Why are Leave voters afraid of a second referendum? Don't they trust the results?

If you really believe in democracy and that the Leave vote was the will of the people, then surely you will be confident that a second referendum would have exactly the same outcome?

But Leavers aren't, are they - they're terrified of a second referendum because they know that the results would be Remain.

From which we can infer that there is actually a real lack of depth, of meaning, in the Leave vote, given that it would be overturned in a second referendum. Which totally supports the view that there should be a second referendum.

I guess you can just ignore those of us for who this isn't the case? Since you want the immigrants out anyway, its no skin off your nose how many of them suffer now, is it?

Where on MN have I said that, please prove it? I don't want a single immigrant to leave the UK.

Peppatina · 01/07/2016 20:19

I'm not scared of the actually act of a second referendum exactly...

More the fallout such a decision would cause.

The world is watching. Our government asked the country a question and it was answered.

What would a vote be worth if they turned around and said 'Fuck you, try again' to more than half of the people who actually got out and voted.

You think people are disenfranchised now? What happens when 17million people (and nations that are watching) realise that they don't really have any say in anything.

I take it this is another fricking place all leave voters are branded as racists then? Seriously lol!

GreenishMe · 01/07/2016 20:23

Yep

That was to Lou.....not user of many numbers! Blush

charlottec81 · 01/07/2016 20:23

It looks that way Lou Wink

Ahh well after being called racist by someone on another forum who in the next breath stated all English are lazy and won't get jobs, I'm not really arsed if that gets thrown at me any more. This referendum has turned this country nasty. Anyone with a differing view is ridiculed and name called. It's disgusting.

macy188 · 01/07/2016 20:26

Well I think that's exactly the point. Just keep going until they get the answer they want lol.. be it 2 or 200 referendums lol

Louw1988 · 01/07/2016 20:28

Seems that way Charlotte, sad! I've spent a week on a busy tube most days with carriages packed with every different colour and culture and yet there was no arguments, wars etc.. Seems only online to me!

macy188 · 01/07/2016 20:32

As usual it's the British that are moaning about racism, not even those of other races.. I just don't get it! Confused

Thefuturecouldbebright · 01/07/2016 20:34

Oh Macy.... There is a whole psychology Thesis right there! I have my theorys on that, but I had best keep them to myself! I dont think anyone wants to go down that road! Lol 😐😐😬😂

BMW6 · 01/07/2016 20:35

Its more the idea that you should be reheld until you do it in a dignified, democratic and sensible way.

Lol.

Liar.

NameChanger22 · 01/07/2016 20:38

There's too much at stake, there needs to be a second referendum. We are the laughing stock of the world because of the stupidity of it all. Everyone deserves a second chance, I've heard a lot of leave voters want one.

Louw1988 · 01/07/2016 20:39

We're the laughing stock because of the stupid idea of another referendum and very sore losers!

NameChanger22 · 01/07/2016 20:42

I don't think so.

Louw1988 · 01/07/2016 20:51

Sorry I can't understand that language and we all
Know subtitles aren't always correct now don't we

lordStrange · 01/07/2016 20:54

I voted Remain. There are plenty of experts ready to tell us WHY remain is a sensible choice for nearly absolutely everyone.

This guy for example: Professor Michael Dougan EU law expert

But I can't see anyone literally ANYWHERE including on here why Leaving is a good thing? Have ALL the leavers been duped or am I missing something, the brilliant clause that makes sense of the referendum outcome?

NameChanger22 · 01/07/2016 20:54

I know a few quite a few people of different nationalities who have been laughing about the same stuff as this guy. My Facebook is full of jokes and comments about how stupid the British are.

NameChanger22 · 01/07/2016 20:56

Clearly we need to sort our education system before we even consider leaving.

magratvonlipwig · 01/07/2016 20:56

I don't think however anyone voted we could foresee the utter chaos that is our political system . Whatever you voted for, there was an assumption that our elected representatives would do their job. Ie steer this country forward as best they can. Instead theyre all either quitting or stabbing someone else in the back.
Anything that goes wrong now is the politicians fault, not the voters who simply did what they thought right at the time.
A second referendum would be a strange animal indeed given how our mps have reacted this week. Would you listen to any of them ?

Louw1988 · 01/07/2016 20:57

Imo Facebook is just full of idiots most of the time looking for an online war.
The good reasons for leaving / one for example
Many of our ancestors fought for freedom and independence and would be turning in thier graves if they knew we were being controlled by the EU
That's one!

Hahahaha, one bloke in a video = The World! Grin

Who cares what the world thinks, do you think Russia or North Korea are bothered by what others think of them? Of course not and they really are a laughing stock of the world.

Alfieisnoisy · 01/07/2016 21:00

I voted Remain however I don't want a second Referendum. As far as I am concerned it's all been a colossal waste if money so far and a second referendum will change nothing.

All I want to see now is some kind of plan forwards obviously that's going to take time while the Conservatives elect a new leader and Labour finish having their punch up.

A second referendum is the last thing we need.

We had the vote and now we need to get on with it and move forwards with whatever plan is made.

Louw1988 · 01/07/2016 21:02

Exactly what Alfieisnoisy says! It's time to look forward and be positive and one positive thing Is hopefully the end of labour!
