This thread is for anyone trying to conceive... or thinking about doing so through donor IUI or donor IVF. Nothing TMI - feel free to join, we are a lovely group here to support and help keep the cray-cray away!

Aww how lovely of you to invite us. There are some days I struggle to get him out of the house to the shops so I'm not sure how I'd cope with a 3hr train journey and navigating London. I'm glad you're having a meet up though and I'll be there with you in spirit!

hopingandwaiting · 31/03/2017 15:30

Just realised that makes it sound like I'm struggling; I'm not - I just have a habit of letting time get away with me, and also, he likes to eat A LOT!!

cazinge · 31/03/2017 16:42

Sorry I haven't rtft yet but I can I join?

Me - 29, DW - 44 (same sex couple). Regular cycle, no known issues but scans show ovaries are mild PCO. Due to age, I am having treatment.

3 x medicated DIUI in late 2015/ 2016 with 2 different donors. All BFN.

Started DIVF on a short protocol on 22/3 so today is Day 10 of stimms (5 days of 150 menopur, 2 days of 300) & they have upped my dose to 450. Lots of follicles (20+) but they aren't bloody growing! Back Monday for a scan & targetting EC for Wednesday. Using another different donor this time.

INeedNewShoes · 31/03/2017 16:43

Pez - great news about your little embryos Smile

Re the meet-up, I could probably do April 22 & 23 I just didn't tick them as it feels a little close to my due date to be going far from my hospital. If you do end up meeting up that weekend, I might see how I feel nearer the time, if that's ok.

Munrowalker · 31/03/2017 17:22

@pez that sounds really promising. Great news!
IUI was truly horrid. It was a lot more painful than I had anticipated. The nurse struggled to find my cervix and the whole thing was horrible. However, it's done so fingers crossed for us.
Taking the staying warm thing to heart. Just home, fire on, blankets and a warm dog on my lap.
Feeling a bit funny inside (like mild period twinges) don't know if that's normal or I'm just hypersensitive to any feeling.
I was also a bit emotional afterwards, but considering how long we've waited for this then I guess that can be forgiven?
Such a long day....6+hr round trip for a 15min procedure.

Munrowalker · 31/03/2017 17:23

Hi cazinge
Fingers crossed for your follies for Mondays scan

Pez82 · 31/03/2017 17:23

Welcome cazinge! Hope the follies keep growing until Wednesday - if only we could see what's going on in there!!

So re meet up, we have 3 dates with 6 votes:

sat 22Apr: kwick cannot make it (and potentially Shoes)
Sun 23Apr: Phoenix cannot make it (and potentially Shoes)
sun 30Apr: Late and Shoes cannot make it

Kwick, Late, Phoenix, any chance your availability has changed since yesterday?

Anyone else who wants to respond there is still time Smilehttps://doodle.com/poll/ammrqyhqx9d7fu2f

Plan is to meet near witch's hut in North London - in the park/ witch's grounds weather permitting

Pez82 · 31/03/2017 17:27

Yay Munro well done! I'm sure kwick will send you her TWW list© later
Mild cramping is perfectly normal - now give yourself a few days before you start symptom spotting 😉

pickle162 · 31/03/2017 17:30

Jeez peeps I go to work for 9 hours & there is loads to catch up on....

Eek Munro-congrats on ur first iui!!! How did it go? Keeping everything crossed
I have to admit that one of the reasons I wanted to start in May was so babies birthday wouldn't be Dec or Jan (I'm sure I won't give a monkeys, I'll just want a baby)

Welcome cazinge

Pez fab news about ur little embies!!!

My AMH is 9 Phoenix and I'm 33 (haven't had any other tests) my consultant recommended stimulated iui and the clinic results are 28% for last 2 years (for stim. Iui) he said do 3 (they review after each cycle) then completely re-review

Redcliff · 31/03/2017 17:40

I

Munrowalker · 31/03/2017 17:52

I won't make an April date for a meet up as April is full for me with walking season kicking off again but to be honest I probably couldn't make a London meet up anyway so I won't do the poll as ill only skew your data 😂😂😂

Bear1980 · 31/03/2017 18:00

Yay pez that all sounds like good news for your embryos. Fingers crossed for tomorrow

I won't make a meet up in April but hope those who can make it have a good time 😀

StorkAhoy · 31/03/2017 18:13

Hi all.

