The weather is on the side of the people

Chucking it down in the East of England. Storms last night. Senior Remain campaigners phoning in minute by minute weather updates to Brussels. To say there is despair among the elite is to do the English language injustice.

Brexiters were out in force, soaked to the skin, some were being carried to the polling booths. As we said "good morning" to each other, there were mentions of "Independence Day" with laughs and winks.

Some Brexiters looked to the Heavens as they chucked down rain upon us and smiled. The Heavens were on our side.

Definitely pints and pounds, none of these European metric measures will be forced on our Nige's seduction techniques!

Whisky2014 · 23/06/2016 15:33

No it's not!

MangoMoon · 23/06/2016 15:34

No, we Remainers don't have a sense of humour; Only the Brexiteers like a joke. Obviously.

MangoMoon · 23/06/2016 15:38

Ach, it's all done now - what will be will be.
Tomorrow is just another day.

Brokenbiscuit · 23/06/2016 15:44

Sunshine here. The God of the East Midlands is clearly backing Remain.

TheUnsullied · 23/06/2016 15:56

Glorious sunshine all day here so far. Just unfortunate I live in a Leave hotbed I suppose.

Wombat87 · 23/06/2016 16:17

Some of us battled the storms to vote! I was even late to work as transports up the creek and if it was badly delayed later I didn't want to not be able to vote. Vote to remain that is!!

claig · 23/06/2016 16:18

"How rain could prove the Brexit polls wrong w rain could prove the Brexit polls wrong

U.K. voters backing ‘leave’ seen as more likely to brave the rain

It’s raining cats and dogs in parts of the U.K., and that could be good news for Brexit backers.
...
But there’s potentially a silver lining in those storm clouds for one side of the Brexit battle.

“The rainy forecast for Thursday theoretically favors ‘leave,’” wrote Jasper Lawler, an analyst at CMC Markets, in a note. “Leave voters are thought to be more determined, so more likely to brave bad weather.”

For the “remain” campaign, the outlook isn’t so good. That’s because people in cosmopolitan London — which has been drenched in heavy rain — are generally more europhile and less likely to back a British exit."

Every cloud has a silver lining.

Absolutely tanking it down here now...... Just in time for the tea time/ after work voters. We're in a remain area...... Let's see what they're made of Grin !!

Lweji · 23/06/2016 16:44

if we leave they get their MEP pensions anyway

I'm pretty sure he's going to refuse his. Such an upstanding guy.

RosesareSublime · 23/06/2016 17:03

Imagine a date with Nige. He'd buy you a half pint (a lady should never drink pints), give you a fag and say something like 'phwoar you don't get many of them to the pound' when you took your jacket off.

^^ Grin

and Mango, Grin Love W oxford shire BTW lovely area we are not too far from you Smile but the weather here is abysmal, we are talking roads water logged, its rained all day and yet again we are experiencing a VERY HEAVEY DOWN POUR. Its biblical.....visibility is low, its dangerous out there.

RosesareSublime · 23/06/2016 17:04

This isnt just rain its something else.

flippinada · 23/06/2016 17:13

Maybe the water is a message from God! Europe is going to be submerged by a biblical flood if we vote (insert remain or leave here).

Well, it makes about as much sense as any of the other barmy theories doing the rounds today.

MangoMoon · 23/06/2016 17:14

It's not rain Roses, you are correct!

It is the gods holding the hands of the Brexiteers & offering the heavens in all their fury as allies...

This elitist drove to the polls in her German car and voted ... REMAIN!

It's now pissing down in London. I'm on my way out to do more Remain campaigning. Because I would wade through a sea of claig's tears for the right result.

scaryteacher · 23/06/2016 18:15

We watched the lightening flickering over Brussels last night - it was in the direction of Berlaymont - reminded me of Mt Doom on LOTR! Huge storm here this morning as well.

Belgium on general strike tomorrow, so it will be shut, and they'll all take a bridge (Friday off) for the weekend.

claig · 23/06/2016 18:21

The rain is incredible. Pouring and pouring down. Some areas of the South East had 1 month's rainfall in 6 hours. Crashing thunder, streaking lightning. The Gods in the Heavens are furious.

Brexiters braving the wild weather, winds blowing them to an fro, but they just won't let it go. Their heads are down, the wind bites their face, as they head straight towards the polling booths to cast their vote.

Brussels can't believe the reports of the weather they are receiving from Remain HQ.

Claig

If you are on the side of the people, surely you want as many people as possible to vote?

scaryteacher · 23/06/2016 18:27

Brussels can't believe the reports of the weather they are receiving from Remain HQ I can believe it as we get it after you do.
