My DH and I have started going to the theatre Saturday matinees more regularly now our kids are older teens and we can leave them home alone on Saturday afternoons!!

We have booked Dracula so far as Australian friends have raved about it but wondering what else is coming out that people are excited about?

Paddington booked. Pride at the National Theatre awaited!

Cynic17 · 02/12/2025 22:02

Yes, I just saw All My Sons in preview, and it was fantastic.
I can also recommend The Producers at the Garrick - hilarious!
And for anyone who loved the book Ballet Shoes as a child, get down to the National....it's lovely, and the nostalgia will make you cry.

Branagh’s Tempest, Cherry Orchard and Gatis in Arturo Ui - all at RSC. Death on the Nile on tour. Really want to book for Playboy of the Weatern World at the National!

I've got those at Stratford too! Very excited.

Plus The BFG and 2.22 A Ghost Story.

Denim4ever · 02/12/2025 22:11

Hoping for lots of Stoppard revivals with his passing this week. Fabulous Invention of Love in 1997 at NT. play has only had one important revival since, so that would be a good one if they revived it.

CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan · 02/12/2025 22:43

Also hoping for Stoppard revivals- Arcadia at the Old Vic is booked for February. Off to The Spy Who Came in From the Cold on Thursday, have heard very good things.

Sondheim <does jazz hands>.
Into the Woods in London and A Little Night Music in Manchester.

Plus Peter Grimes in Leeds.

Is that the ENO production of Peter Grimes? If so, it's absolutely amazing.

Very envious of anyone who has a Tempest ticket.

If you can get to Stratford before The Forsyte Saga closes, go go go! It is fantastic. Really gripping. Painful, funny, races along challenging patriarchy, exploring and exposing values, the cast are brilliant, truly great theatre.

I have tickets for Lost Atoms (the Frantic Assembly show) , Harold Fry, Teeth and Smiles and Inter Alia.

Will soon book for Playboy of the Western World. And End I think.

StrangewaysHereWeCome · 09/12/2025 21:49

@cornishatheart It's Phyllida Lloyd for Opera North.

PeonyPatch · 09/12/2025 21:55

Paddington & Moulin Rouge (for my birthday) for me!

Also interested in Alia and Dracula!

tumbletoast · 09/12/2025 22:28

Where are you all getting your news about upcoming productions? I hadn't seen that JCS was on next year until it popped up on this thread, so I am now wondering what else I am missing!

Comefromaway · 10/12/2025 00:59

Facebook groups mostly. But I’m also on LW theatres mailing list & I follow Sam Ryder on Instagram.

whatohwhattodo · 10/12/2025 07:24

With the extension announcement I have just booked Paddington for next Xmas!

I hate being cramped so always want an aisle seat so try and book early for each Xmas as there will never usually be any offers for those dates anyway.

Westfacing · 10/12/2025 07:51

Moulin Rouge

Archduke - directed by Lyndsey Turner, The Royal Court

Krapp's Last Tape - directed, and starring, Gary Oldham; and Godot's To-do List, a curtain-raiser, The Royal Court

EnchantingDecoration · 10/12/2025 11:02

I'm on lots of mailing lists from previous bookings, and also follow LW Theatres on FB, so saw about JCS on there.

SnowFrogJelly · 11/12/2025 10:11

I’ve got tickets for End at the National next week

Frannyisreading · 11/12/2025 17:07

Lovely thread 🥳
I'm excited to see John Proctor is the Villain at the Royal Court.
Le Chat Noir immersive dining by The Lost Estate.
1536 at the Ambassadors.
Les Liaisons Dangereuses at the NT.
Lots of dance shows at Sadler's Wells because I'm a big dance nerd, including Balletboyz, Rambert, Gentleman Jack, The Red Shoes and Mary Queen of Scots.

But most of all, PRIDE at the NT which I am genuinely thrilled about. I hope it can live up to my expectations!

MissMarplesNiece · 31/12/2025 18:35

Top Hat, the musical, at Birmingham Hippodrome in March. I love the film and the music. I'm going on my own (haven't bought my ticket yet) since I don't know anyone else who is a fan and who wants to come with me. But I don't mind that, it will be pure indulgence for me.

user1476613140 · 31/12/2025 21:43

Wasn't disappointed with seeing Jack and the Beanstalk at the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh a few days ago. 😀 loads of laughs 🤣

YesSirICanNameChange · 31/12/2025 21:54

Here And Now (yes, the Steps musical 🙈) in February
Choir Of Man in May
Thespians in June
Operation Mincemeat in September (3rd time!)

Hoping to get Pride and John Proctor Was The Villain booked too.

Elevenseconds · 01/01/2026 10:26

Manged to get last minute Palladium panto tickets for £25 next week! Arse end of the Gods, but I’ve never been and I’m looking forward to it.

keiratwiceknightly · 01/01/2026 10:54

We have tickets for The tempest at RSC and Paddington. Also talk of a wider family trip to see Phantom.

DD and I saw Phantom this week. I am so envious of your Tempest tickets @keiratwiceknightly

EnchantingDecoration · 03/01/2026 23:04

Right, done a bit of booking since I last posted. Also went to panto last night so that's no. 1 for the year.

Booked:
Blood Brothers on tour
Operation Mincemeat on tour
The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry - West End.

Planning to book soon:
Jesus Christ Superstar
Paddington

elizabethcharlotte · 04/01/2026 13:41

Just booked Inter Alia after reading this thread! Looking forward to it.

Elevenseconds · 09/01/2026 18:27

Booked Operation Mincemeat, Barnum and 2:22, and thinking about the Romeo and Juliet with Sadie Sink.
