I have just spent over an hour taking photos to start my listings later tonight. I have 3 bin bags worth of stuff

I am doing some of my friends stuff too, so it is mostly baby stuff, lots of BNWT, some lovely girls winters coats and 2 boys suits! Will link once I've started.

And thanks all for the welcome back It's weird changing names!!

Tortoise · 20/11/2009 17:03

I will re-list any unsold items from tonights ending items.
Doing ok so far!

ElizabethWakefield · 20/11/2009 20:44

Well done tort!!

Finally after hours I have made a start on my listings! I have 34 on, but that is enough for tonight, I am all ebayed out!!!

My listings are here [

Tortoise · 20/11/2009 20:59

EW Is that the dark trousers i was looking at before? What is the waist measurement please?

Have 6 items left 4 will sell. Once they end i will work out the total made tonight! I think i have done pretty well.

Think i will leave the re-listing until tomorrow night! Will need to adjust some prices as i only listed a bit higher because of free listing.

OP posts:
ElizabethWakefield · 20/11/2009 21:23

Sorry, i had to go and get them out of the cupboard again

yeah it is the same ones as before. The waist measurements across the way is 18 inches or about 46 cm.

Sounds like you have done well tonight.

I have 2 watchers, although I presume one is you

Tortoise · 20/11/2009 22:11

Thanks, will find the tape measure tomorrow lol! Yes 1 of them is me.

Now my total from tonight is £95.08 That doesn't include the 2 v.smile games that sold for £7 each on BIN! Very successful free listing day i think. Shame Ebay and paypal fees will reduce that amount.

OP posts:
mogs0 · 22/11/2009 16:01

Well done tort!!! That's a great total.

Snow - you should get some form of receipt from the courier. Could you print off the paypal transaction and driver to sign it if he isn't offering a receipt?

EW - your items look lovely - good luck!!

Some of mine are ending tonight, some tomorrow and one on Thursday. 14 out of 17 items have bids up to £87 so far!! I'm hoping that one or two items get a couple of last minute bids.

Tortoise · 22/11/2009 16:03

Mogs Your items are doing well . Glad mine didn't end last night. Think i would have done badly if they had.

So many items to package and send. And i have run out of postal bags! Nightmare.

OP posts:
ElizabethWakefield · 22/11/2009 16:16

You have both done really well

I have a couple of bids and a couple of watchers so far, so fingers crossed.

I have more to go on, but will wait for a few days because all the wrapping up and going to the PO with loads at once really puts me off!

But then again there isn't much time until Xmas!!!

wheresmypaddle · 22/11/2009 16:18

Hope you don't mind a newbie on this thread. You have inspired me to ebay DS's unwanted clothes and toys- some are in great condition so hoping can make a bit of extra cash.

I want to get stuck in before I loose motivation but am away from 6 dec for 5 days. Am thinking if I do the usual 7-10 day selling period I may disappoint some buyers by not being able to post quickly due to being away. So my query is- is it a really bad idea to do a shorter selling period- might I really loose out.

If I leave it till after I get back it will be getting close to Christmas and think wonder if will miss out on buyers.

Any advice would be great.

mogs0 · 22/11/2009 16:23

I have been stashing jiffy bags for so long and almost threw them all away a couple of months ago. I must have got side-tracked and not got round to doing it and I'm so glad now because they are all being re-used when my items sell. I ran out of the purpose-bought ones a couple of weeks ago and have been managing with the recycled ones or brown paper.

Also, a couple of weeks ago I received an item packed in a cereal box - genious!!

I have to take items a few at a time to my local PO incase they get fed up with me holding up the queue! They now give me a book of proof of postage certs so I can fill them in before I go in .

mogs0 · 22/11/2009 17:48

Another couple of bids but I'm going to have to go and do something away from the pc until 8 o'clock because I can't help checking the listings and I am wasting so much time!!!

mogs0 · 22/11/2009 20:26

Wheresmypaddle - Hi, welcome!! I always put my items on for a week. I used to think that it was best to end on a Sunday evening but have been convinced by others on here that week-nights are just as good!! If you are able to list your items asap then you should be fine to get them posted out if they sell. I would suggest listing for 7 days then you still have a week from the end of auction until you go away to receive payment and get the items posted out.

