10+ exams Trinity and Whitgift 2023 entry

Hello everybody, starting a thread for parents with children who have applied for 10+ this year.

PamZg, if your son has been invited to a music scholarship audition, then he will have met the benchmark for the interview stage of the application process - they don't have the resource to audition children that haven't met the academic interview standard. So congratulations!

For the rest of us, the wait continues 😬

Spoke too soon - literally just received the email (Trinity 10+)! Sounds like they have had problems with their email system today.

Also just got a confirmation from trinity for interview for Friday so they are now coming through

We had applied just for W10+. Still no emails. Wait continues.

we also applied for music and sports scholarships (because why not! 😀) but heard nothing about those. DS is a really excellent sportsman but very much 'football on the common' club level and just really fit (26 minute, 5km pace) and good all rounder rather than county level at anything. Music is more of a 'give it a go' as he plays a less common instrument but with covid and small, less resourced state school he hasn't managed a grade yet at almost 10 so very much a stretch for Trinity music side.

On Trinity's website, Grade 4 on the first instrument is suggested. But I guess that is not enough for popular instruments like piano and violin.

Friend's DS got a music scholarship last year. She said some violin boys had gained grade 8 before the audition.😅

Grade 8? Wowee!

We didn't apply for sports or music scholarship. We didn't think it was right for our DS.

What instruments are your ones playing?

Curious to know what is expected at the music audition.

Yes, we got through the seconds stage but don’t have the date. DS passed first stage through to the interview 😁

if any mums could shed some light on interview style questions and what to expect it would be helpful
especially the mums who have been invited for interview on Friday.

Fabulous news Fabfifi! Were you given an approximate date for the interview? Some friends said 21st Jan. Some have nothing at all.

We have been given 21st January no time mentioned.
emails states interview by 21st January.

No. It’s getting a bit strange. I am sure at least one family on this thread would have had an interview this week. It seems no emails have gone out at all.

Yes, certainly seems quiet on this forum. But I don't know if others have heard. I only know of one other boy applying and they haven't heard. But not sure if that's just us. DS keeps asking bless him and whether I'm just lying to him when I say I haven't heard LOL

Trinity music departmment just sent out 10+ music award audition emails. DS's slot is next Monday and they ask you to make every effort to attend😂

Anyone heard from whitgift 10plus ?

Nothing from W10+ for us yet. Been a month since the 10+ test and interviews are supposed to start on 12th Jan as per their website (13th Jan as per their last email).

I understand they want to interview the 10+ & 11+ candidates around the same time, but they unnecessarily put the 10+ ones through this month-long wait. It may have worked for the school in the past, but doesn't necessarily mean it is the right approach for the 10+ candidates.

Just as I was writing this, got a "Whitgift 10+ Next Steps" email saying "Interview invitations will be emailed in the next 24 hours and will continue to be sent out until the end of January. Parents can select the most suitable date and time from the dates offered. The interviews will take place at Whitgift, and international families will be offered an online option."

Just received a Whitgift no news email. Basically just outlining the process again

We got the same nothing new email too. What is going on?

Interview invitations will be emailed in the next 24 hours and will continue to be sent out until the end of January. Parents can select the most suitable date and time from the dates offered.