Pez, fabulous news! I'm hoping this good vibe continues for you!

I can't do April I'm afraid, I'm travelling with work and have something with friends every weekend, which is alarming as I rarely go anywhere! Don't let me stop you though!

Made an appt with Wales fc. Who were more sympathetic about my two failed transfer than my fc were. And they've got me in quicker too, next Saturday for a Skype consult.

kwick · 31/03/2017 18:45

pez well done!!! Such great news!

Welcome @cazinge !!!

Welcome to TWOT @Munrowalker - it is normal to have a few twinges. Take care. Please see my "patent pending" top tips list

Sorry pez no changes to my availability

Ummm @Redcliff Are you placemarking?

BTW I am currently on way back from Paris, under the channel 🌊

My availability hasn't changed sorry - it's my birthday lunch (birthday's 19th) and after a few years of not doing anything I've been determined to actually do something this year.

PhoenixMama · 31/03/2017 19:28

Damn it! Sent too soon!

Pez congrats on your amazing embies!

Well done Munro! Crossing everything for you!

Welcome cazinge!

So here's another one... heard from StorkKlinic again - this time saying I need to get a letter from my GP saying that the antidepressants I take are safe for pregnancy (ummm shouldn't they know that?) It's sertraline and can be taken. But they also want the gp to say that I am not a danger to my child and would be able to care for one... Hmm

I suffered severe postnatal depression & psychosis with my DD (which wasn't on my paperwork) but that was 6+ years ago and I suffer only mild depression now. I'm sure my gp will write the letter but it just felt very judgey! I will be higher risk for antenatal & postnatal depression but I'll also be heavily monitored & am a keen self advocate. My current gp gives me pretty much complete control over my prescription if I want it up or down, etc.

Anyone else had that request too?

INeedNewShoes · 31/03/2017 19:33

Phoenix - it's standard procedure if you have any interesting medical history for the clinic to request the letter from your GP. I have ulcerative colitis and had to supply a letter from my GP re my meds & pregnancy and my capacity to look after a child in view of my medical condition.

Try to remember they are trying to look after you as much as anything. It would be irresponsible for them to treat you if they knew it was setting you up into an unmanageable situation.

Redcliff · 31/03/2017 19:38

kwick - I'm so sorry. No idea what happened there! Good luck to you al though

Pez82 · 31/03/2017 19:41

Ok peeps, I've realised 1st May is the Spring bank holiday so I've added it to the poll as well as the following weekend

doodle.com/poll/ammrqyhqx9d7fu2f

Let's make the final decision tomorrow!

pickle162 · 31/03/2017 23:10

I've updated my dates. I can do 1st may too (day before 1st scan-so may be super excited/sh!tting myself all at once

CautionHormone · 01/04/2017 00:27

Hi laaadies - feeling much better today, almost back to the land of living! My flow has reduced and the pains subsided a bit (apart from frequent, random pains on my lower left hand side), but I can cope with that and understand it's only nine days post op!

Re the meet up - Shoes, I live in Northampton, and aren't very good with trains either Blush especially not on my own. If I come, I'll be driving, and will be more than happy to pick you up en route (I'm a very safe driver Wink) but I've heard London is a bitch to navigate!
It's all down to anxiety and crowds and stuff; the MK meet up sounds much better (especially as I'm closer) so if the next meet was to be MK, I'd definitely come to that one!

Munro yay for your IUI Smile
Sorry it was uncomfortable and more difficult than you expected, but it's over with now and you can look forward to the TWOT Wink

Pez, also great news!! Glad they're already behaving Wink fingers crossed for tomorrow!!

Phoenix, I too worry about that. I have quite an, erm - coloured, shall we say - medical history, and im worried about what they'll say... My GP has told me that because I've been stable for the last few years (I have Bipolar) that he'd write a good "recommendation" should my clinic need one, but I still worry.
I don't think it'll make such a difference because you've got a good GP behind you (by the sounds of it?) who will back you. It's like Shoes said; they're caring for you more than anything Flowers

witchmountain · 01/04/2017 08:27

Pez good luck today! Will catch up on the rest of thread shortly....

Pez82 · 01/04/2017 09:11

Thanks witch, my transfer will be tomorrow. Today will just be a phone call to update me on numbers 🤞

kwick · 01/04/2017 09:52

Sorry ladies no can do new dates.