Tortoise · 22/11/2009 20:52

I listed my last lot of 5 day listing. And i still did well. Sometimes think that people wouldn't look down pages and pages of listings so more likely to see items in the last 24hrs.

Have re-listed lots but adjusted prices from free listing last week. Most on 99p start now!

OP posts:
mogs0 · 22/11/2009 21:06

First few have finished. Most reached a good price, 2 didn't sell, one more item finishing later tonight and already reached the price I wanted. I don't know what to do about re-listing. One of the items is a designer dress and definitely don't want to risk it selling for 99p!! The things that have sold are quite bulky so I'm very pleased to be getting them out of my house!!!

janx · 22/11/2009 22:14

Oh am so pleased - sold 5 things tonight - yipee

mogs0 · 22/11/2009 22:18

Yay, well done!!

NickNemo · 23/11/2009 11:32

Snowball, how do I do that? Can I revise my item now and link the pics directly. Thanks, if it works it will do a lot for my listing.

Just listed the highchair here today.

I want to list the cot as well, but not sure if it will sell.

Only 25 days for me to list everything as we have finally sorted out our move... freezing Edmonton in Canada (brrr!)

NickNemo · 23/11/2009 11:39

PS - Have I put the BIN for the highchair too high? I just want it to go, so won't mind if it goes for £10 quid!

ElizabethWakefield · 23/11/2009 12:23

well done those who sold their stuff!

I have still only have a couple of bids, and some watchers.

I am going to list more stuff tomorrow night, mostly brand new or worn once baby items. Not sure how well things will sell, but it's worth a try!!

mogs0 · 23/11/2009 18:19

EW - Definitely worth a try!!

Nemo - I don't think your BIN is too high - it's a bragain at £25 (although it is a long time since I bought a high chair so not sure how much they cost new!). Also, have you checked completed listings for a cot similar to yours to see if it's worth listing yours? I've never bought or sold one on there so wouldn't really know how much to expect for one.

I have 7 items ending tonight - all with bids on. One pair of pjs has got ridiculously high bid on it and I've described them as a bit bobbly and well worn! I feel really guilty that they're at the price they are - especially when the pair in better condition are currently at a lower price!!

I'm also getting quite a few emails about the Trunki and I'm struggling to get clear enough photos of the scratches on it to send to bidders. I don't want to mis-lead anyone with it and feel I have been honest about its condition but I worry that people haven't read the listing fully.

Another hour until they end so I'm going to go and make some dinner to distract myself!

NickNemo · 24/11/2009 15:23

Thanks Mogs. Must admit I had a bit of a panic thinking the BIN may be too high.

Finally listed the cot here... hope it sells I could really do with the money. Is it usual to include the mattress? I've just said buyer can have it if they want.

Looked at some other cots, they seem to be going in the region of £25 - £30, so fingers crossed.

ElizabethWakefield · 24/11/2009 20:23

How did your items go last night Mogs?

Good luck with the cot Nemo

I added a few more items tonight [http://shop.ebay.co.uk/claireandamy/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686 here they are]] I now have 46 things on, which will do for now!

I still have loads more to go on, but will wait until this lot have finished I think! Most end tomorrow night, some watchers and some bidders, so fingers crossed

Grufflemummy · 24/11/2009 21:32

I sold all my items! Made just over £40, so a good start... I have some more on now, but nothing spectacular.
I think it's a bit too close to christmas to list clothes... do baby things do okay over christmas? I'm guessing those due in early Jan might be looking over the holidays...

Mogs- I was watching your pjs.... went for a great price! White company stuff always holds its value really well though (which is good, because its fairly expensive).

Did anyone else have problems over the weekend with their auctions not showing up in searches? I was a bit really, who knows how much extra sellers could have made.

How do you cope with sending out so many parcels? I keep the number of auctions down, as its such a headache bagging up, labelling, and going to the PO.

Also, big question... how do you get proof of postage if you use the print postage option? Seems like a great idea, but no good if stuff goes missing. Any ideas?
