DS overheard me telling DH I had ordered two hampers for his teacher and class TA as a thank you gift.

DS was very pleased and told his teacher two hamsters are being delivered tomorrow.

I mean …

Sincere thanks to all amazing EYFS teachers and TAs. Honestly can’t believe how much ds has learned this year.

Back in Year 5 I wanted to get DS's teacher a nice bottle of something at Christmas. Asked DS if he knew what his teacher's tipple was and he was insistent that teacher did not drink ANY ALCOHOL AT ALL. NEVER. I said 'oh, is he teetotal then?' DS confirmed that was the case. I let other parents in the class know as I was pretty sure this teacher had received some rather nice tipples in the past, and got him some gardening vouchers instead.

Turned out that DS had simply never SEEN him consuming alcohol at his desk in the classroom during school time. "Only ever water" apparently. It hadn't occurred to him that the teacher may have a life outside of school and was probably in dire need of a stiff drink. I hope to God he never found out it was me that went round informing people that he would not welcome alcoholic gifts that year. (The lesson here of course is: Don't try to send alcohol into primary schools in the first place. And don't interfere).

I hope your teachers get their hamsters though, OP!
