Good morning.
I am following a lot of conversations and events about the referendum and there are a lot of assertions about "what the referendum was about" and "why people voted" and "what people want."
I just wanted to ask, neutrally, if you believe that we should leave the EU what good things do you want to happen or believe will happen when we do?
I can't account for anyone else, but I have seen some really nasty referendum threads and I often get upset about it myself, so I want to say I will not attack or even argue with anyone, I'm just interested to hear the wishes and opinions of people who want positively to leave. It is such an emotive issue - not least to me - and maybe there are some views we haven't heard yet.
Thanks if you do answer! And thanks for reading.

That's quite correct, Small, I couldn't give a fuck what you think is hilarious or not.

user1470043860 · 10/10/2016 14:49

Do you know what totalitarianism is btw

Of course I do, do you?

IVotedOut · 10/10/2016 14:50

saying all politicians lie is absolving those who ran the campaign from utterly misguiding those voting for them.

You see, smallfox, I think that's hit the nail on the head. You see, I, and many others like me, didn't vote for them. We voted for ourselves, because of our views and preferences. Not for the campaigners.

ManonLescaut · 10/10/2016 14:50

No the Sun said that David Cameron said that leaving would trigger WW3 - see what I mean about swallowing lies?

ManonLescaut · 10/10/2016 14:52

If you know what totalitarianism is why are you describing the EU thus?

user1470043860 · 10/10/2016 14:52

A typical remainist attitude. Trying to align what I've said with being a Sun Reader.

CeciledeVolanges · 10/10/2016 14:52

Well I feel responsible for this mess now. Pointless to ask people to take it elsewhere.

So read Cameron's actual words in that speech.

ManonLescaut · 10/10/2016 14:56

"Can we be so sure peace and stability on our continent are assured beyond any shadow of doubt? Is that a risk worth taking? I would never be so rash to make that assumption."

Those were Cameron's words.

time4chocolate · 10/10/2016 14:56

Some people don't understand the concept of us thinking for ourselves - they assume we have taken all our information and based such a huge decision on information plastered on the side of a bus!!

user1470043860 · 10/10/2016 14:57

Manon,

Let me put it simply for you. The EU has been specifically designed to ensure that the "people" never get the upper hand again.

....and those that try, the people of the UK for example, have been warned that they will be needed to dealt with harshly to serve as a warning to others.

IVotedOut · 10/10/2016 14:58

It started off so well Op!

user1470043860 · 10/10/2016 14:58

Well said Time4Chocolate.

user1470043860 · 10/10/2016 14:59

Manon,

Have you read 1984? You should.

DarlingBuddyOfMay · 10/10/2016 14:59

You tried, Cecile. Thank you for that but it really a pointless pursuit.

CeciledeVolanges · 10/10/2016 14:59

If this thread does any good it will be if everyone goes off and reads 1984 and comes back when they have finished :)

It started off so well Op

Remainists have shown time and again that that have little respect for democratic opinion or even the opinion of others.

ManonLescaut · 10/10/2016 15:01

The Sun: David Cameron ribbed over predictions of WW3

I've read all of Orwell, including his journalism.

Sorry Cecile, I'll stop. Wine

DarlingBuddyOfMay · 10/10/2016 15:01

Aw, there will still be those voices who tell us we've read it wrong, we haven't understood, we shouldn't have been trusted to read it and should have stuck with The SunSmile

smallfox2002 · 10/10/2016 15:03

Oh dear User, yo think voting for brexit was a vote for the people?

Go take a look at what the kind of free trade deals Liam Fox wants will bring.

Timefchocolate, the thinking for yourself thing is all very well and good, but then the majority of people who voted leave then parrot something that they read in the media which confirmed preconceived prejudices, like the WW3 thing.

Mental.

user1470043860 · 10/10/2016 15:03

Manon,

I'd be very interested to know why you DON'T think the EU will become a totalitarian state.

Now, I've just read that you are stopping, please don't, enlighten me.

jaws5 · 10/10/2016 15:03

If this thread does any good it will be if everyone goes off and reads 1984 and comes back when they have finished smile
could I also recommend Politics and the English Language?

time4chocolate · 10/10/2016 15:04

Don't worry OP, looking on the positive side you nearly made it to one full page before it went TU, that's quite an achievement Wink

user1470043860 · 10/10/2016 15:04

Oh dear User, yo think voting for brexit was a vote for the people

It was my very small way of sticking two fingers up to the totalitarians. Deal with it.
