shut the fuck up' so I'd like to hear it from you (as would all the others who have asked), thank you.

ConstantlyCold · 22/07/2018 10:58

I also missed the many benefits explained by other posters. Any chance you could jot a few down for us?

MrsChollySawcutt · 22/07/2018 10:58

'The benefits of Brexit have been discussed a million times on these boards, by people a lot more informed & intelligent than me.'

Should be really simple for you to outline the the top 5 benefits then Surferjet.

Perhaps a link to one of these threads where others outline clearly all the wonderful benefits of Brexit. And I mean real ones, not the mythical £350M for the NHS etc.

TheElementsSong · 22/07/2018 10:58

"Each time, they have been shouted down by a small, but very aggressive & vocal pack of remainers."

How terrible. Did this shouting down look anything like this: You, & C4 news, need to respect the vote of the British people or shut the fuck up.

PostNotInHaste · 22/07/2018 10:59

Thank you for posting that Surferjet. I think that is a hugely important thing for us to recognise and something we do have in common.

At the end of the day we are all fighting for what we believe is the right thing for future generations and I think it is important that we all do acknowledge this .

BertrandRussell · 22/07/2018 11:00

Actually, one of the more philosophical rather than practical things I find depressing about Brexit is how we have let down the generation that fought in WWII and as soon as they came back voted Churchill out of office because they had had a sickener of "Little England"ism.

SoloD · 22/07/2018 11:02

surferjet

The truth is there are no benefits unless you count being able to stop Polish builders coming here and fiendishly building houses to help end the housing crisis.

There is no Brexit dividend, there is no £350 million a week for the NHS, the UK will be bound by the rules of the EU if we want to export there.

Leave is going to make us all poorer, much poorer. Some of us are going to loose our jobs. So no, we are all not going to keep quiet about this bloody awful decision.

Quietrebel · 22/07/2018 11:05

Bertrandrussell, I do think Churchill must be turning in his grave... his name and the whole war rhetoric have been perversely misappropriated by brexiteers.

Scoopofchaff · 22/07/2018 11:07

Funny how I have missed the benefits of Brexit being described a million times over.

What I didn't miss though (to borrow your words Surferjet) was a small, aggressive pack of vocal leavers who posted constantly day and night during the period leading up to the referendum. Funnily enough, most of them have disappeared now, but hats off to you at least for staying behind and defending your position. I don't agree with it but you have as much right as anyone to express it.

Its financial firms, deeply connected as they are to the rest of the European Union, have been forced into extensive contingency planning, including moving operations and staff, in order to be prepared for any possible Brexit scenario.

UK financial services pay around £70 billion a year in taxes. Why would US, Japanese or Swiss banks place their European HQs in the London now, and when they go, all the Lawyers, Accountants and other service providers will go with them.

SoloD · 22/07/2018 11:10

These are real cost of Brexit, real jobs which will be lost. This is really going to happen.

Please can someone/Anyone remind us all of the benefits of Brexit?

surferjet · 22/07/2018 11:11

Imo, Brexit was a result of large sections of the country not being listened to over their concerns re; immigration. Every time it was mentioned we’d be called racist bigots - even by politicians - so what does that do to people? It doesn’t shut them up ( & your reaction to what I said is a perfect example ) it just makes them more angry. So, in stepped UKIP to represent the lost, the people no one wanted to listen to - they couldn’t believe their luck. Millions of labour voters being dismissed as racist bigots by their own party!

The referendum was only a matter of time, if DC hadn’t given it to us someone else would have.
That’s the thing, you can’t shut people up.
Maybe Brexit will be good for the country in the end? Because this country was not in a good place before the referendum.

I'm starting to wonder if Surferjet is actually a 5th columnist Remainer as he/she is doing such a good job of fulfilling every Brexiter stereotype Wink

• Refusing to provide any benefits, despite multiple requests - referring instead to previous threads where he/she also never provided any benefits Confused

• Telling Remainers to shut up and that exercising free speech was "not British" Confused

• Telling Remainers that it is their job to "get behind Brexit" that they didn't vote for rather than the Brexiters job to deliver their glorious vision Confused

Anasnake · 22/07/2018 11:14

So 'tomorrow belongs to us' eh op ???

SoloD · 22/07/2018 11:16

Insofar as we can choose to accept chlorinated chicken and hormone injected beef if we want to have a trade deal with the US.

SoloD · 22/07/2018 11:18

surferjet

How will Brexit be good for us in the end? The costs are very clear but the benefits very vague.

Bodoni · 22/07/2018 11:18

Because of the fervid way some Leavers wish for the promised land and unicorns, I looked up Millenarianism -

“Millenarianism… is the belief by a religious, social, or political group or movement in a coming major transformation of society, after which all things will be changed. Millenarianism exists in many cultures and religions.

Increasingly in the study of apocalyptic new religious movements, millenarianism is used to refer to a more cataclysmic and destructive arrival of a utopian period as compared to millennialism.

Many if not most millenarian groups claim that the current society and its rulers are corrupt, unjust, or otherwise wrong [EU], and that they will soon be destroyed by a powerful force [right wing of the Tory party/UKIP]. The harmful nature of the status quo is considered intractable without the anticipated dramatic change.”

But post-Brexit, we will still be in the real world, people. You're going to be very disappointed.

BertrandRussell · 22/07/2018 11:18

surferjet- in the time it took you to type that last post, you could have listed 3 benefits you see Brexit bringing to this country.

SoloD · 22/07/2018 11:19

And what was wrong with the UK prior to the referendum? We had the highest growth in the G7, low unemployment, falling crime, and we recovering from a financial crisis started not in the EU but in the US.

surferjet · 22/07/2018 11:20

I could have listed 10.
But what’s the point? all you’ll do is attract everything I say.

OP posts:
surferjet · 22/07/2018 11:21

Attack even.

The irony.
