Early Spring Clean : Anyone for a 400 pounds by Easter challenge?

Gameboy · 19/01/2007 13:44

Was listening to a radio programme the other day about making money from your old things and it made me realise how much stuff I've got 'waiting to go on eBay'.

Just wondered if anyone fancied a challenge to see how much we can each make from selling the unwanted stuff we have by Easter. I reckon I could get to about ?400 maybe?

We'd have to share our eBay names, and then keep a running total of everything we sell between now and 31st March?

For simplicity's sake I'd suggest we just tot up the totals invoiced (incl. P&P)rather than the net profit IYSWIM?
To include only unwanted items - not trading of new goods etc....

I thought if it became competitive it might spur me into action more !

excellent hanks ceola how exactly did you do that i thought i had followed the instructions but not right thanks

Ceolas · 29/01/2007 12:52

You need to type "\link" then your url followed by "\stuff" or whatever.

So for yours I typed \link {http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZsmileyQ5fragdoll\stuff}

Without the space after link.

camera · 29/01/2007 12:54

ahh i see i need to actually type the word link

thanks

I listed my shoes last night and they have already been viewed 47 times. No watchers as yet but a couple of email questions already. I'm excited and pooping myself in equal measures

justbeme · 29/01/2007 14:47

Can I ask a question about Paypal? Up till now only had a couple of transactions go thru it - and left money in the account and then spent it again on ebay! But now, 'cos of the sudden upturn in transactions, they "held back" a credit, waiting for me to decide if I was going to upgrade to premier account . I chose not to - as couldnt get my head around it and thought i might not sell too much more - and now my credit has come thru minus commission - I dont remember having commission deducted before - Did I? or am i just being thick? If so can some one tell me if you sell an item for £10 - how much does it cost to list/and sell on ebay and then get a credit onto paypal - Thanks!"

fannyannie · 29/01/2007 19:18

well I've posted the 8 items I'd sold on ebay, plus the video I sold on MN today. I've also relisted a few of the items that didn't sell last time......you never know they may sell . Plus I've added 2 new items - and may get a few more added before I go to work tonight (although I must tidy the kitchen and iron my uniform before I do any more ebaying LOL).

fannyannie · 29/01/2007 20:06

OMG!!! you see this lot - and how much it went for (and there's been a few others gone for similar prices)............well I've got the EXACT same bear sitting here in front of me - I was about to stick it on but thought I'd have a browse to see if they sold....now he's definitely going on !

nikkie · 29/01/2007 20:16

My selling is now up to £60!!!!!!!!!but only 13/50 are selling atm.Still have 3 days to go though until the first auctions are finished.

tortoise · 29/01/2007 20:18

Good luck with the bear FA.Good price. Wish i had one.

nikkie · 29/01/2007 20:24

Anyone read this?

radcliffe · 29/01/2007 20:33

Just looked, it's amazing what people will buy. What's the most surprising item anyone has sold so far.

tortoise · 29/01/2007 21:28

Few more bits added. Fingers crossed for sales!

well I listed the Harrods bear just under 20 minutes ago and I already have one person watching it !

Gameboy · 30/01/2007 16:55

OK - update - have £89.39 from my items last week and I have 11 watchers on some gloves ending tomorrow.

I can't believe it - a pair of maternity jeans I had no takers last week on, I relisted and they just sold on a BIN for £4.99!

I haven't really used BIN much in the past - do you think there are quite a lot of buyers who just want to get on with it and not wait to see if they can get them for less?

How do you set BIN prices? Do you check all the completed listings?

OP posts:
fannyannie · 30/01/2007 16:58

well after ebay charges and P&P costs I've made about £30 now - just over £50 in my paypal account.

My Harrods bear has a bid on it already - shall be sad to see him go actually he was quite special (my mum bought him for me just after our dog - who they'd had since before I was born - died). Anyhow - I just had to show you my listing I made for it..........

justbeme · 30/01/2007 17:36

Hi total in MyEbay is £220 odd pound!
What do you do about buyers that dont leave ANY feedback even after yourve reminded them? 'cos the sale doesnt look like its completed then.
