Boris outmaneovered. Et tu Gove & Corbyn? The Westministenders Hunger Games Continues

Following the Machiavellian Govian shambles? Utterly gobsmacked at the Labour clusterfuck?

Who will strike next?

Who will the shadowy hand of Osborne back?
Can Gove be launched back into space and back to the planet he came from?
Can May save the country from almost certain doom?
Will Leadsom patronise us all to death (whilst silently stabbing people in the back with a sweet smile)?
Can Johnson make a decision he can stick to, and can we persuade him to give up being a politician?
Will Steven Crabb get rid of that god awful beard?

Will Corbyn shoot himself in the other foot?
Will Angela Eagle get a spine and just stand?
Who the fuck is Owen Smith?
Will the Blairites be foiled and damned?
Are momentum a bunch of thugs or a force for a better, for the people?

Will Farage disappear back under his rock?
Will people wake up to Arron Banks?
What will Dominic Cummings destroy next?

Have we seen a coup d'état?
How do we improve democracy and representation?

All these questions and more.
Sense of humour compulsory. No experience necessary though

Not sure whether I think the Austria thing is good or not.

There seems to be Plan emerging for the PLP

Sophy Ridge Sky News‏
John McDonnell saying likely to be leadership contest in days... but some Labour MPs telling me the ball is in Corbyn's court
Labour MP: "There is no contest. People were spooked by McDonnell saying there was going to be one. An election would be bad for the Party".
In other words, Labour MPs hoping Corbyn will be forced to resign as can't function without shadow cabinet & they think members softening

Its like the Labour Party are trying to recreate Brexit with the PLP not wanting to press the button to active a50 the exit plan on Corbyn.

I don't think I'll be taking any make up tips from Lady MacGove despite the freebies she used to get for her column.

Unfortunately my bloody ancestors are all Welsh which is no use at all nowSad. And DH is ill so we aren't allowed to live in NZ. Bugger.

GingerIvy · 01/07/2016 18:24

So they're just going to mill about aimlessly until Corbyn decides to step down? They'll be waiting awhile. And to be fair, I'm reaching a point that the longer he hangs on, the happier I am. Why? Because I want to see when the MPs are going to regain consciousness and actually start doing their job. Either find someone to challenge him or get your arses back in and support him if you can't find someone to beat him in a challenge.

It does seem a spectacular game of chicken. And the MPs are losing....

noblegiraffe · 01/07/2016 18:29

While all this fannying around with Corbyn goes on there is no effective opposition. FFS, it should be an open goal for Labour and they're busy up the other end scoring own ones.

Hamish Sorry about your husband and your plans falling through Flowers

Marina Hyde on Dominic Cummings:
" Cummings has operated at the heart of Gove’s empire without an official job before. He doesn’t require a Downing Street pass to gain access: he could just slide through a haunted mirror."

Carswell has always been Ukip-lite, I think his defection was more attention seeking than anything else, and I think he was slightly put out to learn that the Conservatives weren't falling over themselves to take him back. Farage has always been a bit off about him, because he managed to be Ukip's first MP, while Farage lost again. What was it, Nigel, the fourth time? I can't remember now.
Plus, of course, Carswell was very enthusiastic about Farage's retirement last year, and entirely lukewarm about his return to politics a week later.

Francois Hollande has told the US that they need to pay close attention to what happened with Brexit, because if Brexit won, then so could Trump

Oooh, sorry Red didn't see you'd already quoted about Cummings!

Thank God I've found you.Riveted to this.

YaraThePirateQueen · 01/07/2016 19:06

Thanks for the new thread, I'm just place marking to read after the kids are in bed

Peregrina · 01/07/2016 19:10

DH's Irish Granny turned out not to be born in Ireland after all.

Same with my DH's Irish granny, and furthermore, born well before the establishment of the Republic.

HemanOrSheRa · 01/07/2016 19:15

Can I ask a daft question? Because I know I'll get a sensible answer here! What is the advantage of an Irish passport? DP is entitled to one. So I guess DS is too?

GingerIvy · 01/07/2016 19:17

My dcs are entitled to irish passport (as is my ex), but I'm not. So no point.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/07/2016 19:18

EU citizenship in the event that the UK withdraws from freedom of movement

Peregrina · 01/07/2016 19:19

Advantage to an Irish passport - at the moment, none. If we exit - then you are still an EU citizen with freedom of movement, when UK citizens won't be. (German, French, etc. would do also.)

HemanOrSheRa · 01/07/2016 19:21

Thanks Statistically. I feel silly now Blush. I think I will talk to DP about this. DS is 11 so it could be advantageous for him to have an Irish passport I guess.

RedToothBrush · 01/07/2016 19:21

Freedom of movement Hernan.

If the UK gets rid of it, you can still go live and work in the EU without a visa. None of this Australia Points Based Stuff.

Paul McKenna is Arron Bank's mate and Arron Bank's consulted him during the campaign.

But they didn't hypnotise anyone

(No the power of suggestion is probably enough. I note that subliminal messages are supposedly banned from advertising and political campaigning. But then so too is inciting racial hatred).

I'm underwhelmed by those posters. If they'd used them perhaps the result would have been 52.1% Leave, 47.9% Remain.

HemanOrSheRa · 01/07/2016 19:38

Thank you Peregrina and Red.

I find that article about Paul McKenna/Arron Banks quite terrifying. Still, I suppose we should be grateful they didn't produce any campaign ads showing Arron sat in a robe, knocking back a scotch on the rocks, with SEX etched onto the ice cubes Confused.

ReluctantCamper · 01/07/2016 20:14

Have been following these very interesting threads. I hope you're proud of yourselves - I just joined the Labour Party after 30 years of cheerful political apathy. Looking forward to getting my ballot paper. #anyOneButFuckingCorbyn
