My DH and I have started going to the theatre Saturday matinees more regularly now our kids are older teens and we can leave them home alone on Saturday afternoons!!

We have booked Dracula so far as Australian friends have raved about it but wondering what else is coming out that people are excited about?

I’m going to see Kenneth Branagh’s Tempest in Stratford and I can’t bloody wait! Going with my best mate and we’re going to make a mini break of it.

We saw a live recording of this at our local cinema (outside the UK). She was absolutely amazing.

MadameDeveria · 09/11/2025 07:25

I am going to see The Last Playboy of the Western World at the National Theatre in January.

Tomatocutwithazigzagedge · 09/11/2025 07:26

Will be travelling home to see "Owain and Henry" starring Michael Sheen in Cardiff next November. Can't wait!

Wow, that should be brilliant! Lucky you to have a ticket!

For next year I’ve Dracula, American Psycho, Greatest Showman and Beetlejuice booked. Excited for all of them.
Im hoping for a few more Paddington visits and I’m looking to book Golden Boy at the Almeida.
Oh and Sam Ryder doing Jesus Christ superstar next summer is interesting.

SparklyGlitterballs · 09/11/2025 07:30

I was really into the Hunger Games films and would like to see the new stage production which is in Canary Wharf.

I'm also a fan of Strictly and would like to see Johannes Radebe in Kinky Boots.

For something different, Stephen Frayne (formally known as Dynamo) has a new show - Up Close and Magical. If it's anything like the illusions he performs on tv then it should be good.

Bernadinetta · 09/11/2025 07:42

So far have got booked:

RSC Hamlet tour at my closest theatre
To Kill a Mockingbird
Matilda the musical tour, taking my two daughters

Also the Fiddler on the Roof tour but that’s this month so 2025 not 2026!

jasminocereusbritannicus · 09/11/2025 07:51

I saw Les Miserables last October, Phantom of the Opera in June and Oliver! 2 weeks ago…it’s something we’ve just started doing. We’ve just seen about Jesus Christ Superstar with Sam Ryder so we’re going to try for that!!!

MouseTheDog · 09/11/2025 07:58

We’ve got The BFG in January, Matilda in July and a family version of Midsummer Night’s Dream in August. My daughter has asked for Cursed Child tickets for Christmas so looking at that at the minute.

EnchantingDecoration · 09/11/2025 08:00

Jesus Christ Superstar for me so far, we saw the touring version a couple of years ago and it was excellent. We haven't got anything booked yet but keeping an eye on the emails and ticketing apps.

@Bernadinetta I saw FOTR at the Barbican a few months ago and really enjoyed it.

Philandbill · 09/11/2025 08:00

Great thread. @lynnebenfieldshandbag are you a 'friend' (paid member) of the RSC? Did this help with getting tickets? I wanted to go but missed the boat. I saw Branagh as Hamlet in the 1990s at the RSC; he was so superb I went twice, once in London and then up to Stratford for the run there too.
DD1 has seen Fiddler on the Roof and I'm contemplating taking DD2. Recently saw Wicked which was excellent. DD1 wants to see Phantom of the Opera so we may go up to London and do that after Christmas.
Has anyone seen "Austentacious"? It's on tour so I may book that. It's a shame that the theatre can be so very expensive or I'd be there more often.

Bagamama · 09/11/2025 08:05

I'm hoping the Keanu & Alex Waiting for Godot transfers from Broadway to the West End at some point. I've got a Globe voucher to use up too.

We're seeing Christmas Carol at the old Vic this month and I've been meaning to get Derren Brown tickets for Feb. Seen him before but it's a new show.

jay55 · 09/11/2025 08:09

@SparklyGlitterballsHunger games in Canary Wharf is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. Save your money and enjoy the films again.

springintoaction2 · 09/11/2025 08:09

We have tickets for Cats at Regent's Open Air theatre for July '26 - also liking some of the ideas on this thread.

The Fiddler on the roof is brilliant. I saw it recently.

Where did you find £25 tickets? Thanks

user2207 · 09/11/2025 08:17

Arcadia at Old Vic
Man to Man with Tilda Swinton

Placestogo · 09/11/2025 08:21

@distinctpossibility ive found the tickets - thanks

PrimSec · 09/11/2025 08:45

Going to Sorry Prime Minister. DH and I have been fans of the original series for years.

Where does everyone get their news on what’s coming up for booking? I seem to always read articles about “xxx opening next month” and by then all tickets are gone!

StrangewaysHereWeCome · 09/11/2025 08:47

Sondheim <does jazz hands>.
Into the Woods in London and A Little Night Music in Manchester.

Plus Peter Grimes in Leeds.

FatCatSkinnyRat · 09/11/2025 08:52

So many comments - love this! So much to go off and look at. The first half of the year does seem to be heavy with loads of great shows.

Forgot to mention DH booked American Psycho on Friday after being in the online queue for over an hour. We are hoping it is more like the movie than the book... We saw A Moon for the Misbegotten at the Almeida a few months ago (best show we saw all year and we saw one a month) and loved the venue so are really keen to see more here.

Off to investigate Arcadia, Man to Man, and Inter Alia ...... thank you!
