Early Spring Clean : Anyone for a 400 pounds by Easter challenge?

Gameboy · 19/01/2007 13:44

Was listening to a radio programme the other day about making money from your old things and it made me realise how much stuff I've got 'waiting to go on eBay'.

Just wondered if anyone fancied a challenge to see how much we can each make from selling the unwanted stuff we have by Easter. I reckon I could get to about ?400 maybe?

We'd have to share our eBay names, and then keep a running total of everything we sell between now and 31st March?

For simplicity's sake I'd suggest we just tot up the totals invoiced (incl. P&P)rather than the net profit IYSWIM?
To include only unwanted items - not trading of new goods etc....

I thought if it became competitive it might spur me into action more !

Amazing what you can do when you go through the amount of RUBBISH in your house!

Im shocking myself actually! Thing is we packed up a lot of our stuff in September when we thought we would be moving, never unpacked it, and didnt miss anything we packed away, so the boxes are being sorted into

A) SERIOUSLY SENTIMENTAL

B) SERIOUSLY USEFUL

C) EBAY

D) FREECYCLE

jampot · 27/01/2007 14:49

Ive just sold some thunderbird toys for £30.81 as I forgot about this thread. Can I join in now?

satine · 27/01/2007 14:58

Well, so far I'm on £92.30. I've also sold two other items for £110, but those people haven't paid yet. And my current items are up to about £28, I think. So I'm quite pleased - although our boiler broke this week, so I've had to promise the first £200 I make to help towards the repair cost.

My trip to the posh hairdresser's might have to be put back a bit!

But well done JARM, blimey, your kids must be frightened of standing still too long in case you start getting ideas about them....

JARM · 27/01/2007 17:05

LOL Satine - the thought did cross my mind!!

Any interest in a 2.6yr old female with enough energy to put an olympic athlete to shame and a 1.3yr old female also know as little miss self-harm who is no longer safe in a cot and eats more than an average adult...... go on, place your bids ROFL (I am joking before anyone reports me)

No further forward this afternoon - except have cleared out another load of stuff to list tomorrow on 7 day auction..... probably another £50/£60 worth of stuff!

I am a serial hoarder!

Just one question............. I have a 5 disc limited edition trilogy of the Lion King, they are selling for a minimum of £60 at the moment - do I or dont I?!

justbeme · 27/01/2007 17:26

Jarn I dont know if we should be talking to you stil!!
How long do you normally place things on auction for as you seem to have the money rolling in? Do you do alot of Buy It nows?
Im up to £74 odd on my current selling items and loads of people watching stuff - they end 2mrow and monday so hope they sell! So thats about £106 in total so far plus postage.
Mind you I SPENT money on ebay today!! I bought a baby heartbeat listening device (whilst in your womb) for £11 inc p & p!!

justbeme · 27/01/2007 17:27

sorry i meant *Jarm**!!

tortoise · 27/01/2007 17:32

Jarm You aredoing great!

My 1st few items are ending in a few hours. So far 3 items will sell total price (without p & P) is £6.98! Wow!!

Is anyone in the same situation as me where you are really skint and struggle to afford to post items? Can't transfer from Paypal until over £50 so have to find the money out of benifits! Lots to list but put off by finding money for postage.

At least some have sold.

cece · 27/01/2007 17:34

I ask for cheques and postal orders only - that way I get the cash staright away...

justbeme · 27/01/2007 17:36

I noticed one seller asked for a bankers draft or postal orders - but dont both options COST the buyer??
