I've only given a tenner, but there are plenty of rich people (unless it's all stealth boasting about dipique candles) here, so we should be able to help.

It's currently at 18.507k and needs 70!

you do realise OP that it was a POLL Hmm
Using data from the 30,000-strong election study internet panel, the 4,000-strong NatCen referendum survey, and the 3,000-strong British Social Attitudes survey, the research built up a detailed portrait of who voted for Leave. Here’s what they found.
they had no idea how anyone voted or why they did - the only info from the referendum vote was which constituency voted for leave or remain. Ethnicity, age, social class, income, education level was NOT on the ballot paper.
Why do so many people have trouble understanding this?

Ok, but what if this plan fails too?

Can we just have another vote after that? And then another, until we get what we want?

Report
londonrach · 10/12/2016 12:02

I voted remain but this stopping brexit is childish and makes the uk look really bad. Accept it op the people voted for brexit, IT WILL HAPPEN. If it doesnt there is something seriously wrong with our laws and country.

I voted remain and was shocked when the vote was leave but I've calmed down now and think the UK will probably be ok. The result of the referendum must be respected otherwise we can't claim to live in a democratic nation. We all had an equal vote which, in itself, should be celebrated.

I've been disgusted about some of the things I've read about people who voted brexit - thick, uneducated, northern blah blah blah. Such arrogance and this ridiculous crowdfunding petition (to make lawyers richer) is another example of arrogance.

I don't want to say anything inflammatory but it was the less educated people below middle class that voted en mass for it.

That's pretty inflammatory. You're saying thick poor people voted for it. I'm a firm remainer, but I know several people with PhD's and plenty of money who voted to leave. It's called democracy.

I'd spend your money on a Diptyque candle instead OP, rather than wasting it on a campaign that will never happen.

My DH is a Oxbridge educated lawyer and voted leave, for reasons based on legal stuff too difficult for me to grasp. (He loves a scented candle.) YABU.

Report
MarieBurnham · 10/12/2016 12:34

the percentage of people who voted remain increased as the level of education increased.
There will of course be highly educated people who voted leave as there will be people with low level education who voted remain.

Thanks for speaking some logic! Just because you or someone you know with a PhD voted for brexit that is irrelevant for the generalisations.

The fund is still going up, its half way there. So will probably reach its target over the weekend.:)

FFS op!! When are you, and other disgruntled REMAIN voters going to accept the decision that was voted on by Joe Public?? We voted, we made the decision to leave. Accept it. Or are you going to vociferously complain the next time we vote DEMOCRATICALLY and the 'wrong' party gets elected?? Are you really Donald Trump who said he would reject a result where he lost the presidential election?? Get a grip. Get a life!!!

(And no, I didn't vote as I was in NY at the time and couldn't be bothered to register for a postal/early vote.)

You like sweeping generalisations, so where is yours for all these leave voters that were uneducated, didn't know what they voted for and have now changed their mind?

Not all remain voters think like you either, there are plenty on this thread, including me.

All this proves is that some people have a very hard time not getting what they want and accepting that their equals have another opinon to them.

I voted Leave. I made a decision that I'm comfortable with. This is not a productive use of your time.

You should be petitioning for 'the people' to have a say in the new rules of market access.

It's happened, you can't change it, you can however write to you MP and do this, best of all it's the price of a stamp.

^^That is precisely what the case is all about, isn't it?! They are wanting a "Brexit for the 100%".

Not according to the OP it's not, it's about (her own words) "new legal action to stop brexit."

Report
80sMum · 10/12/2016 13:11

justanother, writing to ones MP regarding the Brexit deal will be utterly pointless, because Brexit (currently) will not involve Parliament. There will be no debate and no vote, if the government gets its way.

Report
JustAnotherSimpleOldNumber · 10/12/2016 13:14

Parliament do get to scrutinise the deal.

Obviously the whole plan will not be made public but the general outline will be.
This is what happened last week.

Report
80sMum · 10/12/2016 13:18

justanother Parliament can scrutinise it, yes. But can it oppose any part of it, or reject any part of it? What if it's a bloody awful deal? What then?

Most people had no idea what they were voting for, this would be a much fairer vote.

ODFOD.

And I'm not sure where you get off calling Leave voters 'uneducated' when you can't spell Diptyque and you've just chucked a tenner away.
