Good morning Smile

Voting to leave the European Union was a monumental decision, and one that will change the direction of our Country for decades to come.
I see that as an exciting opportunity & something to be welcomed & celebrated.

So, if you see solutions instead of problems, if you see a better future for the citizens of U.K., free from the constraints of an organisation we had no control over, then this place is for you.
Of course not everything is going to run smoothly, maybe not for years, because leaving a union drowning in red tape was never going to be easy, but we are forward thinking progressive people who know the future doesn’t just mean next week.
So, here’s to our new future,
To the future of the U.K. Wine
The countdown begins.........

But upset I've just opened the post, no death threat letter for me how about you Surfer?

Was that supposed to be funny? considering Brexit supporting MP’s are receiving letters like this from ‘the real 48%’

“If you attempt to take away part of someone’s identity, there are consequences. We have watched as you have led us to the edge of the abyss. We will watch no longer. You have taken lives on our side. Now we will take lives on yours. We are coming for you.”

I always knew the fanatical remainers were mentally fragile, but this just proves how deranged they are.
I’m actually thinking of name changing ( & advise other leavers to consider it ) as I really feel we’re on very dangerous ground with these people.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/02/2018 07:26

I’d mentioned the death threats sent to prominent remainers on the brexit arms threads in the past. Response was silence. A man is in jail for threats to Gina Miller.

Bearbehind · 13/02/2018 07:27

surfer I think you might need the smelling salts.

Your first quote above was made by a fellow Leaver.

And God only knows where the second one has come from

InfiniteSheldon · 13/02/2018 07:27

Yes I did think it was funny, my point being we aren't prominent or powerful Leavers just posters on a website wanting a positive outcome

InfiniteSheldon · 13/02/2018 07:29

Tbf is not a joking matter but I've never been very PC

frumpety · 13/02/2018 07:29

I saw that Surfer and do you know what my first thought was ? absolutely despicable , my second thought was , bet those were written by leavers .

I think we should start a new campaign #BeNice .

frumpety · 13/02/2018 07:37

Although it didn't mention traitor , lock them in the tower or will of the people so possibly not Wink

frumpety · 13/02/2018 07:40

Back to the positives , it isn't snowing , yet Grin

surferjet · 13/02/2018 07:56

It’s ok InfiniteSheldon - I’m not normally PC either, it’s just a bit worrying that we could be talking to people who are members of ‘the real 48%’

But anyway......on to happier things.

Ah Leaver's Lagoon is here - nice one Surfer Flowers

Yes it's bitter out but no snow yet. Smile

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/02/2018 08:15

Ah, so are we classing being non pc as a positive then?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 13/02/2018 08:39

And God only knows where the second one has come from

Bear - the second quote was what has been written in the letters hand delivered by 'The Real 48%' to Brexit supporters.

It's all a bit sinister really, but in all honesty it's likely to be a group of idiot students rather than a credible threat (I hope, anyway).

mummmy2017 · 13/02/2018 08:46

I went into town yesterday, and do you know people were out, having meals and no one was worried and crying about leaving, they all seemed quiet happy having a meal, or shopping.
Maybe they think that they don't have to worry and can just carry on as things won't be much different to now.
In fact people were spending more money, I tend to look at how many bags people are carrying as it shows if they are spending money.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/02/2018 08:53

Let’s not play victim top trumps now. Little has been said by leavers here about tabloids screaming traitor. Nor has much been said about threats made to Remainers on social media.

All threats are abhorrent whether made to remainers or leavers.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 13/02/2018 08:57

Who's playing 'victim top trumps'?!
(Apart from you).

Bearbehind · 13/02/2018 09:26

surfer decided it was appropriate to post a comment which wasn't even from MN let alone this thread and tell all Leavers to name change Hmm

If that's not playing the victim I'm not sure what is?

Bearbehind · 13/02/2018 09:32

mummmy why do you insist on seeing everything in such a 1 dimensional way.

Yesterday you were going on about the country never EVER recovering, today your saying everything is fine because people are continuing to live their lives.

It's just impossible to discuss this subject with someone who's views are so simplistic.

twofingerstoEverything · 13/02/2018 13:14

but don't expect me to sympathise in your grief masturbating you lost the vote let's move on.

How lovely.

twofingerstoEverything · 13/02/2018 13:16

it’s just a bit worrying that we could be talking to people who are members of ‘the real 48%’

...or even the illuminati...

twofingerstoEverything · 13/02/2018 13:18

In fact people were spending more money, I tend to look at how many bags people are carrying as it shows if they are spending money.
That sounds like a very sound methodology for arriving at a particular conclusion.

MichaelBendfaster · 13/02/2018 13:34

What I was trying to understand was why leaving the EU would mean a sudden increase in the desire to invest in technology ? Or is it simply a case of producers doing what they have always been doing , using new technology as it comes a long and when it becomes affordable to utilise ?

Yes, this (sorry, missed a lot of discussion overnight).

Also, there are many reports of food being left unpicked and spoiling because workers from other EU countries are no longer coming to do the work and British people won't or can't do it.

It's possible, of course, that people from Southeast Asia, India etc could come and do that work instead (which would presumably be very acceptable for those like Corcory who despair of the EU's 'racist' FOM position).

But Theresa M has gone very quiet about India ever since they made clear that they want easier ingress to the UK in exchange for better trade deals. Which makes me ponder whether she's that keen on encouraging a lot more Indian people to come here.

It's a long way to come from China, India et al too.

DGRossetti · 13/02/2018 14:11

What I was trying to understand was why leaving the EU would mean a sudden increase in the desire to invest in technology ?

If travel is problematic, remote conferencing might become more extant ?

Corcory · 13/02/2018 18:03

Leaving the EU obviously has nothing to do with investing in technology. But technology is improving dramatically so there will be less reliance on EU or any other labour for picking or packing.

Ifailed · 13/02/2018 18:07

It seems to me that the leavers on here want to boast about how un-PC they are, the weather and the local shopping habits.

No mention of any solutions to the problems that brexit causes, as mentioned by the OP in their initial post. Why - don't they have any?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/02/2018 18:09

Will this new technology be imported post Brexit? From EU countries?
