But LineRunner - it will help towards your feedback score, and it was a bargain, wasn't it ? So you will have actually saved money! Grin

RecursiveMoon · 05/07/2012 21:41

I just listed a couple of things on a 10 day auction - so they'll end next Sunday night, and hopefully lots of people will see them over the next 2 weekends.

I'm going to post my first eBay sale tomorrow Smile!

PurpleFrog · 06/07/2012 08:18

Free listing again this weekend! Just got the email!

I am going away at the beginning of next week for 10 days. I can't believe I am trying to decide whether to put some stuff up on Sunday evening with a 10 day listing, as I will be back the day after they finish to post! Apart from the possibility of getting lots of questions I can't answer without my items to hand, it always takes me so long to get things listed that I know trying to list as I am packing is totally mad unrealistic.....

mogs0 · 06/07/2012 11:51

Blast, I'm going away tomorrow morning! I might just relist unsold items on Sunday when I get back...hmm, I think I said a few days ago that I was going to have an eBay break...oops Grin

AdventuresWithVoles · 06/07/2012 12:13

Thanks for the FLW notice :).

RecursiveMoon · 07/07/2012 16:02

Is everyone listing and re-listing like mad Smile?

I've re-listed a couple of things - I knocked ~50p off postage (it wasn't high though!) and £1 off the start price. So we'll see what happens.

I've learned that lots of watchers don't necessarily mean lots of bids / a decent price though. When is the best time for an auction to end? Maybe that was the issue Confused.

LineRunner · 07/07/2012 16:08

Someone said on another thread to make sure you end the auction either on a weekend or evening. Good advice, I reckon.

I dragged my DS in to list his unwanted Xbox games but we were only allowed to list a few, as newbies. Can understand why, though - bloody burglars' charter, otherwise.

Does anyone ever feel guilt at selling an unwanted gift and getting more than it's probably really worth ?

RecursiveMoon · 07/07/2012 20:34

Thanks LineRunner. How are your sales going? I think we started at about the same time. I'm selling clothes, shoes etc first, then moving on to the things that I'm less confident about dealing with (iPods etc). I'm dreading tricky customers, but aiming to play firm but fair.

RecursiveMoon · 07/07/2012 20:35

LineRunner, I'd sell a gift if it wouldn't be used otherwise. If it was for DS, I'd buy him something with the £ or put it into his bank account though. Less so for DH Grin.

LineRunner · 08/07/2012 18:53

I have sold and posted five items. Feedback on three - all good!

What I like is that my 14 year son is joining in and helping me list and post, and it's good to see him have a hobby that makes him a few quid as well!

RecursiveMoon · 08/07/2012 19:40

Actually, I think it's a great thing to teach your son LineRunner. I'm feeling really thrifty now that I'm Ebaying Grin. I've sold 5 or 6 things too (something even sold for over £30 today!). I've had snipe bidders (is that the term?), which I suppose is the way to do it, but I can't quite reconcile myself with it.

bobkate · 08/07/2012 20:14

I'm back in the swing of things. Just got my listings and relistings done so pleased about that! Let's hope they do well Grin I still think that with the fees and paypal fees and postage I'm not really making very much at all but I suppose it all adds up....just rather more slowly than I'd like! Here are my listings if anyone fancies taking a look Smile here

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 08/07/2012 21:19

Hello - very late start, but joining in, if that's okay.

Have just listed masses of nappies and starting on twenty million beads... (Who knew how much stuff I had that doesn't get used?)

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 08/07/2012 23:00

Okay, 57 listed so far mostly nappies and beads, plus a few odd bits and pieces.

Will do the rest tomorrow.

LineRunner · 08/07/2012 23:40

Crikey, you are all so professional!

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 09/07/2012 07:59

oh, you bastards ebay!

They have taken off most of my nappies.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 09/07/2012 08:09

Weirdly I can't work out how to take off the others that break the rules (it didn't specifically say you couldn't list used nappies, or I wouldn't've blinking bothered listing them all Angry) and they didn't delete.

fergoose · 09/07/2012 08:20

I guess the nappies were reported - you will have to end any other listings if they break the rules.

Nappies which are used are not allowed - they don't give a used option in the drop down box when listing do they - only a new option.

fergoose · 09/07/2012 08:21

pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/end_early.html

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 09/07/2012 09:59

I did wonder about that! But there were lots of recently sold used nappies coming up, and it didn't say anything anywhere so I figured it was fine. Annoying.

I can't find the item numbers either.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 09/07/2012 10:01

oh hang on, it works from the drop down menu.

RecursiveMoon · 09/07/2012 12:53

How do I politely deal with a non-payer? I was thinking of sending them a message to remind them on day 3, then opening a case on day 4?

I wish they hadn't bought the item, I could have re-listed it for free yesterday.

AdventuresWithVoles · 09/07/2012 13:07

Probably reasonable, Recursive, but personally I would try to leave it more than 4 days before expecting payment unless in your listing you said you wanted very fast payment.

How does a seller set it up so that an item must be paid for immediately by Paypal?

fergoose · 09/07/2012 13:11

Recursive I don't think it is worth sending polite reminders, I think if someone isn't going to pay no amount of polite reminders will make any difference. I just open a case on day 4, then if they don't pay close it 4 days later.

Adventures when you list the item BIN you just tick a box which says you want immediate payment.

LineRunner · 09/07/2012 16:27

I've sent reminders on Day 2 just saying, 'Thanks so much for bidding and buying - I'll be happy to dispatch just as soon as payment's confirmed by ebay.' Seems to work.

Tbh if I sold something on a weekend I wouldn't think much of it if I didn't get paid till mid-week. I'd just assume they'd been away.
