Yes, I listened to the podcast yesterday and speaking as someone from Dublin who has little to no knowledge of GAA it struck me that both Johnnie's had clearly had their egos pampered by that culture to the point where they would not really question a random beautiful girl being mysteriously attracted to them Grin.

However I think the identity of "Nicky" needs to be known to prevent future harm, and indeed is known - her name and hometown are on Tattle. It is easy to find photos of her and what school she is or has been teaching at in south Dublin.

It isn't so much the catfishing but the allegations of serious crimes, and the aggressive response when her victims end communication with her.

Haha that's true about the two johnnies!

Yes she definitely took it way, way too far with the allegation of a crime.

She is on the extreme end of catfishing alright.

I see people on tattle are saying that she's been doing things like that since she was a teen

The two johnnies definitely have some ego.

This catfish thing has definitely got them a lot of attention and airplay.

But do all the men that catfish have serious mental health problems?

What nikki did was very wrong. We've all said that

But i was the one that pointed out that men catfishing women is HUGE in irish society. And it annoys me that it's never talked about. And they get away with it.

I just think this case is another example of our patriarchal society. And I see that people have thanked the post where I said it.

The amount of lads that I've met in ireland - who told me that they make up jobs and fake lives, to get women to have sex with them.

Lads in dublin told me that when they go on holiday to Spain, or go on holiday to another part of ireland, they all pretend to be doctors or lawyers or surgeons.
They'll also pretend that they really like the woman.
Then when the woman has sex with them, they won't speak to her again. And they laugh at her on group chats.

Making up a fake job is catfishing.

Edited

Pretending your a doctor on holiday is fucking weird behaviour but still absolutely nothing like the level this girl went to to create the 100s of fake accounts, hound people relentlessly from several different names, try to get the bank details of some of them, repost their children multiple times pretending she knew them, and even accuse real life men she had actually never met of physical domestic abuse and violent rape.
It’s literally not even comparable.

No one said she isnt bad.

she is bad. I'm pointing out that it's not just her.

This besaviour has become common in society.

If you look on tiktok there are loads of videos on there, where people are saying that they know people who have loads of instagram fake accounts.

It's become a thing in society, because technology makes it so easy to set up an account under any name you want.

Instagram needs to make much better security controls.

That would stop this.

They should ask for a photo of I.d. before you can set up an account

PurpleDiva22 · 20/01/2025 13:44

@Applecharm25 yes we know there are loads of catfish accounts. There's an entire MTV show dedicated to it. If it didn't happen often, that series would've stopped years ago! We get that. But for the last time, this thread is about one specific catfishing case. Nobody on here has said men don't do it, we know they do. Other women do it too! Honestly, yes I think anyone who does it does need some sort of counselling at the very least, but Nikki has gone above and beyond your standard "catfish"! That is why we are saying she is mental and needs help, not because she is a woman!!!

I do agree that social media sites need better verification processes, and also better review processes when an account it reported. The women who's accounts were used to take photos from had reported some of Nikkis pages before she catfished Johnny B and instagram did nothing about it.

Yeah instagram and facebook don't care.

It's those sites that need to improve.

The johnnies have said this too about the social media sites.

@PurpleDiva22 I think there should be some policy that if an account is reported as potentially fraudulent, the account holder should have to provide proof of ID. I don't think I'd we'd all want to be uploading identification to every social media site or board we use, in the age of hacking and stolen data, for the sake of stopping the few lunatics with an agenda, such as Nikki who do stuff like this.

Applecharm25 · 20/01/2025 21:25

Instagram and facebook definitely need to improve their security features.

People should have to upload a photo of I.D. at the start with their proven name

A man pretending to be Prince harry Messaged my mum on Facebook last week.

Like revolut do for security.

Social media needs to step up security.

PurpleDiva22 · 20/01/2025 22:01

I don't really know what the answer is. I would be worried about potential hacking of their system and all those photos of people's ID. Not sure what hackers could use it for but doesn't seem safe. Perhaps @FiFTM is right and ya need to verify if you are reported. One quick live face ID thing would've straight away shown that those pages were fake. Like it's very very poor of instagram to do absolutely nothing when the girls reported their photos being stolen and used on a fake account. They didn't even need proof, all instagram would've had to do is look at the dates of the photos posted.

