Brexit

The weather is on the side of the people

Chucking it down in the East of England. Storms last night. Senior Remain campaigners phoning in minute by minute weather updates to Brussels. To say there is despair among the elite is to do the English language injustice.

Brexiters were out in force, soaked to the skin, some were being carried to the polling booths. As we said "good morning" to each other, there were mentions of "Independence Day" with laughs and winks.

Some Brexiters looked to the Heavens as they chucked down rain upon us and smiled. The Heavens were on our side.

Andrew Neil tweet 3 mins ago

Labour politicians beginning to talk as if Leave has won. But early days.

but 25 mins ago , he said

Remain now needs a mighty big vote in mighty London.

So, as fourmummy said, we can't count our chickens yet. What percentage of the vote does London make up?

Dumfries & G could go to leave - unexpectedly

I must say, this is amazingly exciting. Much better than the GE. We should have one every year!

FrankUnderwoodsWife · 24/06/2016 01:37

Morning! Claig, are you staying up to the bitter end?
I have no finger nails left. Come on, I want to see results from some big cities......

RosesareSublime · 24/06/2016 01:38

Claig I think they will get a mighty vote perhaps bigger than anyone thought....

claig · 24/06/2016 01:40

Chris Bryant on Ed Miliband: "I might go and punch him because he's a tosspot and he left the party in the state it's in."

Basildon - 68% exit

RosesareSublime · 24/06/2016 01:42

gold going up?

bet a lot of coke being snorted in the city right now.

what big cities can swing it?

shinytorch2 · 24/06/2016 01:43

Fourmummy - my heart rate on my Fitbit thinks I'm doing a workout. I couldn't cope with doing this every year! Grin

Morning, Frank. I am going to try to stay awake until at least 3.30 am This is very exciting. If we win, it will change our politics and change the EU and the whole world. It really will be monumental. Amazing stuff.

At the beginning of the night, I was a bit disheartened when I heard Farage and Boris say they had lost. I thought a fix might be in, but now it looks like we might really win.

Gold not going up much. It has recovered a little but hasn't done a great deal.

shinytorch2 · 24/06/2016 01:45

low turnout in Scotland - are the Scots playing a game for indyref2??

squoosh · 24/06/2016 01:47

No. It's not as crafty as that. The simple truth is there have been two elections and two referenda in Scotland in the past 18 months. For a lot of people this is too much.

(not me, I love voting)

fourmummy · 24/06/2016 01:48

Not impressed with Farage and Boris. Really bad behaviour from both. I read something earlier about Boris's dual-column that he'd written 'just in case', and as for Farage 'conceding defeat', well...I have no idea why he did that. Not impressed at all.

shinytorch2 · 24/06/2016 01:49

Squoosh - do you think Nicola will be able to resist the temptation?

RosesareSublime · 24/06/2016 01:50

so many MPs I have never heard of came out in this campaign and have been very impressive, on both sides.

I hope we see more of them in the future.

So London could push all this success back?

squoosh · 24/06/2016 01:53

No she won't. And people won't want her to. If the UK votes out of the UK there will be another referendum in the not too distant future.

fourmummy · 24/06/2016 01:55

Rose - yes, London could wipe all the results so far out. London starts around 2am, doesn't it?

RosesareSublime · 24/06/2016 01:56

london will be remain.

is there anything out there to match it?

fourmummy · 24/06/2016 02:02

Lots of talk now about the implications of these kinds of margins vs London keeping us in. "There will be blood". Hmmm.

MangoMoon · 24/06/2016 02:02

It's quite a blow to Labour so far, even though they're not putting their hands up to it.

All their working class voters in the north of England are turning in Leave votes, the champagne socialists in London will be largely remain - they've truly lost their way as a party.

MangoMoon · 24/06/2016 02:04

Wales are Leave so far - yet more traditionally Labour defectors.

fourmummy · 24/06/2016 02:05

FTSE is collapsing

smallfox1980 · 24/06/2016 02:06

You realise that isn't a good thing right?

fourmummy · 24/06/2016 02:08

That's debatable
