Started this as we’ve veered off topic on the AG thread.

Just watched Lard on YouTube.. Quite upsetting tbh.
Sad

One thing that really chills me is the idea that some people are missing a in basements. Because surely the ones we know about aren’t the only ones and they’ve escaped. I can imagine why people never stop looking for their missing.

Yes this and kidnappings of small children who lose memories of their real lives and think their kidnapped life is real.

@ToffeeNotCoffee

Trevor Deely - disappeared whilst walking home from the pub at 4am after a Christmas social in Dublin on 8 December 2000.

He called in at his workplace to collect his umbrella as it was raining. Two workmates were waiting for him outside. Why ? It was 4am. OK, they are not part of the enquiry but I still wonder why.

A man dressed in black was also waiting.

Trevor made a drink at his workplace and chatted to a colleague working the night shift. He got his umbrella and left.

He's seen walking down the street followed by the man in black.

Trevor has not been seen from that day to this.

He had recently returned from a trip to Alaska where he visited uninvited, a girl he had met when she was on holiday in Dublin.

His parents were keen to hear about his trip but he told them he couldn't visit that day as he was Christmas shopping.

Apparently, Trevor took a longer walk home than normal on that dark, cold rainy night. Couldn't get a taxi as they were on strike.

Where is he now ?

This one particularly intrigues me.

Wee Daniel Entwhistle from 2003 (I think). So young - 6 or 7 years old and he went missing in Great Yarmouth. Last sighting of him was in a local shop buying sweets. His dad was exposed as a convicted paedophile after his death, due to sexual offences against a 13 gear old girl.
I definitely think Daniel is one of the cases were we can see how missing working class children get less attention from the media /police due to more affluent families. Desperately sad- a wee boy goes missing and seems to have been forgotten.

I read about Corrie. They think he got locked in a Greggs rubbish bin and collected by the bin men the next day. They are weighed and logged weekly and an average is calculated(probably for charging purposes), and the bin that day was heavier. 😞 Theyve searched the landfill to no avail

BorderlineHappy · 22/01/2022 17:31

Philip Cairns a 13 year old schoolboy disappeared in 1986.

I remember it well as I was the age, also just started Secondary school.

He basically disappeared in to thin air.
And his schoolbag was found in the lane he walked through a couple of weeks later.

ENoeuf · 22/01/2022 17:34

How awful (Corrie) to think your son had been literally dumped with rubbish.

I read somewhere Corrie had form for getting drunk and sleeping in weird places.
So it's not beyond the possibilities that he climbed in the bin truck.
And never got out again.

Claudia Lawrence I think someone she knew did it.
And probably someone close has the missing piece, they haven't gone to the police about it.
God knows why?

AuntMasha · 22/01/2022 17:53

The disappearance of little 7 year old Kyron Horman. It’s a deeply frustrating case because the police strongly suspect his stepmother was likely involved but as yet they just cannot find enough evidence to charge.

MrsMigginsCat · 22/01/2022 18:02

Marion Barter disappeared in Australia in 1997. Sold her house, went on a trip to the UK, flew back to Aus with a different name but hasn't been seen since she left on the original flight out. There's a podcast about her daughter's search for the truth called The Lady Vanishes.

ENoeuf · 22/01/2022 18:20

MrsMigginsCat that is odd. I shall google. There’s one where a couple arrived fir a business trip, she forgot her documents and came later than was going sightseeing while her husband attended a conference (I think) but she vanished and was found dead miles away.

@GirlInACountrySong, I think Suzanne's husband or partner was charged ? But I could be wrong. Apologies if I am.
I was listening to a case last night. 2 brothers in America Orson and Orrin Wells. Foster parents seem to be confused about timings etc ( The Behaviour Panel is good for missing people and their 'loved ones' reactions etc. The 2 brothers have been missing for a year now. Seems even more puzzling when 2 siblings disappear? Something not right. Mind you, the Beaumont children have never been found and there were 3 of them. I watch Disappeared on ID - it's interesting but so frustrating. You end up with even more questions.
I feel so sorry for these families of missing people. I don't know how they get up in the morning 😕. Just the thought of any of mine disappearing brings me out in a cold sweat.

JazzTheDog · 22/01/2022 18:49

Shaun Ritchie going missing is one I always remember because it's so local to where I live and travel the road between Strichen and Fraserburgh regularly.

The thing I don't get about Corrie is that he was really smartly dressed that night in white jeans and he cared a lot about his appearance. He was seen on CCTV asleep in a doorway and he had parked his car close by. Why would he actively choose to climb into a bin to go to sleep when he had already dozed off in the doorway. Why wouldn't he go to sleep in his nearby car?

Who the hell chooses to climb into a repulsive bin to sleep? Or could there be some other reason he ended up in there?

Maybe other people do this but I just can't understand anyone going to sleep in a bin after a night out.

Interestingly, there was an episode of Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix about an older ex army guy whose body was also found in landfill in the US. The man who worked there said they regularly had to bang on the lids of bins before opening them in case people were asleep inside, but these may have been homeless people so that's different.

In this case, the guy had bipolar and had stopped taking his meds. Not sure if any of this applied to Corrie?

dayswithaY · 22/01/2022 19:11

Enoeuf that's Judy Smith. She went to a conference in Philadelphia with her husband, he called out goodbye while she was in the shower and never saw her again. Her body was found up a hiking trail in North Carolina, wearing different clothes. No idea how she got there, no links in the area.

Following - some deeply upsetting stuff on here though.

These are so creepy

Michael Dunahee has been missing for decades, after disappearing from a park in Victoria, B.C.

There apparently is a new podcast about it.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 22/01/2022 19:24

@ShaneTheThird

Corrie mckeague most recently. Wtf happened to him?! :(
I think it's most probable that he was crushed in the bin. The eventual weight confirmation makes any other possibility very unlikely

Hopefully if we stay respectful we can talk about mysteries, unexplained crimes without causing offence. I know it interests me but I don’t want to be ghoulish. I’m sure others are similar.
