How many of us have DS or DD going into year 6 and so having secondary transfer this year?

How do you feel about it?

DS goes back to school next Monday into class 6.

He has been at same school since Jan 1999, so sort of 7 years this year.

There is one class per year and they are a very close class, have got 26 children.

How do you feel about them entering into their last year at Junior school?

I feel sad that he is going to be leaving.

Is there anybody else who is going through this especially for the first time?

DS doesn't have any younger siblings so when he leaves primary school that will be the end for the family as well. IYSWIM.

Added to this is the secondary transfer issues.

I am sure when it comes to next summer he will be ready to leave as will probably grown up alot by then.

I was just wondering if others were thinking the same as me or whether it is just me being a silly neurotic mother again

.

KANGABOY HAS GOT IN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kangaboy has got a place at the school he did the exams and interview for

He got one of the highest marks in the english papers

Kangaboy did very well in the interview and the report came back that he was "delightful" he talked all about his acting, his story writing that he does all the time at home and then passes them round his classmates, he talked about the Battle at Stamford Bridge, 1066 which is one of his interests

The oral maths went well too although when he asked me some of the questions in the car it took me ages to get them

DH teaches at the same school and was given an appointment to see the Headmaster to hear how DS had done

And he was told that he had a definate place starting sept 2006. It is very hard to believe though.

So thanks to all the positive vibes from Mumsnet

You guys are soooooooooooooo DEFFO BRILL

Thank you for all the support to us all

Wow! Congrats frog and froglet. So I guess that means that we won't be seeing you at the school gate in September?

We won't hear til March, but well done to you both, Frogs and RTKM.

Rianna · 24/01/2006 16:17

Congrats!
I'm still waiting, hopefully by the end of this week I will know.
Rush home everyday to see if the letters are there!

Bink · 24/01/2006 16:23

oh, frogs and RTKM, well done well done well done - both to your offspring and yourselves!

I missed all this, how could I!

I am about to join the ranks of the anxious as ds is doing a try-out this Saturday - idea being (frogs) to see whether this other school is keen on spark even when it comes with independent-mindedness, dreaminess and general square-peggery.

RTKangaMummy · 26/01/2006 11:24

Thanks guys

You are all deffo brill

Have found out that at interview the children are asked current affairs questions and identify pictures -- which were not prepared for

Also they also seem to ask what other schools have been applied to and which one the child would want to go to

Which IMHO is unfair of them to ask

One of DS friends went for interview yesterday and was asked if she got offered a place at the grammar or at this indepandant school which would she choose and she said the grammar

IMHO it is not fair to asjk that of a 10 or 11 year old

mandylifeboats · 04/02/2006 18:36

One more week to wait for DS2's results, will be posted next Friday. Can't beleive there's less than two terms left at Primary.

Thanks, have very hopeful feelings but don't want to count chickens etc. Asked DS what he is feeling about results either way, he wasn't saying! At least we know that Plan B (local comp) is a sound one, so many folk aren't that lucky.

RTKangaMummy · 10/02/2006 19:00

oke doke

will look out for the result tomorrow

The Man from Del Monte he say YES!!!!!

DS2 passed his entrance exam, we are so proud of him, he is a bit overwhelmed I think, needs time for it all to sink in.

Applying online wasn't an option where I live, unfortunately, so I suppose I'll find out a day or two after 1st March.
