Brexit

The weather is on the side of the people

Chucking it down in the East of England. Storms last night. Senior Remain campaigners phoning in minute by minute weather updates to Brussels. To say there is despair among the elite is to do the English language injustice.

Brexiters were out in force, soaked to the skin, some were being carried to the polling booths. As we said "good morning" to each other, there were mentions of "Independence Day" with laughs and winks.

Some Brexiters looked to the Heavens as they chucked down rain upon us and smiled. The Heavens were on our side.

Sorry Squoosh, that wasn't in reply to you - unfortunate cross post.

smallfox1980 · 24/06/2016 00:50

Or mango threads on mumsnet started by the remain camp full of falsehoods and half truths and misinformation, and when countered attacking any source that disagreed with the decision they have already made.

RosesareSublime · 24/06/2016 00:51

does the margin in each area count for anything or just the win?

smallfox1980 · 24/06/2016 00:51

" we will carry on doing the same trade with France and Germany,"

No, we won't that has been made very clear.

We make a net contribution of about £8 billion, we've never been asked to bail out Romania.

claig · 24/06/2016 00:52

We were told it would be a disaster if we left the ERM and it was the opposite. We will do well if we leave. Project Fear will be shown to have been all lies.

I am only having a pop at claigs teenagery assertion that it is the people v the establishment.

I notice so far all 'the people' live in England.

smallfox1980 · 24/06/2016 00:52

Just the number of votes, they are not constituencies.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/06/2016 00:53

In the event of Brexit millions who did not want the UK to leave the EU will have to live with the economic consequences. All because Cameron gambled his career and people bought Farage's empty rhetoric.

MangoMoon · 24/06/2016 00:53

Just the win Rose, but the margins are a good indication of the way it may go.

There were certain expectations for each area & so far they seem to have underestimated the leave vote.

flippinada · 24/06/2016 00:54

I'm really, really not a fan of the establishment myself. I can totally understand why people are angry.

Thing is, I'm incredibly worried we are heading for a terrible mistake. And those who can afford it least will be hit hardest. We're just seeing the start of what might happen.

claig · 24/06/2016 00:54

'No, we won't that has been made very clear. '

That was Project Fear and it may be that the people will have rejected it by 7 am today.

'we've never been asked to bail out Romania.'

Yes, but we don't know where all our contribution ends up.

We all had a vote, we are all allowed our own views - everybody is valid and important, nobody is better than any other person

so many remainers on MN have declared we should not have been given a vote on this, and many people are thick and stupid, cant spell voting leave Confused

I am going to bed on a high and could well wake up to astonishing low.

I have a feeling - one way or another there is some region thats going to give a shock either for remain or leave.

love the commentary though its is footy match

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 24/06/2016 00:55

Tbf ghost that is true of all democratic votes. Millions of people who did not vote Tory live eith the economic consequences every day. Likewise those who didn't vote for Blair.

That's what happens when the people the electorate decide

fourmummy · 24/06/2016 00:57

Swindon - was expected to leave by a margin of 15% and has left by a margin of 10%.

RosesareSublime · 24/06/2016 00:57

Thanks Mango.

wow broxbroune looks interesting?

MangoMoon · 24/06/2016 00:57

I sort of agree Ada, I think that if we leave we'll have a rocky time of it initially but long term I truly believe it will be better.

The EU just got too big, and it is becoming a millstone.

I do still think it may be a narrow remain victory overall, but I really want the leap of faith to happen.

smallfox1980 · 24/06/2016 00:58

No it was actually the French and German governments not "project fear"

I also think that term is quite insulting when much of the leave campaign, and many on here, have been stoking fear of immigration, of the "pressure" on our services, of a EU Army, of Turkey joining and flooding our streets with rapists.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/06/2016 00:59

Brexit will have more dire consequences than any general election in my lifetime.

RosesareSublime · 24/06/2016 00:59

ghost hands up I voted for Blair Blush I have had to live with the consequences.

I bet Junker is shitting himself on his.....3rd bottle of hard liquor...

Even if remain wins, I am glad they have this early shake up.

RosesareSublime · 24/06/2016 01:00

maybe for you ghost it couldnt have got any worse for me Smile

squoosh · 24/06/2016 01:00

Sorry Squoosh, that wasn't in reply to you - unfortunate cross post.

Ha! I know. You're my fave MN Brexiter.

smallfox1980 · 24/06/2016 01:01

Oh and Nick Robinson has just talked about the "kicking the establishment" factor in Sunderland.

So well done Claig and people like you, your empty rhetoric has worked. Vote against the establishment on the advice of um the Establishment.

MangoMoon · 24/06/2016 01:01

Claig!

Your weather gods conspiracy seems to have borne fruit!

They're talking about the weather effect on London reducing turnout Grin

MangoMoon · 24/06/2016 01:02

You're my fave remainer Squoosh Wink

You do the funniest pics!

claig · 24/06/2016 01:04

'So well done Claig and people like you'

smallfox, this is democracy. It is a great thing. Change only happens when millions and millions of people think the same. The Establishment is out of touch and have not represented the people that make up the country. If we have democracy, then it is only right that they listen to the people rather than to themselves.
