DS overheard me telling DH I had ordered two hampers for his teacher and class TA as a thank you gift.

DS was very pleased and told his teacher two hamsters are being delivered tomorrow.

I mean …

Sincere thanks to all amazing EYFS teachers and TAs. Honestly can’t believe how much ds has learned this year.

You now need to go out and find 2 cuddly toy hamsters to put in the hampers!

Flatandhappy · 20/07/2026 17:53

That’s brilliant!

Pernicketywishes · 20/07/2026 17:57

Bless him. That’s really tickled me!
As PP said, get one for each hamper. These are reasonable.

That's cute 😆

My DD came home one day (reception age) and proudly announced (her emphasis): 'they showed us an ADULT film, and and I had COFFEE to drink! And POPCORN'

Obviously I was sceptical (except the popcorn) but after hours of insistence I decided to ask her teacher what she actually had...

Through her laughter it emerged that the film was The Nativity and the drink was hot chocolate... the popcorn was real 😆

This is one of the few things I miss about teaching. Delightful!

Optimisticdramalarma · 20/07/2026 21:02

I once picked one of mine up from nursery and asked her what she'd had for lunch
'Nettles and leaves'

She'd had salad and quiche

The best one was when we'd gone to visit their nan
She lived near the local prison and I'd commented that you could hear the inmates playing football
Didn't give it much thought until a few days later when the teacher came out and asked who 'nanna x was'
'Oh that's his nan on his dad's side'
'Is she in prison?'
'No'
'Who's y?'
'Nans boyfriend'
'Is he in prison?'
'No,not that i know of'

Turns out cloth ears had heard us talking about the prison and told his teachers that's where his grandparents lived

Thankfully they thought it was hilarious!

Made us sound like we had the sort of families that where in and out of prison

My nephew when he was 4 was delighted he won a ‘melon’ at sports day.

Mimosaandonwards · 20/07/2026 21:11

We had a morris dancer teacher in Year 1 at the school where I worked as a TA. The Head was bemused to receive several emails from worried parents one evening, complaining their children had been taught pole dancing. They meant maypole dancing obviously!! 😂

DandelionClockSeeds · 20/07/2026 21:16

DS2 had a teacher originally from South Africa. He was adamant his teacher hailed from Cake Town.

Joey1024 · 20/07/2026 21:33

My sister told her teacher my dad had bought mum a shot gun… really he had got a Mitsubishi Shogun car!

Purplecorydoras · 20/07/2026 21:34

My DD4 came home telling me about her new friend eyelash and how good he was at tying his shoe laces, I queried it after the first few days and his name is iash...
Same daughter on discovering her middle name is Alana told me that I was wrong because "I'm not a llama"...

Frazzledinmyforties · 20/07/2026 21:41

Love this @isthisaplum and I bet the teacher found it hilarious.
I remember teaching (9/10 year olds) about menstruation and then getting a parent complaint because I’d told children about masturbation. The child could barely contain his laugh as he explained he must have misheard 😂😂😂

My dc has a nursery classmate called Louie but they all call him Bluey. My Dc laughed at me and said "Louie's not even a name! Bluey is". I think the poor kid will have to just answer to Bluey until he leaves nursery. I wonder if this story is outing or if this is happening to Louies everywhere.
