We are up to 1000 posts on the other thread, so thought I'd start a new one. And also because as of today my feedback rating is 1000 & I now have a red star

Please keep posting, I love this thread; it's so friendly and interesting!

Got some bits listed. 2 lovely pairs of gap trousers. Not sure photos do them justice. Will link later when on laptop.

HalleLouja · 28/11/2011 18:41

Question -what do I do if someone hasn't received a packaged posted second class a couple of weeks ago.

I should have proof of posting but it was sold for 99p so no recorded delivery. Help please.

lljkk · 28/11/2011 19:23

When you say "a couple" is that more than 2 weeks? Exactly how many days ago?
I think you're heading for a full refund, but I am trying to figure out if it would be reasonable to ask them to wait a bit longer.

lljkk · 28/11/2011 19:35

ugh, Request a Final Valuation Fee credit.
Exactly how do I do that?
It's only 10p so I'm not going to sweat... but I should learn how to do this. Story:
NPB on an item that sold for 99p almost 3 weeks ago.
4 days ago I opened a case (Resolution Centre).
I just closed the case on Resolution Centre (was that wrong)?
I keep reading things about how to "Request a final value fee credit", but that page doesn't actually tell me what to do that I haven't already done... or is it automatic? When I told Resolution Centre that Buyer hadn't paid, and I wanted to close the case, will the FVF get refunded automatically?

I don't want to relist, btw, I want to advertise in local free ads.

Any help welcome!

lljkk · 28/11/2011 19:40

oops, never mind me, I found it (they don't like to make it obvious, do they? Hmm)

HalleLouja · 28/11/2011 19:43

It was 2 weeks ago today I sent it.

lljkk · 28/11/2011 20:12

I think that I would ask very very nicely if they could wait until Saturday morning post (3 Dec.), see if it turns up by then; if they won't wait or if it doesn't turn up by then follow Ebay procedure for cancelling the transaction, which will let you issue refund as soon as they agree to cancel (and let you get your 10p FVF back, too, I think, if you care).

If you have proof of posting you can claim back from Royal Mail the 99p + your postage costs, so you shouldn't be out of pocket except for listing fees.

lljkk · 28/11/2011 20:13

ps: but don't do anything until somebody cleverer than me says they'd do what I said, too. Wink

fergoose · 28/11/2011 20:50

I agree - ask them to wait a bit longer and in the meantime ask them to check with neighbours and sorting office as many posties don't leave a card.

an item isn't considered lost until 3 weeks after posting, so once that time has passed you can then claim from royal mail.

lljkk · 29/11/2011 13:51

that's right, see if you can gently ask them to wait the full 3 weeks; all the post is grinding to a halt right now (pre Xmas onslaught). I'm trying to time my auctions to end by 10 December if it's possibly for Christmas; last year I had stuff that took 6 weeks to be delivered (snow didn't help).

Carrotsandcelery · 30/11/2011 13:40

I just sold something I bought in a jumble sale for £1.50 for £18 Shock Fingers crossed there is no problem with it.

I am having terrible trouble with my charity account though. Last week the sales showed an egg timer and eventually, when I went into paypal it said it was safe to post but they were holding my cash.

This week I have the egg timer again but it doesn't say it is safe to post - it just shows the balance from last week. Every item sold has an egg timer though. I don't know if I should post or not. Confused

HalleLouja · 30/11/2011 19:27

Have asked them to check with sorting office and to see if they will wait. Fingers crossed. Am getting bored of selling but think my total including car boot sales is about £500 so worth the effort I have put in.

Thanks for all your help and support have still got items to shift and baby will be growing out of 3 to 6 months clothes soon so might try some of them.

TeWihara · 30/11/2011 19:40

Erm... can you email the buyers and ask what it says at their end?

Got the best feedback today. "SWEET STUFF." yup. That's all.

lljkk · 30/11/2011 19:49

Stoopid question, I know, but please bear with me:

If put an item on BIN for 30 days & it doesn't sell, I can relist, and if it sells the 2nd time I get my listing fee back (from the first listing). That's right, I think?

But if it doesn't sell the 2nd time or 3rd either... should I keep relisting? I mean do I pay listing fees each time but only get a refund for the first time listed?

