Ah I'm just sick of looking at conor mcgregor!

Hopefully we get a new irish poster boy after this. Better quality

Can we have Paul Mescal? 😍

Can we have Paul Mescal? 😍

He's definitely classier all round!

Isn't it great he's gone from maynooh all te way to be in Gladiator 2.

He was brave to study acting in Trinity. I'm sure a lot of irish families wouldn't be pleased to see their son studying acting. They'd want their son to study business or accounting or engineering.

He followed his own path , and look how far he's gone!

Is one of paul Mescal's parents from somewhere else, out of interest?

Mescal is not an Irish surname. Looking it up, it says it is a Spanish surname.

Mescal is an Irish surname. His father is from Clare.

OK I saw one website where it said it is a common Spanish surname.

But Mescal ould also prpbably be an anglicised version of an Irish surame.

Anyway he's better than McGregor!

He is a scumbag hope he loses his cool and says something damming . Sure the whole of Ireland knew he had raped someone the day after it happened .

I heard this the next day and I'm not in Ireland. Wasn't she getting all sorts of threats?

It's an Irish surname.

It says online that his particular surname is an anglicised version of an Irish surname.

It's an Irish surname.

It's an unusual one as I haven't heard it anywhere in Ireland other than on him. And I've lived all over ireland!

But he is a much better quality man than Conor McGregor. So far

@StrongFemaleCharacter yea I heard her car was hurt out not sure if true but wouldn't put it past him to try get her not to go ahead with the court case

workshy46 · 14/11/2024 17:36

It is the CCTV, thats why they didn't prosecute and why he will probably get away with this. He is a total scumbag

MintiLamb · 14/11/2024 17:42

This has been being reported since back when he first got arrested - and tbh everyone in Dublin knew it was McGregor. It was reported as 'Irish sport star' accused of rape he wasn't named.

He's so grim. I hope she gets a payout from this. It's not the first time he's been accused of rape and he's been in trouble with the law many times for assault etc.

It’s a fairly common name in Clare.

Brave? It's the best acting programme in the country!

Though agree most Irish parents want you get a stable job. Preferably civil service with a good pension.

I like acting. And I've acted in lots of local plays.

My parents definitely would never have agreed to let me study acting in college.

They were big into me getting a sensible job.

Say if I said I wanted to study acting,

Not only would my parents have talked me out of it, they would have got my aunties and uncles to put the pressure on me too, until I agreed to do a sensible college course

Your parents don't have to agree though? You can make your own choice.

My bff/oldest friend was on this same course at Trinity many years ago. Her parents, relations, all told her it was a terrible idea - they even tried to convince me to convince her to do a 'sensible degree'

Anyway, she didn't listen to them and went ahead with it 😆 I wouldn't say she was particularly brave, just stubborn 😅

workshy46 · 14/11/2024 17:58

The CCTV, described in court as her being affectionate, touching, kissing him after the alleged rape. I am surprised he didn't pay her off originally and that he let it go to court.

Yes you can technically make your own choice at 18. But a lot of 18 year olds get bullied into doing what their parents want them to do in University. 18 is young and some teens are scared to stand up to their parents.

I know that my friend really wanted to do nursing at 18, and her parents talked her out of doing it, for some reason or other.

Fair play to her! You really do have to stand up for yourself when you go to University.

Lots of parents try to get you to what they think is a good idea at University.

They don't see that it's actually much better if the teenager gets to choose got themselves.

Because if he pays her off it would come out, in the news, and it looks bad.

Remember when michael jackson paid off the child, and it came out all over the news anyway and made him look guilty
