Can I start a conversation about Mark Carney? I'm torn between believing he should be sacked for interfering and scaremongering, allowed to resign as he was and is an arse and BorE could be better run (really there was no need to drop interest rates). On the other hand we are financially relatively calm and confident at the moment and so there's no need to rock the boat. Perhaps we could set the pool table up with him on the stripes?

Kaija · 31/10/2016 17:03

What do you think he has done wrong, IS?

autumnintheair · 31/10/2016 17:08

Well after bumbling in all giddy like and standing at the bar rambling away, I am now sat by the cosy fire, a glass of shiraz warming in my hand gorgeous pub you have here Surfer.

InfiniteSheldon · 31/10/2016 17:11

Interfering in politics, scaremongering mainly being wrong.

Kaija · 31/10/2016 17:18

How did he interfere, and what was he wrong about?

Corcory · 31/10/2016 17:22

Some of the Westminsters think it is a Weatherspoon's autumn. I say let them think that. They have made loads of derogatory remakes about the pub as well so I think they should be barred if they can't behave! Mine's a sweet sherry.

IamWendy · 31/10/2016 17:46

Just seen the comments about the brexit pub. I'm beginning to think maybe one or two prolific posters have been barred from the mn pub, not seen them about for a while Grin
Still, I might miss being told how my ignorance is no match for her intelligence....nah! Wine

Corcory · 31/10/2016 17:55

Like it Wendy!

Tryingtosaveup · 31/10/2016 17:57

I love this pub. Glad we kept to imperial measures. I'll just pull myself a half of bitter shandy.
I don't think anyone has been barred.
IS I agree about mark Carney. I think he was overreacting about Brexit but I think he really believed the economy would tank.
I think we need him to stay until we actually leave which should coincide with the end of his 8 years. What do you think.
Right, now going to aim darts at the war criminal.
He really doesn't learn does he? His intervention on any topic is toxic.

BoredofBrexit · 31/10/2016 18:02

Shambling in, jet lagged from Dubai. Yep, reasonably financially astute brexiteer looking to get pasted...rather than a pasting. Also think Carney has no value, we need someone who sees the global situation for what it is, esp Europe.

RortyCrankle · 31/10/2016 18:08

Couldn't agree more re Carney, InfiniteSheldon

Pots one of Junker's balls into the corner pocket .... Smile

Kaija · 31/10/2016 18:28

But what was Carney wrong about?

InfiniteSheldon · 31/10/2016 18:36

[fwine]

InfiniteSheldon · 31/10/2016 18:37

Oh I hoped that would be mulled wine I shall stick to the merlot

autumnintheair · 31/10/2016 18:54

So, Sat here in the chair by the fire I am reading thus Tony Blair " We have to understand" ,kicks straight off with the usual patronising tripe "we are not going to be conducting this negotiation with a group of European businessmen who may well decide that what they want is the maximum access to the Uk and they may be prepared to be quite forgiving as it were"
"The people we will be conducting this negotiation with will be the political leaders of the European union so this is going to be a negotiation of enormous complexity"

So as Blair counts on the will of the people shifting I take my place before the darts board, Bulls Eye, Get innnnnn

surferjet · 31/10/2016 19:04

Hi all!
Jeez I need a drink, busy day at work & poxy Halloween. If one more kid knocks on my door I swear I'll scream.

Who's got the darts? I really need to through a few!

IamWendy · 31/10/2016 19:14

I've rigged up my ds's nerf gun to fire darts. Who wants a go!

scaryteacher · 31/10/2016 19:16

Carney has now said he will stay til 2019, and leave three months after Brexit. I had read that there was a very good Indian banker who had just left The Bank of India and whom we could do worse than employ. Carney is Goldman Sachs - therefore a black mark against him.

I don't know if anyone saw Hardtalk with the Aussie Trade minister recently? He's willing to have a trade deal with us. I know that it's all very complex, but why do some think that we can't cope outside the EU? Other nations manage to have trade deals with the EU without all the political crap that goes with being a member state.

Sorry scary, I know it will make to difference, but here it is ..

surferjet · 31/10/2016 19:34

Because they have no faith in this country, absolutely none. I don't think they like identifying as British either, they see themselves as 'European' - I think they're worried that now we're no longer in the EU they can't read le Monde outside overpriced bistros in Hoxton.

OP posts:
jaws5 · 31/10/2016 19:39

you don't like that they identify as European? and sneer at anyone reading anything in "foreign". Hmm

InfiniteSheldon · 31/10/2016 19:40

I think there's a copy of Le Monde in the toilets. I do think the Cameron toilet paper is going a little too far but wiling to be overruled by the majority 😄

MrsPeterDoherty · 31/10/2016 19:41

I've never been to Hoxton, and I can't read French, but I know that brexit will be a disaster. Working class, not metropolitan elite, nothing to celebrate but will drown my sorrow in a pint or two

surferjet · 31/10/2016 19:46

Hello MrsPeterDoherty, I used to like the Libertines.
