Brexit

The weather is on the side of the people

Chucking it down in the East of England. Storms last night. Senior Remain campaigners phoning in minute by minute weather updates to Brussels. To say there is despair among the elite is to do the English language injustice.

Brexiters were out in force, soaked to the skin, some were being carried to the polling booths. As we said "good morning" to each other, there were mentions of "Independence Day" with laughs and winks.

Some Brexiters looked to the Heavens as they chucked down rain upon us and smiled. The Heavens were on our side.

Sunderland voting for Brexit, which it probably will, is like Turkeys voting for Christmas. Nissan have already said their preference is to remain and when Nissan cuts jobs Sunderland really feels it.

shinytorch2 · 23/06/2016 22:01

From the Independent:

In other words, a 53-47 win for Brexit in Sunderland at 12.30am would be in line with a 50:50 overall vote.

Here's the full article - they have a rather snazzy map with a prediction for each district

No I did use a pencil. Wasn't expecting to need a pen.

To be honest though if they were gonna rif the vote surely it wold just be easier to say " the vote was this" rather than manually alter all the slips.I mean how would we know otherwise?

shinytorch2 · 23/06/2016 22:03

Watch the markets - the bankers have put their champagne down and returned from the lap dancing clubs as they spent a lot of money on private exit polls so they could get ahead of the game. That should give you a clue as to which way it's gone...mind you I refused to tell the girl at my station how I'd voted - ha ha!

MangoMoon · 23/06/2016 22:06

shinytorch, I LOVE the word 'snazzy'!
It's woefully underused Grin

shinytorch2 · 23/06/2016 22:07

It is good isn't it! Quite old fashioned - possibly a "little england" word {wink}

claig · 23/06/2016 22:08

Farage says "Remain might just edge it" Sad

squoosh · 23/06/2016 22:12

'Just been asked on tube by @BorisJohnson if I voted leave. I say no. He concedes He's lost anyway. Awkward #EUref'

MangoMoon · 23/06/2016 22:14

Apparently BoJo was in St Andrews today at his daughter's graduation (my mum told me, she lives nearby), I hope he got a proxy Shock

claig · 23/06/2016 22:15

'why will margin be imp claig?'

A big margin for Leave would mean it is likely to be the same elsewhere which would mean Leave win.

Yougov have said 52-48 for Remain so far.

Establishment stooges looking smug on TV. It looks like they think they won.

ummm I hope it wasn't his sister doing it mango.

RosesareSublime · 23/06/2016 22:16

Doesnt it seem odd, Farage would come out with such a depressing comment so soon?

at 22,16 soon???

MangoMoon · 23/06/2016 22:17

ShockBlush
Surely not Rose!

RosesareSublime · 23/06/2016 22:18

Thank you Dimbley for saying that, EU never bloody changes.

claig · 23/06/2016 22:18

'Doesnt it seem odd, Farage would come out with such a depressing comment so soon? '

Someone would probably have told him

RosesareSublime · 23/06/2016 22:18

Thanks claig and the others.

Watching for Sunderland then.

RosesareSublime · 23/06/2016 22:19

Claig who? and why would he say it?

People watching at hot spots maybe? a certain area with lots of support that didnt turn out?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 23/06/2016 22:20

Farage's leave team commissioned their own poll (of 10k) - think thats what they said on Sky.

MissMarpleCat · 23/06/2016 22:20

Phew, just made the 10pm deadline for my vote on my way to work.
I'm keeping everything crossed for remain Smile

claig · 23/06/2016 22:22

'Claig who? and why would he say it? '

I don't know. I can't see how he could know so early because he hasn't got an accurate exit polling outfit, so someone in the know may have told him

OP posts:
shinytorch2 · 23/06/2016 22:26

Markets saying remain have won.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 23/06/2016 22:30

Going to be close then. But everyone saying that remain has won.

Watching David Dimbleby now - but I will go to bed fairly soon and have the result wake me at about 7 Shock

That twitter pic of Boris on the tube says it all really. I don't want to feel relieved too soon though.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 23/06/2016 22:32

Sunderland voting for Brexit, which it probably will, is like Turkeys voting for Christmas

Agreed. And very sad. Divide and conquer working wonders.
