Report neighbour committing benefit fraud

Hi, I believe a neighbour is committing benefit fraud. She has a teenaged son that has been taken out from school due to 'ADHD' because he can't sit still in class.(Does however sit all day on his console). She is claiming DLA for him and also carers allowance. She does not need to give him any extra attention at all, He can dress, feed and wash himself like as well as any other teenaged boy. She also works 3 days a week so isn't at home all day anyway, So how can she be claiming to be a carer when she does nowt extra? Haven't decided whether to report or not, interested in other people's views on this. Thanks

OP posts:

I’d advise people - like me - with disabled children or who are themselves disabled- to try not to bite. Don’t divulge personal details to this OP.

It’s evident the OP wants to report this woman BUT NOT HER HUSBAND, so let’s wish her luck.

After all, this fraudster took her child out of school (so who looks after him while she’s working her 3 days a week?) when she didn’t have to.
It’s another day with another round of bullshit benefits bashing.
I wonder if the OP knew before posting this that the child would have to have DLA or PIP BEFORE the parent could claim Carer’s Allowance and that this fraudster could have done that EVEN with him being in school- she didn’t have to take him out of school 🤣🤣🤣. She’s a very silly little fraudster, isn’t she?

There are some people who start threads and comment on threads like this, waving their anti-disability beliefs proudly who might need a bit of special education themselves given how transparent their bollocks of “I know someone who” is..

butterfliessaid · 10/11/2025 19:42

what are you jealous of op? Do you have a child with ADHD because I’m guessing not and you’re probably quite pleased with your life and job and wouldn’t swap it for the struggle of parenting a nd child.
Oh and keep your nose out of other peoples business sour grapes are not nice.

reversingdumptruckwithnotyreson · 10/11/2025 19:43

I mean you can certainly try, but if that’s enough to upset you that much you’ll be reporting left, right and centre nowadays.

Schoolchoicesucks · 10/11/2025 19:47

I wouldn't report. But I wouldn't keep listening to her while seething with resentment either. I'd tell her to be careful who she brags about things like that to because it can annoy those who work hard to make ends meet if they get the wrong impression that she's ripping off taxpayers.

If her child isn't able to cope in mainstream school and isn't getting any alternative provision then their family life and prospects aren't going to be great so I wouldn't be looking on them with any level of envy.

Goldwren1923 · 10/11/2025 19:49

Yea report them
people like that ruin it for everyone else

K0OLA1D · 10/11/2025 19:52

Find a good book to stick your nose in instead.

Or report? If you know all this information for sure then I have no idea what starting another bashing thread on here is going to achieve

In response to your 'think you'll get more' comment, I do not claim.any benefits whatsoever. I work for every penny I get.

And I do have first hand knowledge, As I've said previously she has boasted about it many times

Report if you choose, no reason not, will she suspect you tho?

The DLA form is 52 pages long and requires 4 essay type responses and hundreds of paragraph responses. You need medical evidence and documentation from medical professionals. The whole system is designed for you to fail. DLA is for every aspect of a child’s life, not simply looking after someone with needs as you have described. If you are so concerned why don’t you speak with her, rather than pass a judgement on the tiny fraction you see from your window.

ComfortFoodCafe · 10/11/2025 20:03

My son gets DLA for type one diabetes, many thick people think thats just diet & excerise. they have no idea its round the clock care 24/7 and would probably think to report me for claiming DLA for him.
So Likewise with this situation your not a fly on their wall you have no idea what goes on. So keep your beak out.

TheHappenings · 10/11/2025 20:11

Do you live alone op? Any friends or family? I am asking this because you say you work 6 days a week, yet have time to obsess yourself with your neighbour's personal finances, and life in general. It really does not add up, please excuse the pun. I suspect a lot of exaggeration/some fabrication, and hope you're okay.

Goldengoose1977 · 10/11/2025 17:56

If you had read my opening post you will see I had no definite intention of reporting, I am undecided. And yes I think what he's doing is wrong, But he hasn't falsified his sons condition in order to get handouts

How do you know who put in the claim?? Just because she's told you they're getting money for it doesn't mean that it's her claim.

It's pathetic to even think about this . Get on with your own life

SaySomethingMan · 10/11/2025 20:17

Tell me you know nothing about these some neurodiversity. The ability to hyper focus on something the person likes doing is a very common occurrence in ND.
You don’t know what she does for him when she’s at home. Just googled and she only needs to spend 35hours a week caring for him, which with working 3days a week will most likely be doing.

The fact that he’s out of education should make you feel empathy for the kid, not report the poor mum!

pictoosh · 10/11/2025 20:18

Turn away and worry about your own affairs.

Clipclophair · 10/11/2025 20:20

Have they got a big tele as well? Does she get her nails and hair done on the regular with the DLA money?

NanFlanders · 10/11/2025 20:20

They don't just take the parent's word for a condition ,you know. When my daughter was seriously ill with anorexia we had to provide letters from numerous health care professionals, copies of hospital appointments etc. to get PiP. Happily she is now much better and (rightly) her PIP has now been stopped, despite her autism diagnosis - although she does qualify for assistive software as a disabled student. To get an NHS ADHD diagnosis is a very high bar and will have to be based on feedback from schools, assessment by specialist doctors etc. You cant just rock up an the assessment centre with a sob story. (FWIW, my DS has been formally diagnosed with ADHD privately as we feared him ageing out of the system. He doesn't get any benefits and we pay £400 a month for meds and reviews. We have definitely NOT found ADHD to be a nice little earner).

Biggest tele on the street I bet & don’t forget the botox. Grin

Hellohelga · 10/11/2025 20:21

There are so many people like your neighbour, and it’s wrong, as well as against the law. We are going to be paying for this from the tax increases coming down the line soon. If I knew someone was definitely faking a benefits claim I’d report it.

Myfamilyisquirky · 10/11/2025 20:23

His ADHD is so bad he can't go to school and is on his console. He probably has severe anxiety/ mental health how dare you judge your neighbour and you are allowed to work PT on carers allowance and have to produce evidence for DLA I'm sick of ableist benefit policing people you have no idea !

Hellohelga · 10/11/2025 20:24

TeaBiscuitsNaptime · 10/11/2025 18:55

No don't. Her benefits could be means tested. It probably looks like that from the outside but very few single moms are rich really. I highly doubt it she has as much disposable money as you imagine. The school and child welfare services will get involved if there's a problem schoolwise. Its good she's working anyway. She's probably doing what she can

Edited

She’s married not a single mum

Pixi365 · 10/11/2025 20:29

You sound jealous of someone getting money from dla. Live with a child with extra needs, there is nothing to be jealous about. And have you ever thought she might be sugar coating things to you and the neighbours because the truth is soul destroying to admit out loud about how much care she actually has to do and how she is ‘flaunting’ only working three days a week because the truth is that’s all she can do because her nearly adult child limits her life to that instead of being like other working mums who can just get child care or someone to watch them for her.
you want to report her go ahead maybe she is playing the system, but if she isn’t you have just put stress onto a person that is probably already at the limit of stress, juggling a job and trying to care for a difficult child all because your jealous of someone having two holidays a year.
