Good morning Smile

Voting to leave the European Union was a monumental decision, and one that will change the direction of our Country for decades to come.
I see that as an exciting opportunity & something to be welcomed & celebrated.

So, if you see solutions instead of problems, if you see a better future for the citizens of U.K., free from the constraints of an organisation we had no control over, then this place is for you.
Of course not everything is going to run smoothly, maybe not for years, because leaving a union drowning in red tape was never going to be easy, but we are forward thinking progressive people who know the future doesn’t just mean next week.
So, here’s to our new future,
To the future of the U.K. Wine
The countdown begins.........

Well if the Express says it it must be true.

That's taken a load off my mind.

Globetrotter100 · 12/02/2018 11:52

Were the "solutions" mentioned in the OP just banter, then? Confused. I'm all excited and positive for nothing? Hmm

MichaelBendfaster · 12/02/2018 12:28

Marking place.

onalongsabbatical · 12/02/2018 12:48

I wouldn't bother placemarking, because it looks to me that this thread is going like this - happy-clappy pro-Brexiters want to have a positive-party but can't actually think of anything interesting or substantial to say, and those of us (like me) who know/think Brexit is a crock of shit but are fed up with being told we need to 'pull together' and other similar bollocks.
So, silence, almost, on both sides.

Au contraire onalongsabbatical.

Opening post by Surfer (leaver) laying out what she'd like to do with the thread.

Next 10 posts are 8 remoaners remoaning & 2 Leavers acknowledging Surfer.

Surfer posts again, trying to keep it upbeat.

Next 18 posts are overwhelmingly remoan again, with the tedious inclusion of biscuits from you onalong.

This is why people who are pro-brexit don't bother to engage on MN - not because they have 'nothing to say' but because its boring listening to/reading the same monotonous whining that comes from the same monotonous posters.

InfiniteSheldon · 12/02/2018 13:28

But upset I've just opened the post, no death threat letter for me how about you Surfer? Do we have no power then? Can't believe it, all these demands for answers and explanations I was starting to feel important Grin

mummmy2017 · 12/02/2018 13:34

Have been sat with some farmer friends this week, and quiet good to hear how they are planning to increase massively their food production of fast growing perishable goods, so already have contracts for supermarkets..

Bearbehind · 12/02/2018 14:00

Ok faith how about if remainers agree not to post on here if Leavers do actually post their 'solutions not problems'?

I'm up for that- I'll step away from this thread now but you need to keep up your side and actually discuss those 'solutions' surfer so specifically referred to.

surferjet · 12/02/2018 14:10

Problem - remainers see nothing but doom & gloom & actively want Brexit to fail.

Solution - ignore this negativity and surround yourselves with optimistic happy people.

OP posts:
Bearbehind · 12/02/2018 14:12

So 'solutions' are just more rhetoric and happy clappy bollocks then Hmm

Why am I not surprised?

Enjoy your cult.

LondonMum8 · 12/02/2018 14:17

Amusing to see Leavers yearning for a bit of a feel-good echo chamber :)

GhostofFrankGrimes · 12/02/2018 14:18

This is a thread for people who want to bury their heads in the sand.

surferjet · 12/02/2018 14:21

No it’s not a cult, stop being ridiculous Bear, it’s just a thread for people looking forward rather than backwards. We’re leaving the EU so it’s about time you ditched the ‘we’re all doomed’ attitude & started to embrace change. You never know, you might like it.

OP posts:
Bearbehind · 12/02/2018 14:27

It is a cult surfer.

On of the definitions of 'cult' is a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular thing.

You only want to discuss the parts of Brexit you like, namely just the ability to say we're leaving.

You and your comrades have absolutely no interest in discussing any of the issues related to Brexit because you think they are just going to magically disappear and everything will be fine.

This and the fact you find the need for a 'special place' were you can all congregate and shut out the real world, is about as cult-like as you can get.

MichaelBendfaster · 12/02/2018 14:39

Have been sat with some farmer friends this week, and quiet good to hear how they are planning to increase massively their food production of fast growing perishable goods, so already have contracts for supermarkets

Oh?! Which supermarkets? I'm not sure how contracts in this context work; can you explain a bit more?

surferjet · 12/02/2018 14:42

On of the definitions of 'cult' is a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular thing - that’s more you than me, you’re the one still worshipping at the altar of the EU. & You only want to discuss the parts of Brexit you like, which happens to be the bad bits.

OP posts:
GhostofFrankGrimes · 12/02/2018 14:45

Ffs, nobody worships the EU, theyd just prefer a reason to leave that wasn’t based on lies and slogans.

At least you’ve admitted their will be bad bits to Brexit

DGRossetti · 12/02/2018 15:06

Oh?! Which supermarkets? I'm not sure how contracts in this context work; can you explain a bit more?

And answer came there none.

All I remember farmers talking about when I had chance to meet them was how much the big supermarkets had the whip hand. Generally the farmer would be told that "we're doing a special on potatoes ... 20% off" which was just the supermarket telling the farmer they'd get 20% less for a week. And unless the economics of selling a lot of produce have changed (they haven't) then the supermarkets still have the whip hand.

One of the reasons we can keep food relatively cheap in the UK is that the majority of produce is bought by a few massive supermarkets which simplifies the overheads. Imagine going from supplying 2-3 big customers to tens of thousands of (non existent) independent greengrocers. Ditto meat.

The days of the romantic idyll of young people of indeterminate gender rolling over the Yorkshire dales delivering a small white to the old lady at the top of the hill are gone. Forever.

For some reason whenever Brexiteers lauch into their farming speil, I can't help but remember the USSR posters and film clips

Or ...

Why are Leavers so childish? You've just turned everything round on me like a playground quarrel.

Where have I once said the EU was perfect?

How can I possibly 'like' the bad bits of leaving.

This level of discussion really is so infantile.

InfiniteSheldon · 12/02/2018 15:43

Diazepam would be a good solution

DGRossetti · 12/02/2018 16:00

I've never seen a Remainer who hasn't immediately admitted the EU wasn't perfect.

I've never met a Leaver who has admitted Brexit won't be perfect.

Says it all.

Globetrotter100 · 12/02/2018 16:00

Also more biscuits. Which increasingly look like sunshine with a red-hot centre of delusion...Biscuit

I wonder what the fast growing perishables are?

Common sense ?
