Hello everybody, starting a thread for parents with children who have applied for 10+ this year.

Can anyone who applied for sports scholarship for 10+ at Whitgift please confirm whether their DS was part of the smaller group of 20 on the day of the 10+ test at Whitgift. Trying to understand why that group was discharged much earlier than the rest.

Please mention school name and age group in your posts, since this group is for more than one school + more than one age group.

Hi Pamzg. Which school? We didn't apply for a music award. But some friends did at whitgift and they haven't heard anything yet.

Hi Zebisko. We didn't apply for a sports scholarship, but the teacher who guided the smaller group out said that they finished earlier because they were in the smaller hall. It was an overspill hall effectively because the main whole could not accommodate all children.

I took that to mean the larger hall took longer because it takes longer to hand out papers, collect papers, allowing enough time for all boys to go on loo breaks, all boys to gather belongings etc. But I could be wrong.

We applied for a 10+sports scholarship at Whitgift and my son came out with the larger group and it was the same for his friends.

"I took that to mean the larger hall took longer because it takes longer to hand out papers, collect papers, allowing enough time for all boys to go on loo breaks, all boys to gather belongings etc." Makes perfect sense.

Thanks for confirming.

Hope everybody's feeling ok. I was very relaxed but DS keeps asking because his friend applied and keeps asking him! Seeing the pressure on his little face is horrid.

I received an email from the music departmen said that the music award audition invitations will be send out in the week starting from 2nd January. But I haven't received anything.

If anyone has any update on music award?

We had the same email from Trinity but not heard anything yet either.

PamZg · 09/01/2023 10:02

Trinity 10+ music award.

PamZg · 09/01/2023 10:03

Thank you, good to know. We need a bit more patient here.

Fabfifi · 09/01/2023 10:34

very anxious haven’t heard anything from - praying for everyone.

Seriously. 10+ exam results wait is way longer than 11+ exam results. That too for a much smaller group of applicants.

Fabfifi · 09/01/2023 10:57

Absolutely- really long wait for such young applicants.

Seriously. 10+ exam results wait is way longer than 11+ exam results. That too for a much smaller group of applicants.

The thing is, it will mostly be the same people doing everything so it's really one large group of applicants. With 11+ applicants they have a lot more to get through with a strict deadline so it does make sense that they perhaps concentrate on getting them started first.

it's a huge operation that they've been doing for years though so it does run fairly smoothly.

Not that this helps with any of the stress that parents and prospective pupils are going through!

Limemelt · 09/01/2023 11:07

Guessing it's a combination of Christmas Holidays and written portions of the exam? Does anyone know if 11+ mostly multiple choice or are they the same?

Fabfifi · 09/01/2023 14:50

Any news ? Any updates ?

London2007 · 09/01/2023 15:10

We haven’t heard anything yet. ( Whitgift 10+)

pankajbh · 09/01/2023 15:11

No news yet (Whitgift 10+)

PamZg · 09/01/2023 15:41

Just received an email from Trinity's music department. Interview invitations will be sent out later today. My son is on the 10+ track.

user1473290348 · 09/01/2023 15:57

Great news Pamzg! So your email was from music dept and referred to the general interview and not just the music audition date? In any case, that's very promising and wishing your DS the best of luck!

Fabfifi · 09/01/2023 16:43

Day has almost ended -I don’t think we will be getting an email by today.
loks like another night of anxiety

PamZg · 09/01/2023 16:50

I meant the Trinity 10+ music award audition invitation. Sorry for didn't made it clear.

user1473290348 · 09/01/2023 16:57

Good luck with the music audition. We haven't applied. What will it entail out of curiosity?

Daydreamscometrue · 09/01/2023 17:18

We had an email with next steps (11+) to say interviews would be from 13th - 25th January and that emails would be sent out in batches this week to invite or not invite. Assume no-one has heard for 11+?
