DS overheard me telling DH I had ordered two hampers for his teacher and class TA as a thank you gift.

DS was very pleased and told his teacher two hamsters are being delivered tomorrow.

I mean …

Sincere thanks to all amazing EYFS teachers and TAs. Honestly can’t believe how much ds has learned this year.

My son has a lunchtime supervisor at school he calls Mrs Towel, it turns out she's actually called Mrs Tao but will forever be known as Mrs Towel in our house!

Many, many years ago when I was at primary school we had, what used to be called, a dinner lady who we all called Mrs Gourd because we couldn't get our tongues around saying Mrs Gould. Poor woman would occasionally get quite snippy about it 😬

One DD started a new school in Year 1 and declared her new best friend was called Beetroot. She was DEFINITELY called Beetroot. She absolutely was NOT called Beatrice.
(…obviously she was called Beatrice).

The same DD, when demonstrating her cursive writing skills, was very elaborate with the curliness. This resulted in a whole project on the Egyptians with repeated mentions of the ‘arse of Tutankhamen’. Cue much sniggering from me and the TA on open day, when she showed me her masterpiece on the curse of Tutankhamen’.

I remember a new boy starting at my primary, and I told my mother his name was Noses. She suggested perhaps it was Moses, but I was insistent. 😀

My dd1 came home from school virtually rolling on the floor with laughter. Couldn't contain herself at how funny the new boy's name was. It was.....Adam!
I wouldn't mind but her best mate was called Jericho

we were walking to the shops yesterday and DS1 was complaining that DS2 (8yo) was being slow, in response DS2 (8yo) said loudly "don't you know the fable about the tortoise and the whore??"

😳😳

Years ago I had to have chemo and lost my hair so I was wearing a snazzy red bandanna type scarf and jeans tucked in to my long black boots. My son came running out of primary school with his little mate who took one look at me and turned towards my son and said Tom is your mum a pirate now? 😂I suppose he had a point 😂

Years ago,ds was in year 6 at primary

I'd gone to pick him and his siblings up and he casually mentioned that 'Harry Potter has died'

'What Harry Potter the wizard?don't be silly'

He was adamant that 'Harry Potter the wizard' had died and nothing would change his mind (his siblings, who went to the same school where just as confused)

Newsletter from the school the following day 'we regret to inform staff, parents and children that the school caretaker,Mr Harry Potter was walking across the second playground, had a heart attack and sadly died as he fell, our thoughts are with his family'

Sorry ds for calling you a liar (and Mr Potter, you where missed even though youd never created magic)

Yes. My niece insisted that her new best friend at holiday camp was a small blonde ringletted girl rejoicing in the name ‘Machine’.
She dismissed my suggestion that it might be ‘Roisin’ scornfully.

And people worry about their children being bullied if they have an unusual name. Beetroot? Machine? No problem, the other kids couldn't care less.

My son insisted that when he started school nursery his friends were called Veggie and Vitamins.. nope Reggie and Vincent.
He also described his dad as being a cold man. We clarified with school that this was because my husband has cold hands and not an emotional deficiency.

My mum was the only kid in her class who didn't have a pet when the teacher asked who had an animal at home "but it's ok Miss we have got some mice in the wall". My grandma did get a cat not long after.

My sister told her teacher my dad had bought mum a shot gun… really he had got a Mitsubishi Shogun car!

In the village I lived in that wouldn't have been unusual 😅

This one should go in Classics. Gave me a much needed laugh.