I wonder will they make catfishing a crime in the future.

It's like harassment isn't it.

@PurpleDiva22 I think if you had copies of IDs along with phone numbers, email addresses etc alongside what people post online it could lead to fraud, phishing for bank details etc. People end up taking out loans with this kind of info. Plus I can only assume that it would be very expensive to run for the companies, which they aren't going to love. But this thread as you said is about the gaa catfish, the lunacy lurking inside Nikki's head than the policies of social media. Reddit had some great stuff about it, saying she should run a course in time management 😂 also apparently an immediate family member had passed away recently and even that hasn't stopped her. It's pure obsession with her, and addiction at this point.

PurpleDiva22 · 20/01/2025 22:30

@FiFTM it's gone beyond addiction at this stage. It's like she believes that this is happening in her real life. Walking into a pub and announcing you are going out with someone you know you are catfishing.... wwweeeeiiirrrdd!!!! I've seen the time management posts - hilarious. I've also seen funny posts about a serious decline in 4th Arq hoodies since that photo of her wearing one in the pub has circulated 😅

OP posts:
Applecharm25 · 20/01/2025 22:34

If you were a parent of a child in her class, you definitely wouldn't really want them in that class, would you

PurpleDiva22 · 20/01/2025 22:36

I've read online people commenting that its a disgrace the school haven't done anything. Fuck all the school can do yet unfortunately, that's not the principals fault.

OP posts:
FiFTM · 20/01/2025 22:38

@PurpleDiva22 yeah I think she both loves and hates the gaa boys, she wants one for the status but despises them because she thinks she can't get one? Like I said earlier, incel like mentality. Where was the pub, was it a good distance from where the supposed boyfriend lived, maybe she thought no one would cope on? I went into a supermarket one day years ago and the girl at the till told me she was Nathan carter's girlfriend, had a whole elaborate story, maybe this shit happens more than we reckon? 😂

Yeah I wouldn't think the school could do anything.

Unless she actually catfished one of the pupils.

But I'd say that the parents are bothered and some may move their children out of her class

MadeForThis · 20/01/2025 23:08

She's dangerous. And her stories keep getting more extreme.

GAA is a small community. I can't believe many players would fall for it now. Even kids in primary schools are talking about it.

It could all fizzle out as she loses her audience/victims.

But that's the whole thing, she's making very realistic people. Creating multiple pages so they have family members and friends. Following pages from the area she's pretending to from. Pretending she knows someone that they know of. All the lads who have told their stories have said the same thing. She's lethal.

OP posts:
Applecharm25 · 20/01/2025 23:11

We also should stop putting gaa players on a pedestal.

Like as I've seen some irish comedians say:

The gaa has become like a cult. Eg they can do no wrong.

Eg someone could say

"That lad has stolen 10 grand."

And someone would say "ah but he's a good lad, he plays gaa".

Like as long as he plays gaa it doesn't matter what other bad things he does.

PurpleDiva22 · 20/01/2025 23:14

@Applecharm25 that may be somewhat true but I've no doubt if it wasn't GAA players she was targeting it would be a different group of lads. She targeted a few within the entertainment industry too, or so they said on the on the podcast.

OP posts:
FiFTM · 20/01/2025 23:19

@PurpleDiva22 if you had your chance to say something directly to Nikki what would you say? Cos I've an inkling she's here tonight 😂 what gaa lads stealing 10 grand has to do with a mentally unwell girl accusing people of rape, I'm not too sure. Like I said, Nikki has a serious issue with those GAA boys (especially the ones who play "countaaaay")

We can say that nikki is awful. Which she is.

And also say that gaa culture is awful. I know gaa lads that have raped girls and gotten away with it. Because they are gaa lads.

How immature to keep calling me the catfish. I'm not a fucking catfish and I've never been one.

I could say that you are harassing me. Which you are. Do you enjoy harassing people? Like it's so fucking immature.

Yeah definitely a few entertainment lads.

She was mainly after the gaa lads though.

I see one parent online said that they're concerned that she is her child's teacher.

It's not a good look to be a teacher and be doing this.
