Brexit

The weather is on the side of the people

Chucking it down in the East of England. Storms last night. Senior Remain campaigners phoning in minute by minute weather updates to Brussels. To say there is despair among the elite is to do the English language injustice.

Brexiters were out in force, soaked to the skin, some were being carried to the polling booths. As we said "good morning" to each other, there were mentions of "Independence Day" with laughs and winks.

Some Brexiters looked to the Heavens as they chucked down rain upon us and smiled. The Heavens were on our side.

Huge positives. A better politics and a sounder economy. We were right to go in in 75 and we are right to come out now. Phew!

MangoMoon · 24/06/2016 05:37

Chukka & Steve Hilton I liked a lot tonight.

Definitely time to be positive & not descend into petty squabbling & power grabbing.

This could & should be the start of a really positive change for Britain Smile

It is a truly historic day. I am very proud of our great country and our amazing people. Our elite are fantastic, they have accepted the will of the people, they are not stopping us. We have a great legal system and the people are sovereign and our parliament cannot arbitrarily override the people.

We are very fortunate to live in such a great country where the rule of law reigns and where no high and mighty person is above the law or above the people.

This will reenergise our entire country, will give hope for a completely new start and will change our entire politics. The old guard has to ship out and a new guard who reflect the people will have to take over.

Historic. It will go down in history books when we are all long gone.

All true Claig. I am actually very moved and reassured by it.

One of the first thing to do now is reassure the EU nationals already here that we love them and they can all stay.

claig · 24/06/2016 06:29

'One of the first thing to do now is reassure the EU nationals already here that we love them and they can all stay.'

Absolutely. No one should fear what will happen.

Claim took a pen and wouldn't use the pencil.

Shows you the quality of he people. Who voted out.

Nice to see the pound doing so well isn't it. Wonder what blood bath the ftse will bring.

Turkeys voting for Christmas.

claig · 24/06/2016 06:37

Vernon Bogdanor, top constitutional expert, tutor of Cameron when he did his PPE, says that there is a strong case for a general election because the parliament is now unrepreentative of the people. The only party which wanted to leave the UK has just one member of parliament.

Top guy, Vernon. He understands that the people are sovereign. The politicians are there to serve the people.

Sun is out in the East of England. Storms all gone, no more rain. The Gods are at peace. They like the result. They are smiling.

You know what claig, fuck off. You and people like you have sold my children's futures down the pan. You aren't funny any more.

Millyonthefloss2 · 24/06/2016 06:51

Low pound is good for us. It won't last but it's a nice temporary boost to sales. Will be good for most export businesses except those who import most of their goods. Interested to see how well the PM deals with it. We need a positive message from him. England expects and all that.

claig · 24/06/2016 06:53

'Low pound is good for us. '

Yes, good for export businesses. Good to see that all the bigwigs, Sir Gus O'Donnell etc are all constructive and that everyone will work together to take us out smoothly.

smallfox1980 · 24/06/2016 06:56

The low pound is not necessarily good for us. I'd explain the Marhsall Learner condition, and the J curve, and why the ML condition probably would't be met for the UK but then all you brexiters know your economics well right?

MangoMoon · 24/06/2016 06:58

Do you know what, I'm fucking glad the leave vote won actually.

Really fucking glad.

I am a decent, nice person just like most other people in this country but the spite and hatred being thrown about on MN this morning at ordinary decent people using their vote and exercising their right to democracy is fucking appalling.

claig · 24/06/2016 07:02

MangoMoon, it doesn't matter. People are worried. But the great thing is that our governing class have been excellent about this. They have all accepted it with grace and hae said that they will implement the will of the people.

We are lucky to live in a country that is built on such great principles and foundations where the governing class accept the will of the people.

Very proud to be British. Great country, great system. Top people.

smallfox1980 · 24/06/2016 07:08

You know what Mango? When repeatedly across the night the words "protest vote" keep coming up, and the phrase "kicking the establishment" I don't think it is democracy. These people haven't voted on the issues at stake.

Farage has admitted that it was a mistake to say that £350 million a week would be spent on the NHS already.

We are now at the hands of the neo-cons that you so wanted to avoid. Think TTIP is bad? Just wait and see what happens in the UK next.

But, you can have what you voted for.

I'll be here saying I told you so.

Lweji · 24/06/2016 07:09

What will Scotland and Northern Ireland do next??

Millyonthefloss2 · 24/06/2016 07:12

Smallfox. I have been running a successful export business for 12 years. Funnily enough you do not need to understand the ML condition or the J curve to do that. It's just common sense, hard work, optimism and treating people right.

claig · 24/06/2016 07:13

Personally, I don't think Scotland will hold another referendum because I think they will lose as the entire future of the EU is now in doubt due to France's and Italy's coming elections.

Brexit will trigger a domino effect all over Europe. the entire existing European political class may suffer the same fate as Cameron soon.

smallfox1980 · 24/06/2016 07:14

No Milly you do if you are going to talk about the pound getting weaker and being of benefit to the economy.

Millyonthefloss2 · 24/06/2016 07:16

I voted for sovereignty and control as did most people. Do not impugn people's motives.

And we won't have the need for a far right party now which I think we can all agree is a good thing.

MangoMoon · 24/06/2016 07:18

I'll be here saying I told you so.

Ok then.
At least we're all acting like grown ups.

Millyonthefloss2 · 24/06/2016 07:19

The pound will stabilise in time.

Millyonthefloss2 · 24/06/2016 07:23

To change the subject and be a bit sexist has anyone else noticed that the women politicians are handling the sleep deprivation better than the men.

Lweji · 24/06/2016 07:27

It's make up. Or they actually slept for a bit.

This whole thing seems to have played into the Asian markets. The Euro is down too.
I just hope the UK doesn't have to deal with a sudden influx of EU immigrants trying to get in before the exit.
