Hmm, proof of posting isn't the same as proof if delivery though is it? I suppose I'm worrying overly about potential tricky buyers. I think I read that you should send by a trackable method so I took that as gospel .

fergoose · 14/07/2012 20:49

It is part of the paypal agreement that you send with proof of delivery - which is why if a buyer says they didn't receive an item, and you have no signature, Paypal will always give the buyer a refund.

LineRunner · 14/07/2012 21:31

That's why post charges are going to make ebay less attractive. That and shitty buyers.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 15/07/2012 21:01

It's difficult, I tend to go for the cheapest postage to look appealing on low sales prices (less than £5) on the grounds that I can write it off if there is a problem.

Sunday sales are going through... think there will be an awful lot to relist.

milk · 16/07/2012 08:15

I just listed 2 items as "buy it now"- and they sold within 5 minutes Grin

Total sales:
£356.49 Grin

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 16/07/2012 11:17

ooh, well done!

I have made a whole £7.96 in my first round(!) Oh dear. Never mind, lots to relist.

Wrapping up one of the things I've noticed it's got a few small defects I didn't explicitly mention, should I email and say before I post it, do you think? They have already paid (it was listed as used, but I like to be more thorough normally)

LineRunner · 16/07/2012 15:30

TeWi, did you list it as used?

I guess even so I would probably send a message ahead, just to check they still wanted it, just to avoid any future faffing about with a return/refund.

Don't know what others think?

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 16/07/2012 18:08

Oh darn it - just missed your message. It was listed as used and it's only very small bits of wear I hadn't noticed so I thought feck it and just sent it anyway - definately won't quibble it if they want to return though!

LineRunner · 16/07/2012 18:32

I think I would personally accept reasonable wear with a 'used' item. The trouble is, you don't know when you're dealing with a crackpot...

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 16/07/2012 18:58

Bah, I should have said something. Never mind...

LineRunner · 16/07/2012 19:01

Well, they may just accept the item.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 16/07/2012 19:05

True! Must be optimistic.

How are you doing?

LineRunner · 16/07/2012 19:13

I find a lot of things are going for 99p or £1-and-something. Not really worth the bother!

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 16/07/2012 19:18

I've found the same really... thinking of raising prices a bit so at least if you only get 1 bid it's a bid I'm happy with.

I need the space (and the money!) though.

RecursiveMoon · 16/07/2012 20:14

They might be happy TiWi. What about offering a partial refund if they contact you?

I've been listing used clothes for the first time, and erring on the side of saying good condition if it's in very good condition, and very good condition only if it's been worn once or so.

I try to put a starting price on that I'd be happy to receive. It's gone both ways for me though - things selling either for higher or lower than I thought they would. And I've had some postage mistakes too (in both directions!), but I think I've got that sorted out now flirts with man in Post Office Grin .

RecursiveMoon · 16/07/2012 20:15

Bloody hell milk Shock, what did you sell?

milk · 17/07/2012 08:36

United Nude shoes for £25, and Topshop Kate Moss dress for £5.

I am so angry at people who click "buy it now" then do not pay Angry The shoe person paid, but the person who bought the dress has not :(

fergoose · 17/07/2012 11:49

Milk - I think your postage is the price which should be put down - £4.75 for economy delivery seems very overpriced - first class would prob only cost £2.70 - unless the dresses are very heavy?

RecursiveMoon · 17/07/2012 12:08

I'd say £3.50 for delivery, then send 2nd class recorded (£3.15).

LineRunner · 17/07/2012 12:43

I'm starting to raise some opening bids to a price I can live with - I'm not talking about taking the p*, just prices like £3.99. It's worth the small charge (15p?) I think to do this. Then if they don't sell now, I'll re-list nearer the Christmas splurge season (which let's face it, starts in September).

Postage and me aren't even on speaking terms at the moment ... Grin

RecursiveMoon · 17/07/2012 17:44

That sounds like a good plan LineRunner Smile. You could re-list when it's a free listings weekend and avoid the charge that way if you wanted to as well.

I'm going to try to list some things on Thursday night for 10 days (and therefore 2 weekends)...

LineRunner · 17/07/2012 21:17

I'm seriously fed up of idiots who buy nice stuff at knock down and then moan about it - basically to try to get it for free.

The clue is always 'Before I tell ebay...' or 'I might have to tell ebay...'

When I ask them to return it for a refund, they don't like it. Is there not any way to report these muppets?

DontEatTheVolesKids · 18/07/2012 13:06

How am I going to be keep on top of FLW notices without you guys?

I sent pair of cheap trainers yesterday in light cardboard box for £3.50 (2nd class not recorded), so £4.75 to pack a nice dress well & send recorded doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 19/07/2012 16:49

Oh good - buyer happy with item.

One non-payer (but only 99p), was meant to list more tonight but it will have to just be relisting as I've got no time to take photos now.
