To feel really positive about leaving the EU

I know there has been lots of fear stories but in a few weeks since the vote we have managed to get a new PM who seems more than capable and we are now in control of our destiny without being ruled by an unelected and unaccountable EU. The EU has for a long time been a basket case and has condemned much of the youth of Southern Europe to decades of unemployment, it's a relief to be out. Do remember we are now free to negotiate our own trade deals with the rest of the world and most countries are not in the EU and seem to do well. There have been so many fear stories which have been peddled by self interest. I wonder in 5 years time how many remainers will be asking to rejoin the EU!!

You still haven't explained why you believe us leaving the EU to be a good thing, and how the economy will improve as a result.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/07/2016 23:47

I'm optimistic too OP.

I hope our new Secretary of State for Exiting Europe and his team is up to the job.

Alisvolatpropiis · 13/07/2016 23:47

The FTSE 100 is high now because we have acquired a PM who isn't a head banging moron so we have at least two years of stability, more depending on when art50 is invoked.

It won't be high once art50 is invoked, it won't be high at the end of negotiations when we actually leave, with whatever piss poor deal we get.

The value of the pound is falling, regardless of the FTSE100 fyi.

AnnaPhylaxis · 13/07/2016 23:48

Talking doesn't tank the economy, brexit does.

JeanGenie23 · 13/07/2016 23:48

I voted remain.

I don't read the guardian. I rent, work from home and have a small income. I don't liked to be labelled because of my choice any more than you do Kitty.

If you want to talk about low IQs look at this for a gem. Twat.
As I say lots to be positive about Hmm

So in the last five years people have been rightly complaining people can't get on the housing ladder, falling house prices mean they can.

What a naive view. Do you think banks will faciliate mortgages more easily in a recession? Oh yes. I forgot. From the money tree that will magically spring. Biscuit

Whisperingeye1 · 13/07/2016 23:49

Foreign investors are buying because the pound is so weak. People are not talking down the country. They are dealing with the actual consequences and being realistic.

Alisvolatpropiis · 13/07/2016 23:49

And that's our Foreign Secretary. Wonderful. I feel so positive now!

BrexitentialCrisis · 13/07/2016 23:50

Alis is absolutely right- what you've essentially done kitty, is vote to remove vital checks and balances that have so far staved off the attempts of the most hard nosed right wing government we've had in years to impose crippling legislation. Theresa May isn't the biggest fan of the human rights act or freedom of movement so you can look in optimistically as the nasty party rolls in and makes itself fully at home with no functioning opposition party to act as an active counter. Take back control indeed (Facepalm).

kitty1976 · 13/07/2016 23:50

It is funny that all the people who voted remain said everything will go down hill, now the FTSE100 is higher they say it will go down later. It's funny when people are proved wrong the goal posts change!!

OnesieTheQueensSelfie · 13/07/2016 23:51

Katie, is that you...

Alisvolatpropiis · 13/07/2016 23:53

It would be funny...if that was what was actually what people were doing.

Hmm

People who voted remain tended to look at the bigger, longer term picture, Kitty.

I really hope you are right and I am wrong. Because otherwise the poorest and most vulnerable will suffer terribly.

kitty1976 · 13/07/2016 23:54

We hardly have a hard nosed right wing government. Did you hear May's speech that could have been new labour. The tories are moving to the centre ground. As for labour they seem to be imploding which is bad.

OnesieTheQueensSelfie · 13/07/2016 23:54

Yes, it's so very funny. Oh my sides. Stop it OP.

Alisvolatpropiis · 13/07/2016 23:55

So you're going to ignore my post re human rights abuses then, Kitty?

canarywharfmums · 13/07/2016 23:56

Agree
My friend director in Jaguar is really excited too re deals with China
city staff are excited re India
Could be a new Elizabethan age of trade

London has so much to offer the world outside of EU trade constraints

OnesieTheQueensSelfie · 13/07/2016 23:57

Oh great. Let's go back 500 years. Yeah! Progress!!

ilovesooty · 13/07/2016 23:57

You can't argue with stupid really can you?

BrexitentialCrisis · 13/07/2016 23:58

It will probably take about 500 years to set these trade deals up!

OnesieTheQueensSelfie · 13/07/2016 23:59

YY sooty. As George Bernard shaw said...

PerpendicularVincent · 14/07/2016 00:01

Negative equity and lower house prices are a good thing?

What about people not being able to afford to move and a potential rise in interest rates?

My company have already started making redundancies due to the ramifications of Brexit.

But none of that compares to getting excited and writing lots of exclamation marks.

kitty1976 · 14/07/2016 00:03

People seem to be really out of touch with what most of the voting electorate thinks and when the majority of people disagree then just call them stupid!!!