Item is only listed for gbp 2.39, and has already been listed twice for 30 days each time, hence why I am trying to figure out should I list again....

(thicko, I know, just trying to figure out if there's any point)

Carrotsandcelery · 01/12/2011 14:40

LLJKK oops, sorry for shouting. I am sorry but I have no idea if you will be charged or have your fees refunded. Maybe a more knowledgeable ebayer can advise.

One of the 4 items I sold for my charity lists has finally been cleared for postage. I have no idea why it is taking so long. At least I know now just to sit it out and wait.

I am also baffled by the buyer who complained about an item. I asked her to post it back to me and she is yet to do so. How long do I give her to get it back to me?

notcitrus · 01/12/2011 16:41

I think if you relist multiple times, you only get one listing fee credit when it finally does sell, so no point in paying to relist if it's going to cost more than you might earn. Could be wrong, though.

carrots - suspect many buyers decide they can't be arsed to return an item for a refund. Obviously don't give the refund until you get it back but I'd just ignore it - just keep it in the back of your mind for three months until they can't leave feedback! But then I'm a cynical so-and-so.

Did the person on here selling Schleich toy animals sell them? Was looking for a rhino just after their listing ended but the BIN ones on Ebay are 2-3x what they are in the shops!

Doubt I'll sell anything else by Christmas - good luck to those of you still working hard at it!

lljkk · 01/12/2011 17:28

Shout away, sometimes it takes that to get thru to me (thicko).

You can search completed items, notcitrus to see if Schleich animals are selling. It's funny... I bought DD a load of Schleich horses, she showed little interest, so I nearly flogged them all 9 months later &suddenly she fell in love & they are now top toys/sacred.

I am having to restrain myself from flogging all of DC's favourite things, can you tell? Grin Wink

notcitrus · 01/12/2011 20:03

It's the opposite problem lljkk - I want to buy them! Will have to schlepp my aching pregnant body to the hell of Croydon shopping centre instead. Or, of course, decide that ds and the dns are getting enough presents already and not bother...

Have to admit that on the whole, SPD has saved me a fortune, as if it's not available online, I'm not buying it! And I'm not going out much or commuting.

Schleich seem to have taken over the plastic animal market from Britains - ds is getting my toy farmyard this Christmas with a selection of animals, but the Schleich ones are a lot bigger. Which is good for some species where the Britains ones are tiny.

Tortoise · 03/12/2011 07:21

My items end tomorrow.
Nerf guns have interest but not doing well so far.
Just the hm jet left now. Had an offer but I counter offered a little higher!
Little mini Boden dress doing ok too.

Carrotsandcelery · 03/12/2011 11:01

I have had another buyer grumbling. Is it the time of year? I am painfully honest in my listings so there should be no need for disappointment. I think I am going to take a break from ebay for a few weeks over the festivities as it is getting too grumpy. I am also worried about losing things in the post. I will let my meagre listings finish and then take a breather.

lljkk · 03/12/2011 13:04

If you think the grumbling is bad now, wait until stuff is very delayed in the pre-Xmas-postal deluge, I won't run any auctions to finish after 10 December, and even that might be too late.

Start selling again around Boxing day Wink.

Carrotsandcelery · 03/12/2011 13:11

Good advice I suspect and I will listen. No more listings from me for now. Too stressful. Grin

mygirllollipop · 03/12/2011 22:09

Another £70 made this time around, and that'll be it before xmas due to time and that I'll be away. My total is £250 + more space in the house (until xmas).

Tortoise · 03/12/2011 23:01

Nerf guns didnt do as well as I hoped. In fact, not much of a result all round tonight. Few bits ending tomorrow but not doing well.
Have some ski trousers to list but not sure when to do them. Ski gloves didn't sell. And possibly a adult Santa suit but the red slightly dyed the white bits pale pink!

lljkk · 04/12/2011 11:07

Bummer, Tortoise :(.
Some nerf guns are less durable than others. Maybe that's what caught you out (DS is a connoseur).
I have a load auctions finishing tonite, all selling for certain, fingers Xd.
I listed a load last night to finish Saturday coming, almost all for DS2 (he might get 50p profit on the lot, :)).
