Thought it would be nice to start a support thread on here about the wait for our DC getting into secondary schools. Anyone else glad the tests are all over?

Just got through to a very nice man who told me the website has crashed (no shit), and gave me the happy news that DS1 got into his "long shot" first choice!!! Whoop whoop!!!

Ar, thanks. Gorgeous can have it though, I wasn't that stressed - not really likely DS wouldn't get his choice and a rizsla between local schools anyway - but hey, I'll have a swig - cheers!

I remember the stress though and feel for those of you waiting/disappointed.

DD1 goes to school in Surrey, but she boards and DD2 won't be...so no use to me Sad.

Ghostinthebackofyourhead We got the same e-mail for DD1, a few years ago and it was an almighty COCK-UP. She'd actually got her first choice - which was Superselective GS.

How can something like this happen?

The email says that DD has not been offered a place and the next step....then it's blank. Wtf do they think they're doing sending crap like that out.

DD is crying and asking what will happen to her. All I can do is tell her we'll find her a school where she'll be happy but I have so little faith now.

I am spitting feathers.

Thinking about you all, I have done this twice, with Dd1 we got nothing but eventually got a great school on appeal, Dd2 wanted to go down the road with her friends so nowhere near as stressfull, keep the wine and chocolate flowing. Smile.

Spoke to a friend earlier. His DD had told him our DD hadn't got in the first choice school (she had). They hadn't received an email, but then he remembered it would have been sent to an old email address. So he logged on there, forwarded it and edited it so it looked like she wasn't going to the first choice (he's a bad dad!). And of course, she got the hump as she thought she was going to a diff school from everyone else! :o

Got offered 3rd choice - but as DS has aced his 11+ exams and has scholarships coming out of his ears we are not remotely bothered!

I'm Essex. Mess up with the e-mails so eventually I called them.
We got our top choice. My DC didn't do the 11+

Got an email finally

We got the school we wanted so I'm v relieved. Not sure we would have ever got through to that admissions site!

My email came through to junk mail FYI in case anyone isn't checking there!
