To not be able to speak to my near neighbours who voted leave?

TooMuchCoffeeMakesMeZoom · 24/06/2016 23:43

My children's future has been put at stake. Our economy risks ruin. Our relatively -well-off neighbours in a place with nearly full employment and very low recent immigration (local care companies and NHS are desperate for staff) have voted leave. They are only around fifty.

I'm gobsmacked.

The irony is that the small business they are in is affected by the growth of China as an economic powerhouse. So why on earth do they feel that leaving the EU gives them more power? It gives them less.

I am so angry and feel so let down by my country. These people, and people like them ahem destroyed my hopes for a continued peace in Europe.

How on earth am I expected to talk to them on an equal footing, knowing what they have done through their own greed?

How about you grow up Emily.

No one is defending any violence right wing left wing or any where in the middle.

It is wrong whoever does it.

MangoMoon · 27/06/2016 11:40

I have a mental image of you wandering the blasted heath, wrapped in a shawl, clutching a babe to your breast, wind and rain beating against your hessian shawl and shouting, ' we're all doomed, Mr Mainwaring.'

Grin
hmmmum · 27/06/2016 11:40

Yabu. I voted and wanted remain but many people who voted leave felt they were doing the best for their country and for their children's future. Things look bleak now but no one knows for sure what the future holds.

louisagradgrind · 27/06/2016 11:44

Emily: someone whose feet you sit gazing admiringly upwards at them, has fed you all this shite haven't they?

Some guru who has stopped you thinking because when challenged, you can't provide a reasoned argument. You are showing your arse and are blissfully unaware.

I hope that doesn't get deleted, Mumsnet. He and his party really are dangerous. In order to fight their hate, we must be honest about who and what they are.

Hi there,
Thanks for reporting, those of you who did. We cannot allow posters to call people Nazis, and have deleted the offending posts (as well as some of the responses).

OrangesandLemonsNow · 27/06/2016 11:55

Hope you like law suits Emily.

I absolutely dislike Farage and UKIP.

You however with your comments could land you in deep trouble.

louisagradgrind · 27/06/2016 11:59

But if he is a White Supremist, do you think he is unaware that Europe is white? Do you think you should tell him?

By the way, seem to have missed your response, considered or otherwise, about your opinion of Juncker: do you think he is a liberal mind?

Please do answer.

EvansOvalPies · 27/06/2016 11:59

Emily - sorry, but the sort of drivel you are posting is simply inciting hatred and a split society, more than Farage could ever do (and I am not a fan of Farage, believe you me). This is a democratic country, it was a democratic vote. The EU was being controlled by faceless European bureaucrats, decisions being made by them, most of which Britain was not able to argue with. I am of an age where I remember joining the EU back in the 70s, and being sceptical then (and I was very young, idealistic, political and went on demonstrations against neo-Nazi movements and campaigning for equal rights right across the board). So you youngsters now (really, really not trying to be patronising), are trying to teach your Grandma how to suck eggs, put in an annoying cliché! You are accusing the older generation of being selfish by not thinking of the youth of the country. So how would you describe yourselves, as the youth, not caring about the older people of the country? The older people have been badly let down, as have farmers and the fishing industry. Promises coming from the EU that things will get better - yet they haven't. Our NHS is under threat, our pensions are appalling. My young people voted to leave - they are not racist, and were worried about voting so, at the fear of being accused racist. The immigration thing is a bit of a red herring, and being disingenuously blamed by some of the 'Remain' voters, who could now arguably be accused of bullying. Confused

Just let things calm down - it will all be fine, I'm sure.

emilybohemia · 27/06/2016 12:02

Can I call UKIP white supremacists, Mumsnet? Neo Nazis? Racists? They are widely described by those terms? Or does that stop now they are wheedling their way into mainstream politics with their toxic campaign?

If anyone needs to be worried about lawsuits, it's Farage. His poster has been reported to police for deliberately inciting racial hatred.

louisagradgrind · 27/06/2016 12:02

There you are, Emily. Even Mumsnet knows there is no evidence to back up your hysterical claim. In fact, those of who merely repeated your claim in order to refute it, have also been deleted.

Mumsnet knows that law suits are costly things.

EvansOvalPies · 27/06/2016 12:02

Oh dear, Emily!

louisagradgrind · 27/06/2016 12:03

Anyway, Emily, your thoughts on Juncker please: if you have any.

emilybohemia · 27/06/2016 12:05

You think I am more dangerous than Farage, Evans? Blimey.

Just5minswithDacre · 27/06/2016 12:05

Farage has always been a dubious xenophobe and Emily always posts in histrionic fashion.

Plus ca change.

emilybohemia · 27/06/2016 12:06

and you vicious twats always follow me around mumsnet

PortiaCastis · 27/06/2016 12:07

Emily what is the reaction in your Country?

Just5minswithDacre · 27/06/2016 12:08

I don't follow you anywhere emily. I can't remember the last time I exchanged words with you.

Rather the opposite; If I see your name I tend to click away without posting.

EvansOvalPies · 27/06/2016 12:09

and you vicious twats always follow me around mumsnet

Confused

I have never heard of you nor seen your name before, Emily. You just posted something with which I do not agree. Again, democracy. I disagree with you, therefore by calling people 'vicious twats' simply because they don't agree with your viewpoint makes you a bully, and quite hateful. Sorry, but there it is.

louisagradgrind · 27/06/2016 12:11

Quite!

It does seem to be robotic though, almost as if 'Emily' cannot post any other opinion than what she has been detailed to do: hence long posts about Pooh and ignoring simple questions which need only elicit a 'yes' or 'no.'

I suppose my question about Juncker's liberal mind will have to wait until she has discussed it with her guru, although she has had time now to have done that.

It is a lot of fun to read hysterical posts though. Long may they continue!

emilybohemia · 27/06/2016 12:13

Just 5

'Farage has always been a dubious xenophobe and Emily always posts in histrionic fashion.'

Portia, badgering me about my country of residence. Again.

I meant them.

emilybohemia · 27/06/2016 12:15

You sound really familiar Evans.
