twofingers - I don’t think you will find your answers anywhere to be honest (and certainly not on those type of Facebook pages). The answers will be in the final deal whatever form that takes.

Speaking for myself I’m certainly not angry, why would I be, as far as I am aware we are still leaving, should that change then my mood might be somewhat different.

And I apologise for the misquote in my earlier post.

The very first post on this thread after the OP was a remain voter describing 'many' Brexiters as moronic & infantile, followed by a post describing Brexit's 'adamant supporters' as 'deeply hostile'. Then associations with EDL, NF, BNP etc.

Why immediately set the tone to adversarial, sneery & hostile immediately?

Pointless.

Too many immediatelys in my last post 😳
Sorry!

I'm not angry either fwiw.

Good to see you've started as you left the last thread faith i.e., the unappointed thread police with zero and intention of discussing anything about the actual subject.

I'm mystified as to why you clearly read every word with the sole intention on swooping in and stirring the pot.

I'm assuming the fact mummmy is completely ignoring my question about financial services and no deal is because she's put that problem in the box marked 'a bit difficult' so it can be imagined it doesn't exist.

Report
FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 19/01/2018 21:13

I'm not the thread police Bear! πŸ˜‚

I'm not being goady or stirring the pot - I choose not to get into the circular arguments is all.

I'm not bad tempered or 'angry' at all, & I'll be perfectly fine & reasonable with people if they're the same.

Why go straight into a new thread with an adversarial attitude? That's all I was saying.

Bear - you know full well that Faith has contributed lots on the Brexit Arms threads covering all manner of things including NI. There are only so many times you can give the same responses about issues before it gets very frustrating and tedious. You have had all our views/opinions/suggestions on these subjects over the last two years, we can’t provide more than that. We don’t have the answers and we don’t need to have the answers, not our remit. That’s shit for higher up to deal with (or not depending on your viewpoint) and what they get paid a lot of money to do.

Report
Bearbehind · 19/01/2018 21:24

I do get that some people think it's pointless contributing.....so they just don't bother.

I genuinely don't understand the motivation of someone who has no intention of contributing anymore but reads every word and is the first to pile in and chastise people for their tone or language or whatever else doesn't suit.

It's most bizarre.

By "circular" arguments you mean debate?

I have seen lots of questions and fact based propositions. At the end of the last thread the SM was explained yet again for a posters who asked. If you are only prepared to explain once or twice then perhaps this isn't the thread for you. If you don't want to go over old ground then please don't bother to read.

This is a place for debate, discussion and the exchange of opinions. If you want an echo chamber I am sure there are appropriate places you can go and agree with likeminded individuals. Personally I find listening to people who agree with me tedious. I welcome reasoned arguments that challenge my opinions. I just don't get any.

From the very first Brexit Arms thread, their purpose was a neutral place for idle chit chat.
This thread is as much for me as it is for anyone.

If you want a 'serious debating thread' then why not start one?

moussemoose just a quick question, have you been on the EU Ref boards long?

Report

I do think it's quite telling that the only Leave posters who have engaged lately are mummmy who resolutely ignores anything difficult and doubletrouble who had precisely zero knowledge of any of the complexities of Brexit.

They're not exactly doing a great deal for the voice of Leave.

Far from not wanting to engage, I think the problem is, an awful lot of Leave voters think Brexit began an ended on 23rd June 2016 and many of the other Leavers won't or don't want to admit there aren't any actually any answers to the problems that are arising,

Mousse,

Sunday 30th October 2016:

'The Brexit Arms' is now open. Friendly cosy pub with log fire for leavers & remainers to chat & ponder life, the universe, & Brexit

I've been on them since the very first one, as has 🐻 - there's been spats & truces, serious discussions & silliness over the last 15 months.

If something new or interesting is happening, then I am always ready & happy to engage & debate - if it's unnecessary snideyness then I tend to respond in kind.

🐻 was the very first poster (after the OP) on the very first thread!!!:

"OMFG, I can't believe you're actually deluded enough to think we can all 'agree to disagree' on this.
^
Unless you're planning on upping your game and actually entering into discussions it's going to be very quiet.

Even then this is going to end very badly.^"

So shall we ponder how the UK will continue to trade, post Brexit, with those countries around the world that currently have some form of trading agreement with the EU - anything from a Free Trade Agreement to a single sector operational agreement (eg aviation). They total somewhere around 750.

Bear in mind that we cannot make our own Free Trade Agreements until we have left the EU, we do not have a UK seat at the WTO but we are there, currently as a member state of the EU.

Will our international trade increase, and if so how? Does being a member of the EU prevent increasing trade?

I'd say that first post was actually pretty prophetic!

"Ponder" - to think about something carefully. Implications of consideration and debate.

If you want 'idle chit chat" then perhaps one of the most far reaching and serious decisions of our life time isn't the best topic.

Do I need to "up my game and enter a discussion"? My specialism is constitutional issues, ask and I will endeavour to respond - even if I have made the same point before ( through many name changes).

Are you prepared to respond to points or will you dismiss them as "pish"? Are you prepared to respond to points or will they be "circular" or beneath you, or boring, or any other reason you give to not respond to genuine questions.

JWIM - trade is not an area I know a lot about. Assuming Brexit occurs what do you think the prospect for trade is?

Has being part of the EU made us less likely to seek out new trading opportunities or has it allowed us greater flexibility?

Well a thread with Brexit in the title sounds like the place to discuss Brexit.

I am trying to discuss Brexit - see my previous post.

If I wanted to make snidely comments to an echo chamber I would look for a thread called "talking to people who agree with me while being a bit of a cow".
