.......would you vote the same as you did originally?

OP posts:
Rosstac · 17/07/2018 14:39

Imsorrylhaventaclue I agree with you on the referendum it should have never gone to the public, but it did and it has opened a can of worms, it might of help if the government had done some planning on leaving

Rosstac · 17/07/2018 14:42

InNeedOfALieInNow How can you have negotiations when the other party knows that a bad deal will be rejected, no onus to true to negotiate

breakfastmeansbreakfast · 17/07/2018 14:44

I would remain again.

I think lots of brexiters know they made the wrong choice and would change.

Helmetbymidnight · 17/07/2018 14:44

it might of help if the government had done some planning on leaving??

Why didn't the Brexitteers do some planning? Why didn't David Davis in office do some planning? Why didn't Brexit voters think, uh oh, there is no plan here?

I do hope leave voters take ownership of their vote. You know, suck it up, get over it. They must be very pleased to be getting what they wanted. I hope when they are trying to get meds or care, in two years time, they do tell people they voted Brexit.

Imsorrylhaventaclue · 17/07/2018 14:48

It might of help if the government had done some planning on leaving

Or, I dunno, if the leave campaign had done some planning on leaving and then presented a realistic picture to the electorate rather than deliberate misinformation.

MissLingoss · 17/07/2018 14:48

Another vote - and I’m not saying there should be one - should be totally clear about asking people if they are happy with leave with the conditions as negotiated by the government.

But where does that leave people who aren't happy, but still want to leave? How would you distinguish between them and those aren't happy because they never wanted to leave in the first place?

I don't expect to be 100% happy with whatever settlement is negotiated, because it's just that, a negotiation. Nobody ever gets everything they want, they have to decide what is most important and what they're willing to make concessions on. But at the end of it all, we'll be out, which is what I voted for.

Chesntoots · 17/07/2018 14:50

Voted remain and would do so again.

otterturk · 17/07/2018 14:51

Yes
Leave

otterturk · 17/07/2018 14:52

This is such crap: I don't know a single leaver who wouldn't vote the same way again.

Rosstac · 17/07/2018 14:55

Helmetbymidnight How would the general public know if the government had done any planning on a leave vote, it is they that gave the public the vote, surely you would have expected them to consider all options before putting it to the public

Patienceofatoddler · 17/07/2018 14:57

I voted remain and would vote remain again.

But as a British/ European family living in the UK who were committed to the UK for us as a family unit the damage is done...

StrangeLookingParasite · 17/07/2018 14:58

StrangeLookingParasite How can it be a disaster, we haven’t left yet

Oh have some sense, what does it look like right now? An utter, unmitigated disaster, and all for absolutely nothing.

Rosstac · 17/07/2018 15:00

StrangeLookingParasite What disaster, everything seems the same at the moment,

Noqont · 17/07/2018 15:01

This is such crap: I don't know a single leaver who wouldn't vote the same way again.

I do.

Helmetbymidnight · 17/07/2018 15:02

surely you would have expected them to consider all options before putting it to the public

No I didn't. I knew it was a shambles.

Rosstac · 17/07/2018 15:05

Helmetbymidnight Oh you remainers are so very clever, know more than our voted and Public school educated Mp’s, you must fill so smug being your better than the government

StorminaBcup · 17/07/2018 15:06

I voted remain and I wouldn’t change my vote however I don’t think there should be a second referendum either. The decision was to leave. It’s an almighty shitstorm that Theresa is getting shafted for when we should actually be thanking her predecessor who - I believe - is currently writing his memoirs in a £25k shed.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 17/07/2018 15:07

InNeedOfALieInNow you say "leave things as they are"- but more counties will join the EU, economically inferior countries- the EU hasnt stayed as it was.
Do all remainers want to join schengen and the euro?

TheCag · 17/07/2018 15:07

@otterturk four members of my family voted leave, two would now vote remain. Just anecdotal but it’s the truth.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 17/07/2018 15:08

I don't know a single leaver who wouldn't vote the same way again how cocooned you must be.

Noqont · 17/07/2018 15:08

Oh you remainers are so very clever, know more than our voted and Public school educated Mp’s

Well that wouldn't take much tbf. Many of our MPs are fecking idiots.

Helmetbymidnight · 17/07/2018 15:08

I don’t get you. You thought there was a plan, you’ve found out there wasn’t, but you don’t care, you’d vote leave again. What’s the problem?

50shadesofgreyismylaundry · 17/07/2018 15:12

Oh you remainers are so very clever, know more than our voted and Public school educated Mp’s or self interested millionaires as you could call them.

I remain a remainer.

BreconBeBuggered · 17/07/2018 15:12

I do know Leavers who would vote Remain now. Mostly because principal players in the Leave campaign are sitting in the cheap seats jeering at the PM one minute and calling out traitors the next, whilst whining that 'the country' isn't getting behind Brexit. There's no evidence of constructive activity.
I remain a remainer.

Heatherjayne1972 · 17/07/2018 15:12

Before the 2016 ref I read somewhere that the a50 was /is deliberately set the way it is i.e the two year countdown thingy. to make it pretty much impossible to leave the eu
Apparently the reason was that the eu were concerned (. In the 1970’s this is) that a country may have a dictator type leader who might throw his toys out the pram - politically speaking
Was considered a backstop/ way to rein an unsuitable leader in
Dont think anyone imagined it would be us leaving

And yes I’d vote remain again- every time
