Good news yesterday < gets out green highlighter >
Still work to be done but it’s another step in the right direction.

Wine

Ps: completely given up on the Brexit Arms as it’s been taken over by remainers.
This is our chilled out place to post on in the run up to March 2019.

Positive people only Smile

If talk of brexit was more positive do you think it would be more positive for business too (kind of like a placebo like with housing markets), or do you think it would still be as bad?

No I don't think positive (or negative) talk makes any difference. Exporters need to sign contracts with customers overseas, they need legal certainty on how these can be drawn, after March 2019 they have no certainty.

GardenGeek is that 69p for the entire 10 year period? Does that not strike you as odd given inflation has averaged 2 %? Maybe the quantity has changed over time, so less for the same price.

@GardenGeek:

"If the rules have ensured/ improved sustainability then we should keep the same rules surely. If they don't we can change them."

I'm sorry you didn't answer my questions here. Given the further agreement happy to drop though.

"Yes this is obviously awful - and this is why people aren't positive about brexit obviously."

Fair enough. We've been actually asking Leavers why they voted for Brexit, what they currently think is going to be so great about it etc. and the closest to the consensus answer is basically "yes, we are leaving, suck it up!". Obviously, a bit of a challenging conversation there, but perhaps you'd be kind enough to share your view?

"What are you worried in particular about being expensive?"

Pretty much anything that needs to be imported is a question mark if it needs to be hauled over longer distances, pushed through customs etc. 70% of our food imports originate from the EU. It's just likely going to be a much less efficient system overall, affecting the prices accordingly. In particular, I doubt we grow enough tomatoes in this country so bad news there I guess.

Mummy I think the BINO will be the only way of actually Brexiting in the timescale we have. Being in the CU and SM is not necessarily a bad thing if allows frictionless trade, it will also leave us in a better negotiating position for all these amazing new trade deals that we are supposedly going to make. It will allow businesses to make future plans and deals, as it is a known quantity and most businesses are already geared up to operate within the criteria of the SM and CU.

The EU is made up of 27 other countries , we are currently still a member of it and have been instrumental in shaping the laws , rules, treaties over the last 40 odd years. I understand that some people in the UK may not have agreed with everything that we voted for as members. But ask yourself this , have you always got the result you wanted in every general election that you voted in ? Even if the party who you voted for won , did they fulfil all their election campaign promises every time ?

The referendum gave people a feeling of control and power over the political landscape that they have never or rarely experienced under our current FPTP voting system. The problem being that, that control was short lived and ended on the 23rd of June 2016 once all the ballots and votes were counted.

It’s positivity you’re after is it? This has cheered me right up

frumpety · 23/03/2018 07:37

The irony being that once we exit in BINO , all those who enjoyed that feeling of control and power, will see it reduced significantly, having to abide by rules that WE no longer have any say in.

surferjet · 23/03/2018 07:51

It’s interesting that all the remainers on here suffer from Schadenfreude. Well you would do wouldn’t you. I mean, you’d have to suffer from something German sounding.

frumpety · 23/03/2018 07:55

Apologies for missing umlauts. Irony and schadenfreude are different Surfer have a quick google Wink

Moussemoose · 23/03/2018 07:57

Something foreign must be bad the Brexit mantra.

Or

Esprit de corps - we will remain.

surferjet · 23/03/2018 08:02

It’s true though. On every thread since the referendum whenever anything goes wrong for Brexit you’re all rolling around on the floor in ecstasy.
You’re all bonkers.

LondonMum8 · 23/03/2018 08:02

Nice, I another BS flame attempt by @surferjet. Ah, and if everything else fails, why the heck not play that anti-German card, which is particularly funny coming from someone who is quite likely a Heil reader (where is that photo of a Heil owner posing with Hitler).

Moussemoose · 23/03/2018 08:05

I'm really positive about the fact we need another referendum. I'm really positive in believing in the power of the HoC and think they can vote and change Brexit.

I'm a bit positive when faced with this level of stupidity the British public will vote to remain.

LondonMum8 · 23/03/2018 08:06

@surferjet: here is a newsflash for you - we hate everything about Brexit, rejoice any prospects of it failing, and very proudly so. The whole process is happening against our will.

mummmy2017 · 23/03/2018 08:08

Surferjet. Do you think a some point the penny is going to drop that the EU are helping us leave the club.
The idea of us back tracking as a nation is a joke. But hey if it helps them sleep who are we to pop their bubble.

surferjet · 23/03/2018 08:08

Which is madness in itself, because if Brexit fails you’ll suffer too.
So, today’s message.
Get behind Brexit & be positive!

OP posts:
GhostofFrankGrimes · 23/03/2018 08:12

Surfer, perhaps your own beloved sovereign government should be more positive. Afterall, their own assessment reports said we will all be poorer.

Moussemoose · 23/03/2018 08:12

The EU are helping?

Incredulity - is that an English word?

mummmy2017 · 23/03/2018 08:19

They have agree to move forward.
Are letting us talk world trade.
There are no so blind as those who will not see.
What will you say when it happens. Or will you still be in Egypt. Denile

surferjet · 23/03/2018 08:19

mummmy2017
No they’ll never accept it. Never.
Lost cause.

OP posts:
Ifailed · 23/03/2018 08:23

because if Brexit fails you’ll suffer too. Not true, many people would see Brexit failing as a success if it means we remain effectively in the EU.

I assume, if that is the outcome, then you'll get behind it?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 23/03/2018 08:24

Any thoughts on the governments assessment reports or how NI will be sorted? Because if you continue to ignore, i to, can shout denial!
