Hi Craicnetters!

I was looking for the other thread and see it's fallen way down the list so I decided to make a new one for all our daily musings ☘️

Thanks Jane! We lost well.

DeanElderberry · 21/07/2024 18:28

You did and another 30 seconds might have reversed the result.

Also might have killed off sundry players and supporters - that was quite something.

deeahgwitch · 21/07/2024 18:54

God twas tight !!!

eggandonion · 21/07/2024 21:19

Im in West Cork for 2 days. It was exciting in the pubs!
Go for the double next year! And the ladies and camogie...

honeyrider · 21/07/2024 22:58

That was the best and most exciting hurling final in years especially for a neutral.

UtopiaPlanitia · 22/07/2024 01:05

I was in bits watching it - nailbiting stuff and I ended up shouting at the telly 😬 We were neutrals but supporting Clare for the sake of extended family. Fair play to Cork too; when both teams are that good it's almost a shame that one team has to lose.

deeahgwitch · 24/07/2024 09:21

Lovely to see Colin Farrell will be running the Marathon in aid of Debra Ireland the fantastic charity that supports people with Epidermolysis Bullosa - EB or Butterfly Skin in Ireland.
He is supporting his friend, Emma Fogarty. who has the condition.
Emma was diagnosed at birth with the condition and her parents were told she would survive a week approximately.
But Emma is a fighter, she just celebrated her 40th birthday !!!!!
Colin is doing the Marathon in honour of that.
Fair play. 👏🏻

eggandonion · 24/07/2024 09:59

Colin seems very kind and thoughtful and a fantasy dinner party guest especially after a couple of bottles of wine! Debra is a great charity.

honeyrider · 24/07/2024 10:08

Colin does a lot of charity work.

eggandonion · 24/07/2024 13:33

I think a baby name thread on Colin is due a come back...

Taytocrisps · 03/08/2024 16:13

I see Michael Deely has died (the father of Trevor Deely). I don't know the family at all, but it's so sad that he never discovered what happened to his son and was never re-united with him.

deeahgwitch · 03/08/2024 20:21

I saw that too @Taytocrisps.
Heartbreaking.
Annie Mc Carrick's father died too before he got answers, her Mum left to carry on. Sad
Annie didn't have siblings afaik.
Ciara Breen's mother in Dundalk died also and Ciara's body has never been found and the suspected murderer has died also.
I think of Philip Cairns family too with no closure.

eggandonion · 04/08/2024 22:46

Missing person stories are really sad.
I was going to say poor Daniel Wiffen but only getting a bronze medal is nothing compared to what some families are faced with.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 05/08/2024 10:00

I remember Trevor Deely's name and the appeals by his father over the years. It's so sad. Those poor families who never get to know what happened to their loved ones.

On another note, Daniel Wiffen seemed very happy with his bronze medal yesterday and well done to him. It annoys me a bit when the commentators seem disappointed afterwards. Perhaps he had the potential, but he swam well and Bobby Finke was amazing in that race. He was in first position all the way through.

DeanElderberry · 06/08/2024 07:54

Even to qualify to compete in the Olympics is such an achievement.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 06/08/2024 08:59

They are all wonderful. I'm in awe of them. They showed the team doing a little walk on the podium at the Eiffel Tower yesterday evening. The atmosphere looked amazing.

halfpasteleven · 06/08/2024 23:27

Yay Kelly Harrington! So proud of her and so pleased for her.
Simply inspirational in everyway. ☘️

honeyrider · 07/08/2024 00:27

Bob's your uncle, fanny's your aunt, goodnight Irene 😂

deeahgwitch · 09/08/2024 09:22

Explain please @honeyrider
I know it's a Katie quote but in what context?

Kelly said it meaning there you have it, she's done as she's retiring.

deeahgwitch · 09/08/2024 11:47

Thank you @honeyrider

halfpasteleven · 12/08/2024 04:16

Hope everyone is safe from the thunder and lightning- it's reminding me that I really do not like lightning.

Power gone since 8pm here as well..

DeanElderberry · 12/08/2024 07:24

It was very bangy here so I pulled the covers over my head and went to sleep - with other disturbances later from thunder and from a loudly disapproving cat who also really doesn't like this stuff and wanted human reassurance. I managed to ignore him until 5.30 but then had to provide many cuddles, ear rubs and general distraction. The electricity was off for about an hour and a half, so I'll have to tramp across the garden to re-start the water pump.
